Evan Yang hadn’t expected that releasing such a thing would make leaving impossible. Now, he had to help Lydia Quinn solve the problem at hand. So he spoke up: "No matter what, before it fully merges with its body, find it and destroy it."
"Let’s go. Take this stone. I originally sought it for Drakehorn—though it’s out now, the stone still has an effect," Lydia Quinn said.
"This stone? What’s its use?" Evan Yang asked.
"You saw it just now. Any demon fears this stone, and Drakehorn is a kind of demon beast, so it’s terrified of it. Even a bit of fear makes it much easier to defeat," Lydia Quinn explained.
"So that’s how it is. No wonder you wanted this stone," Evan Yang said, remembering how even Beauty Serpent went weak at the knees when she saw it.
"Let’s go. We don’t have much time. If we don’t find it within three months, it’ll be over," Lydia Quinn urged.
Evan Yang nodded, then followed Lydia Quinn to the nearest city, planning to ask around about Drakehorn. Since it was such a serious matter, it would surely attract attention.
Sure enough, at an inn, they heard many stories about Drakehorn—both old tales and news of it hiding now. Most importantly, many people were guarding its body, waiting for its head to appear so they could stop it.
"They actually know where its body is. Let’s go there and wait for it," Evan Yang said.
"Alright," Lydia Quinn nodded.
So the two of them got up and left, heading toward the place where Drakehorn’s body was sealed.
Dragonhorn Mountain Range—a vast stretch of mountains named for the fact that Drakehorn’s body is suppressed here. Drakehorn is an ancient ferocious beast, powerful enough to rival dragons. But before it could reach that level, it was besieged and sealed by many here. In the end, its body and head were separated to prevent reunion. Once they merge, separating them again would be difficult and costly.
So its body and head were sealed in different places, guarded by different sects.
The Dragonhorn Mountain Range is mainly guarded by Eagle God Hall and several other sects, but now almost every major sect in this world has gathered here. Their goal: stop Drakehorn’s head from reaching its body. If they merge, disaster will follow.
The entire mountain range is now heavily fortified. At the entrance, on a peak, a large tent has been set up, guarded by many people.
Right now, many people are gathered inside the tent.
Inside are Iris Hayes from Eagle God Hall, Sovereign Qin Yu—the guardian of Drakehorn’s head—and other Immortal Sovereigns.
Outside the tent are Lina Hayes, Leah Hayes, Firebird, Razor Wolf, and those who hold grudges against Howling Wolf.
Just then, a commotion erupted outside. Curious, the people in the tent came out. Seeing the scene, they grew excited—they had caught someone: Howling Wolf.
Howling Wolf, badly wounded, lay on the ground and sneered at the crowd, "You’re really something, finding me like this."
"Enough nonsense!" a burly man shouted, then turned to Iris Hayes from Eagle God Hall. "Aunt Iris, I’ve caught him."
Iris Hayes walked up to Howling Wolf and said, "You’ve got some nerve—not only did you abduct my sect’s disciples, you even colluded with outsiders to help Drakehorn’s head escape!"
"Don’t lecture me with your bullshit theories! You hypocrites, heartless bastards—I’ll never yield! If you say Brother Yang released Drakehorn’s head, then I’m grateful to him. Thanks to him, you lot can’t run wild anymore," Howling Wolf spat out a mouthful of blood and cursed.
"Damn it, you really are stubborn. For now, I won’t pursue the matter of abducting my disciples—I just want to know where the person you mentioned is!" Iris Hayes demanded angrily.
Howling Wolf only smiled and said nothing.
The Immortal Sovereigns exchanged frustrated glances, then prepared to try various methods to force Howling Wolf to reveal Evan Yang’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Evan Yang and Lydia Quinn had already slipped into the crowd and were about to decide where to go when they saw what was happening atop the mountain.
"This isn’t good," Evan Yang frowned.
"What’s wrong?" Lydia Quinn asked curiously.
"A friend of mine’s in trouble. I have to go up there. You stay here—if anything happens, you can keep dealing with Drakehorn," Evan Yang said.
"No, everyone on the summit right now is a big shot—not people ordinary folks can handle. I can use my connections to help you," Lydia Quinn said.
"You?" Evan Yang wasn’t sure what connections Lydia Quinn had.
"Let’s go," Lydia Quinn said.
Evan Yang nodded, then followed Lydia Quinn up to the summit, stepping out from the crowd.
"Let him go," Evan Yang said.
Suddenly, someone spoke, startling everyone. When they saw it was Evan Yang, they were shocked. Iris Hayes finally laughed, "Didn’t expect you’d really show up, kid. Walked right into our trap."
Howling Wolf looked at Evan Yang and gave a bitter smile. "Why did you come?"
"You suffered for me—how could I not come?" Evan Yang smiled, then ignored everyone and helped Howling Wolf up. At the same time, he channeled Heaven-Cold qi into Howling Wolf, rapidly improving his injuries. The surrounding crowd was stunned—Evan Yang was far too strange, able to heal someone so badly hurt so quickly.
"Impressive skills. Who are you, exactly? What’s your relationship with Drakehorn?" Iris Hayes frowned, seeing Evan Yang’s abilities.
"I’m Evan Yang. As for my relationship with Drakehorn—none at all," Evan Yang replied.
"No relationship? Ridiculous—you’re a terrible liar. You’re the one who released Drakehorn’s head," said another Immortal Sovereign, the one guarding Drakehorn’s head.
"Yes, I released it. So what?" Evan Yang replied.
"You actually think you’re in the right?" the Immortal Sovereign said angrily.
Meanwhile, Lina Hayes and Leah Hayes hadn’t expected Evan Yang to be so terrifying—even Immortal Sovereigns didn’t faze him. They shuddered, remembering how they once followed him.
"Evan Yang, give us a reason. If you released it by accident, we won’t hold you accountable. But if you did it on purpose, don’t blame us—even if you’re strong, I won’t let you off," Iris Hayes said.
Evan Yang was about to speak when a long roar sounded, and a dark shadow appeared in the sky nearby—a head, now surging with power, somehow boosting its strength to the maximum.
Everyone was shocked to see the head—it was Drakehorn.
"Ha! Drakehorn has arrived! You lowly humans, take my attack!" Drakehorn laughed wildly. With that, it spat a torrent of flame at the summit. Several Immortal Sovereigns were alarmed and quickly raised a barrier to block the fire, but the unprotected forest was leveled.
Its power was indeed terrifying. Evan Yang thought to himself: it’s hard to imagine what would happen if its head and body merged. "Damn it, Drakehorn! We sealed you once—we can do it again!" Iris Hayes shouted angrily.
"You dare talk about the past? If you hadn’t caught me off guard and cut off my head, none of this would have happened! Hmph!" Drakehorn retorted angrily.
