Cautious Pleas for Favor

12/2/2025

Time flew by. During the day, Lily Evans disguised herself as Scholar Evans and slipped out of the manor through a secret passage to teach at the Royal Academy of Mathematics; at night, she reviewed the accounts and checked on the various businesses. Her days were packed and fulfilling.

Margaret Evans’s marriage was a constant worry for her family. On Lily’s side, she had Belle help with the arrangements, while April assisted Belle. Once April could handle things independently, she would be put in charge.

Meanwhile, Alexander Hayes and Mrs. Penny focused on recovering from their injuries. After Margaret Evans’s wedding, the two planned to quietly hold a small banquet and get married themselves.

Everyone in the family was cheerful and hopeful for a better life, but Lola, who followed Lily everywhere as her personal bodyguard, grew increasingly withdrawn and unhappy.

Faced with this quiet, reserved girl, Lily found herself unable to figure out what was on Lola’s mind.

Lola was fiercely loyal, highly skilled in martial arts, and followed orders well. She protected Lily diligently, but her personality was so closed off that she kept everything bottled up inside.

Whenever Lily asked her about it, Lola would just look confused, unable to give a clear answer. Most days, she was like a closed book, barely saying a word.

As time went on, even Lily started to overlook this quiet girl with almost no presence.

Mrs. Penny and Alexander Hayes used to pay special attention to Lola, but now, with their injuries and wedding plans, they hardly had time for her.

The only one who still talked to Lola was Bella Bell, but she was busy every day at the Eight Treasures Bistro, barely having a moment to spare except for her daily reports to Lily. She had no time to check on Lola.

So Lola became like an invisible person, silently following Lily around every day and carrying out her tasks while everyone else was caught up in their own busy lives.

By day, she was Scholar Evans’s page; by night, she was the personal female shadow guard of the Prince of Qin's Manor.

The day of Margaret Evans’s wedding was drawing closer, and she was starting to act more and more like a shy young girl.

Meanwhile, the renovations at the Prince of Qin's Manor were nearly complete, and it was almost time to move.

That day, Marquis Weiyuan finally couldn’t hold back and came to find Lily himself.

He had always been a proud and imposing elder, but now, facing Lily, he was careful and almost timid, afraid of offending her.

He sat awkwardly for a while, then tried to persuade Lily to stay, saying, “You and Alexander don’t have to move out so soon. The estate is big enough for everyone. I’d be lonely if you left.”

Lily was surprised. She hadn’t expected Marquis Weiyuan to be so anxious about their move.

In the past, Marquis Weiyuan would never have spoken so gently. He used to order people around, expecting instant obedience.

Now, he was so cautious that he even brought gifts to please Lily, fearing she might be unhappy.

Lily smiled and reassured him, "Don't worry, Marquis Weiyuan. Even after we move, we'll still come back to visit often."

Marquis Weiyuan breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, finally looking a little less anxious.

"Yes, of course we're moving," Lily nodded.

Marquis Weiyuan's expression instantly became uneasy. He stood up and pleaded anxiously, "Lily, can you talk to Alexander and ask him not to move out? The Marquis's Manor is so big, there's plenty of room for everyone. There's no need to leave... If you go, how will his mother and I cope when we miss him?"
