Chapter 704: Demon

The Heart of Constantine, Lord of Wisdom, developed an instinct almost like consciousness. Its power to tempt rivals even the allure of the Book of All Spells.

The feverish pursuit of magical power is something almost no mage can resist; at least, until they know the truth, few can withstand such temptation.

But those powerful mages, whose reason was burned away by desire, all became prey for the Heart of Constantine. Their formidable magic, their lives, and even their souls were devoured by this evil heart.

In the end, a powerful mage stepped in and once again suppressed the Heart of Constantine at the very bottom of the Tree of Wisdom, sealing it away completely.

Leon’s face grew pale—this thing was the very source of misfortune itself. Best to stay far away. Even Constantine, a mighty Primordial Deity, couldn’t escape its wicked curse. Anyone else who so much as brushes against its evil aura is likely doomed, body and soul.

With a grim expression, Leon pulled everyone back from the edge of temptation.

After receiving two slaps, no one felt angry; instead, they all recoiled in terror, each looking at Leon with gratitude.

Elsa’s eyes were filled with terror and gratitude as she glanced at Leon. Everyone had seen what happened to those two dark elves; if they’d jumped in too, their fate would have been the same.

Leon and his companions slowly retreated. The heart suspended in the abyss gradually revealed its true form—the black mist swirling around it had nearly dissipated, but something else emerged from its depths.

A strange Ashen Orc...

This Ashen Orc had no hair on his head and wore a tattered robe. On the back of the robe was a demon rune.

At this moment, the Ashen Orc pressed both hands against the Heart of Constantine. Black mist swirled around him, as if he had fused with the heart itself.

Elsa stared at the strange Ashen Orc, her face filled with terror: "It's him!"

Before anyone could ask, Elsa quickly explained.

"Everyone thought he was dead—no one expected him to still be alive!"

Over a thousand years ago, he was an elder of the Ashen Orc tribe. Like one of our ancestors, he was hailed as the tribe's most promising genius to reach Sky Rank. Our Dark Elves and the Ashen Orcs were always enemies, and the two of them, being the strongest geniuses of their tribes, naturally became mortal rivals.

They had been fighting since youth, all the way up to the rank of Level Eight Title Archmage. During one battle, they accidentally entered Nightfall Gorge, and from then on, neither ever came out.

Everyone thought they were both dead. Who would have guessed that after more than a thousand years, Duncan is still alive...

With a trace of fear on her face, Elsa quickly told everyone the origins of this Ashen Orc.
