Hidden Truths of the Past

Zheng Liancheng had just made a round trip to the gates of hell.

His eyes were cold and his whole body shook with fury, but right now, he didn't dare utter a word.

Lin Yi turned and strode out. Gu Xiuran shot Zheng Liancheng a look, silent but full of warning.

On the side, Zhu Yidong jogged up and, in front of everyone, personally opened the door of the stretch Lincoln. She got in with Lin Yi.

Jia Yun Zheng had wanted to follow, but after Gu Xiuran reassured her several times, she finally stopped in her tracks.

"Jia Yun... Let me take you back to your room to rest for a bit."

Zheng Caiyun stepped forward, her gaze full of sorrow.

She glanced at Zheng Liancheng, who hadn't said a word this whole time. His face was iron-gray, all his earlier arrogance wiped away.

He watched Zheng Jiayun being helped away by Zheng Caiyun, saying nothing. Blood still stained the table in the main hall.

Pan Gong sat frozen in his chair, not daring to move. Zheng Fuyi's face was pale as a ghost, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Jason Zheng, who'd just taken a slap from Bryce Gu, lay there with his head lolling to one side—clearly knocked out cold.

Bryce Gu's fourth-grade Vajra strength made beating down someone like Jason Zheng, who'd fallen from the Pseudo-Vajra level, ridiculously easy.

"Who is that guy, anyway? Leon, how did he become a VIP guest of the Zhu clan? Is this for real?"

Susan Xu's voice trembled as she looked at the silent Leon Zheng, her words quivering with fear.

"Fake, fake... How could it all be fake?" Leon Zheng took a deep breath and stared at the now-empty front gate. "That girl really was Yvonne Zhu, and the man beside her—Bryce Gu—is already a fourth-grade Vajra."

"But why are they protecting that kid? I just can't figure it out."

With the Zhu clan's status in Oceanport, there's absolutely no reason for them to care about someone like Evan Lin!

Leon Zheng's eyes flickered as he clenched his fists tight.

His back was already drenched in cold sweat. Even if Leon Zheng refused to admit it, for just a split second there, he'd felt a tidal wave of killing intent—so overwhelming he couldn't even move.

The last thing Yvonne Zhu said was basically a dare—she was asking if the Zheng family wanted to go to war with the Zhu clan!

"What now? Should we tell the old man?"

Susan Xu looked worried. "This time it's the old lady who's been yelling nonstop about wanting Joy Zheng and Evan Lin to come home. If she finds out what happened today, what are we supposed to do?"

Susan Xu was full of anxiety. Just thinking about the old lady's sharp tongue made her miserable and regretful.

She'd just spent ages ranting beside Leon Zheng about Evan Lin beating someone up, which was what finally set Leon off. But now, with things out of control, Susan didn't dare go and call Evan back—just remembering the look Yvonne Zhu gave her was enough to send shivers down her spine.

"Now you're worried? Where was all this concern earlier?"

Leon Zheng snapped, making Susan Xu jump in fright.

Leon Zheng stared at the blood on the table for a long time, his eyes flickering. "Back then, Joy Zheng refused to name the man, and leaving home was her own decision."

"Now she's back, and she's brought a son who doesn't know his place. Worst of all, the Keene family already got wind of it!"

At the mention of the Keene family, Leon Zheng's face darkened even further. "The Keenes have been on a roll these past years. Not only are they killing it in business, but the third generation is full of genius-level talent."

Henry Keene—the third son who got jilted by Joy Zheng back then—his kid Flynn Keene reached the Vajra Realm years ago. And Flynn's master is none other than Raymond Cold, the infamous Cold Taoist."
