From Lola, Neil Zhao seemed to see the shadow of the House of Zhao from the past.
The House of Zhao has been a lifelong psychological shadow for Neil Zhao, something he can never shake off.
He thought he’d found a good woman and could finally live a peaceful life, but who could have known he’d end up marrying someone with the same temperament as the House of Zhao? How could Neil Zhao not resent this in his heart!
The resentment in Neil Zhao’s heart kept growing; his feelings for Lola became increasingly blurred, mixing with his hatred for the House of Zhao.
But Neil Zhao was no longer a child.
As an adult who could weigh pros and cons, he knew that divorcing Lola would only earn him a host of new enemies.
Lola’s status was high and her background deep. Neil Zhao had considered all this when he married her.
Of course, back then, he truly did like Lola.
But after tonight’s wedding, that affection was replaced by disgust and obsessive hatred.
All that remained was his use of Lola’s status.
Neil Zhao knew he wouldn’t divorce Lola—at least, not right now.
As the head of a family already suffering from serious decline, Neil Zhao understood that his only chance to rise was through Lola and the powerful people behind her.
Chancellor Evans, General Sean Hayes, Madam Penny, and so on.
Lying in bed, Neil Zhao closed his eyes. For now, at least, he was officially Lola’s husband, and that meant he could legitimately use her connections to get things done.

The next day, at the Grand Academician’s Office.
Martin Wu was feeling rather gloomy. Ever since returning from Lola’s wedding, she hadn’t been happy at all.
It was nearly noon, and Lola still hadn’t come to the office. Instead, she’d sent someone to request leave, saying she was newly married and needed a few days to rest.
Martin Wu sighed and took over Lola’s share of the work herself. After all, it was only natural for a newlywed to take a few days off.
Once Lola’s tasks were sorted out, Martin Wu grabbed her own project proposal and headed to the Ministry of Public Works to find Nathan Ye.
Martin Wu’s proposal for establishing a medical academy was ready; now she needed to discuss it with Minister Ye of Public Works.
The Grand Academician’s Office and the Ministry of Public Works were close by, both located on a street next to Prince Qin’s Palace, making it convenient for officials from different departments to meet and discuss affairs.
Martin Wu entered the Ministry of Public Works with her proposal. As soon as the staff inside heard she was looking for Minister Ye, they all gave her strange looks.
Martin Wu was puzzled. She was here to discuss official business with Minister Ye—why was everyone looking at her that way?
Still wondering, Martin Wu clutched her proposal and headed to the office area. As soon as she entered, she looked up and saw a shiny head—covered with sparse, short stubble, looking rather listless.
Martin Wu took a closer look—she recognized that familiar head. It was Minister Ye!
But... Nathan Ye’s bald head actually had some stubble growing on it. Who knew what method he’d used?
"Oh, it’s Grand Academician Martin Wu! Please, come in!" Nathan Ye greeted her warmly. "Chancellor Evans already spoke to me about the medical academy—I’ll fully cooperate! Come, Grand Academician Martin Wu, have a seat. Let’s discuss the plan in detail."
Nathan Ye seemed to be in an unusually good mood. Martin Wu sat down, still suspicious, but noticed Nathan Ye’s complexion wasn’t great. The man who used to look robust and healthy now seemed rather drained.
Martin Wu stroked her chin, guessing that Nathan Ye must be overworked.
No sooner had Martin Wu sat down than Nathan Ye, unable to contain his excitement, began talking nonstop. Pointing to his own head, he said, "Grand Academician Martin Wu, do you notice anything different about my head? Haha, I’ve started growing hair again!"
