"Martin Ma?"
Looking at the boy with round glasses, Evan Lin was momentarily stunned, then finally remembered.
Martin Ma was Evan Lin's middle-school classmate at Whitewood County No. 2 Middle School. He was a strong student, especially in math, and scored well on the high-school entrance exam, making it into Whitewood County No. 1 High School.
Back in middle school, Evan Lin and Martin Ma didn't interact much.
Evan remembered Martin as a bit timid by nature, but a genuinely nice guy—he used to lend Evan his homework to copy.
"It's really you! Evan Lin!"
Hearing Evan's words, Martin's round face lit up with joy. He hurried forward a few steps and threw an arm around Evan's shoulder. "Whoa, I can't believe you're here for the Math Olympiad too! No wonder—you're from Brightsea No. 2 High now!"
Even the best school in Whitewood County, Whitewood County No. 1 High School, couldn't compare to Brightsea No. 2 High.
Back when people heard Evan Lin was going to high school in Brightsea after the entrance exam, plenty of folks were jealous, envious, and resentful behind his back.
And ever since Evan started high school, except for winter and summer breaks, he hardly ever went back, so he saw Martin Ma even less.
