Demonic Nature Out of Control

2/14/2026

Quinn Shepherd blinked and quietly stepped back two paces. Nothing bad happened, so he retreated two more steps, but everything remained unchanged.

"This jade pendant... is definitely from Carefree Haven!"

Furylo stared at the jade pendant, examining it over and over, his three faces shifting between suspicion and excitement. Each face spoke in turn, muttering, "No, no, he's lying to us! How could someone from Carefree Haven be half-human, half-demon? He must be tricking us!"

"This kid is sly—he looks honest and simple, but he's actually cunning and crafty. You can't trust a word he says!"

"But this really is a jade pendant from Carefree Haven. If we actually caught someone from Carefree Haven and used them to find the place, then reported it to the Heavenly Court, they'd reward us handsomely! The demon race would finally have a place to survive!"

"You can't trust the Heavenly Court! Trusting them is like believing a pig can climb a tree!"

...

Quinn quietly retreated a few more steps. Furylo's three faces were still arguing with each other, lost in heated debate. Quinn suddenly spun around and bolted away—only to see Furylo standing right in front of him.

Furylo was still standing in the same spot, unmoving, his three faces still bickering. Quinn couldn’t help but feel hopeless.

Furylo was simply too powerful—powerful enough to distort the surrounding space, making it impossible for Quinn to escape, or even to get farther away from the jade pendant!

"Carefree Haven is so mysterious. They once built a magnificent civilization—a grand Heavenly Court! But how could there be demon descendants in Carefree Haven? Highly suspicious!"

"Exactly, it's very suspicious. I say we should just kill this kid! Let's do it right now!"

"Wait a moment, this jade pendant is strange. I can sense a seal inside it. What kind of seal is this? Could it be hiding the secrets of Carefree Haven?"

Quinn stared in shock at Furylo’s three faces. It was as if Furylo harbored three distinct consciousnesses within his body, each one like a separate soul. At that moment, all three faces were scrambling to study his jade pendant, trying to uncover the secret of the seal.

Quinn obediently stood there, not moving a muscle. Right now, he had no way to escape—he could only do his best to act docile and harmless.

Just then, he heard a noisy sound—a familiar whispering, the same kind he'd heard when Lord Hades played with the jade pendant in Nether City.

The sound was loud—like countless resentful spirits lurking in the shadows, unseen, their faces twisted in eerie expressions as they spoke words that could corrupt a person’s heart and tempt them into ruin.

Quinn shook his head. The whispering grew closer, as if someone were leaning right by his ear, pouring those voices straight into his mind.

He waved his hand around his ear, but no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t dispel that bizarre sound.

The next moment, he felt those chaotic voices burrow into his head—the noise was so overwhelming that his skull felt like it might explode.
