Lily Evans's Dilemma
Su Li clutched Alexander Hayes's sleeve tightly, her expression resolute. "Your Highness, inducing early labor might not necessarily endanger me! With Father and Quentin here, I trust their medical skills! Your Highness, I know this is the best time to save our child. If I don't try, how could I ever face our baby? Do you want me to live the rest of my life in pain and guilt?"
Su Li was determined to induce early labor to save her child. Even when Alexander Hayes called in Lady Wang to persuade her, no one could change her mind.
Su Li said to Dr. Rowan Lin, "Father, your medical skills are unmatched—I trust you! Please prescribe me medicine to induce early labor; I feel safe with you."
Dr. Rowan Lin looked at his resolute daughter and sighed. "A-Li, do you know what the greatest danger is in inducing early labor?"
Su Li was stunned for a moment and shook her head.
Dr. Rowan Lin sighed heavily several times, then turned and gently patted Quentin Lin’s head. "When Quentin’s mother gave birth to him, she accidentally induced early labor and, after delivering Quentin, suffered massive bleeding and passed away..."
"Massive bleeding!?" Quentin Lin suddenly interrupted. "Father, isn’t that the biggest risk after taking medicine to induce early labor? But now I know how to do blood transfusions! If A-Jie suffers heavy bleeding, I’ll be ready ahead of time and give her a transfusion. Wouldn’t that save her life?"
Dr. Rowan Lin nodded with a complicated expression, defeat written across his face. "Quentin, if I’d mastered your blood transfusion techniques back then, your birth mother wouldn’t have died..."
As the Lin Family’s Medical Sage, Dr. Rowan Lin had always blamed himself for failing to save his wife, who died in childbirth. He never expected that, six years later, the very technique that could have saved her would be mastered by Quentin Lin. Fate truly works in mysterious ways!
Hearing Quentin Lin’s words, hope blazed in Su Li’s eyes. She grabbed Alexander Hayes’s arm, exclaiming, "Your Highness, did you hear that? With Father and Quentin here, inducing early labor is possible!"
Alexander Hayes’s expression was grave. Unable to resist Su Li’s plea, he gently stroked her face. "My love, since you insist, I’ll respect your choice. But you must promise me—you have to hold on and live. I can’t lose you, and our child can’t lose their mother. Do you understand?"
Su Li’s eyes reddened as she gripped Alexander Hayes’s hand tightly. "I promise you, I will survive. Both the baby and I will be safe and healthy!"
The couple clung to each other tightly.
Su Li had made up her mind about inducing early labor. Dr. Rowan Lin, wanting to ensure his daughter’s safety, carefully checked her pulse and prescribed a nourishing and labor-inducing herbal decoction tailored to her condition.
When Margaret Evans heard about Su Li’s decision, she wept so much she was like a person made of tears.
Everyone was as anxious as ants on a hot pan, except for Su Li herself, who remained the most optimistic and relaxed. She comforted Margaret Evans, saying, "Mother, look at my luck—it’s just childbirth, nothing will happen."
Margaret Evans wiped her tears and sighed, "A-Li, I’m a mother too, so I understand how you feel. My heart just can’t stop worrying—I wish I could take this pain for you!"
Just as Margaret Evans spoke, Quentin Lin arrived. "Sister Lily, I’ll test your blood. Once I know your blood type, I’ll gather a hundred healthy donors. If anything goes wrong, I’ll give you a transfusion right away—no danger at all!"
Su Li smiled at Quentin Lin. She knew she was about to take a walk by death’s door, and Quentin was deliberately making light of it to ease her worries.
