Complications

2/14/2026

It was early April, and the flowers in the countryside were all in full bloom. A gentle breeze swept by, carrying waves of fragrance. Before them stretched vast fields of green and a boundless sky. Both of them gazed at this rare beauty in silence, neither speaking a word.

After a long silence, Ivy finally turned to look at Liam Willow, who hadn’t said a word. "Sorry, did I scare you just now?"

After that whole street fiasco, everyone had run off shouting, convinced the idiot had gone crazy. Judging by their dramatic reactions, she must’ve really scared them all just now.

But she didn’t regret it one bit—after all, it’s her body now. Besides, that woman’s mouth was just way too nasty.

"No, I wasn’t scared. Actually, that scene reminded me of how you were as a child—you were just as impressive back then." Liam smiled softly, eyes full of amazement and deep satisfaction, as if he’d been waiting for this all along.

Seeing this, Ivy quickly dodged his burning gaze and grumbled, "Ugh, do you think that woman’s got some kind of problem? Everyone else walks on two legs, but she just drags that ugly tail around in public—what kind of manners is that?" Actually, there was another reason she couldn’t help but teach that woman a lesson: her tail was dirt-gray, exactly the same color as the snake that bit Ivy when she was a kid.

"Wife... actually... actually, there’s a reason for that," Liam stammered suddenly.

"A reason? What reason?"

"It’s, um, because... because..." Liam’s face flushed red, but he couldn’t get the words out.

"Because what? Can you stop mumbling and just spit it out?" Ivy pressed, growing anxious.

"Uh, it’s just... you know, those days every month for you ladies!" Liam mumbled, head bowed in embarrassment.

Those days every month? Ivy blinked, then suddenly got it. "You mean... menstruation?"

"Uh? Menstruation?"

Seeing he didn’t understand, Ivy quickly changed her wording, "Monthly event? Apricot water?"

Liam nodded, face red. "Because of that, a woman’s body gets weak, so her tail comes out."

Hearing this, Ivy was stunned. She’d thought she could avoid ever showing her tail by skipping baths, but now, whenever her period came, her tail would appear too. Oh no, she couldn’t even imagine herself dragging a snake tail around!

"Ah... I can’t... it hurts so much..." A sudden scream snapped Ivy out of her thoughts.

"Wife, something’s happened over there," Liam said as he hurried forward, and Ivy quickly followed.

"Wife, are you okay?" From a distance, they saw a plainly dressed man anxiously asking the woman lying on the ground.

"Husband, I can’t walk anymore, it hurts so much..." the simple-looking woman gritted her teeth and said.

"Wife... oh, wife..." The honest man began to cry anxiously.

"Brother, what happened here?" Liam hurried forward to ask.

Hearing someone ask, the honest man turned and cried, "I told her to stay home, but she insisted on bringing me food. Suddenly her stomach started hurting, and now it looks like she’s about to give birth. But she’s in so much pain, she can’t make it back—what should I do?" Clearly, this was his first time as a father and he was at a loss.

"Brother, how about this: we’ll stay here and look after your wife, and you hurry to get the midwife," Liam suggested quickly.

Hearing this, the man seemed to see hope, bowing repeatedly through tears before running off toward the distant village.

"Wife, come help!" Liam called, supporting the suffering woman.

At that moment, Ivy was completely frozen, her mind stuck on one thought: Is a python lady about to give birth?!
