You Wouldn't Dare
Jasper Cheng looked at Lana Evans and, without even thinking, blurted out, "Lana, if Princess Consort Lily gets mad and slaps you twice, just let her. It's not a big deal."
Lana Evans trembled. "Young Master, I was slapped by someone—how can you say that?"
Jasper Cheng still clung tightly to Lana Evans, refusing to let go, afraid she'd do something reckless and hurt Princess Lily Hayes. If that happened, Jasper's bright future would be ruined!
Jasper Cheng tried to curry favor with Princess Lily Hayes. "Princess, you're right. Lana really was in the wrong. You've already hit her, so shouldn't your anger be gone? If not, I'll hit her for you—so you don't hurt your delicate hands."
After saying that, Jasper Cheng looked at Princess Lily Hayes with a fawning smile.
Meanwhile, Lana Evans was utterly shocked. She never imagined Jasper Cheng would try so hard to please her enemy!
Princess Lily Hayes looked at the two coldly, a mocking smile on her face. She took a sip of tea. "Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Cheng."
Lana Evans was stunned by this. What did Princess Lily Hayes mean—was she really going to let Jasper Cheng hit her?
"Princess Lily Hayes, you wouldn't dare! If my father finds out, he'll never forgive you!" Lana Evans was so angry she looked like a furious toad.
The moment Lana Evans mentioned Sam Evans, Princess Lily Hayes grew even angrier. Her gaze was icy, like blades of frost. "Lana Evans, you'd better pray your father is safe and sound. If you make him worry himself sick, I'll send you down to keep him company!"
Lana Evans glared, her eyes wide with disbelief. "I don't believe you. You wouldn't dare—I'm your cousin!"
"Hmph! Just try me and you'll see if I dare or not." Princess Consort Lily's voice was laced with anger. Jasper Cheng, sensing trouble, quickly stepped in to stop Lana Evans from making things worse. As Lana opened her mouth to retort, Jasper mustered all his strength and slapped her across the face, scolding, "You wretched brat! When Princess Consort Lily teaches you a lesson, you should listen. How dare you talk back! I'll teach you to be insolent!"
Jasper Cheng landed five or six heavy slaps in a row, leaving Lana Evans stunned and sitting on the ground, completely dazed.
Seizing the opportunity to ingratiate himself, Jasper Cheng said, "Princess Consort Lily, don't worry. As your future brother-in-law, I'll make sure to discipline Lana Evans properly. I guarantee she'll be obedient and respectful to you, never daring to talk back again."
Princess Consort Lily looked at Jasper Cheng coldly. "If you dare call me 'Princess Consort Sister' again, I'll have my men cut out your tongue."
Terrified, Jasper Cheng quickly covered his mouth and waved his hands. "I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare! Please forgive me, Your Highness!"
"Get out. Both of you, out!" Princess Consort Lily looked at the pair, utterly disgusted.
Jasper Cheng didn't dare linger. He hurriedly dragged Lana Evans out of Lily's Courtyard, only stopping to catch his breath once they were far away.
"Young Master! How could you hit me for that woman's sake!" Lana Evans complained, clutching her face.
At that moment, Jasper Cheng looked at Lana Evans's foolish expression and wanted to beat her again. But since she was Princess Consort Lily's legitimate sister-in-law, he held back, suppressing his temper and spoke gently, "Lana, it hurts me more than it hurts you! How could I not care for you, not love you? But your sister, Princess Consort Lily, controls the household. If we don't win her favor now, and she refuses to let you marry me, what will we do? I'm swallowing my pride for you—it's all to marry you. Silly girl, don't you understand my heart yet?"
