Forced Marriage

Charles Yin spoke in a calm, steady voice that brooked no argument—his authority was absolute.

Everyone quickly cleared out, leaving the room to the two top figures of Yin Enterprises.

Grandma Evelyn Yin looked up at her grandson—her favorite and proudest one in this lifetime.

Ever since he took over as CEO, Charles Yin had raised the family's market value by a full twenty percent, securing Yin Enterprises' position at the top.

But his marriage had always been up in the air, and plenty of people were eager for the next heir to the Yin family.

To outsiders, he was the formidable boss of the company.

But in front of his grandma, he was just her grandson.

So when no one else was around, Charles Yin's imposing presence softened considerably.

"Grandma, why are you here?" Charles Yin asked gently after everyone else had left. "If you're not feeling well, why not have the doctor come to the house? You shouldn't have to come all the way here yourself."

"Don't try to fool me, kid. You think I don't know what's going on?" Grandma Evelyn Yin's face was all smiles as she said cheerfully, "This is about the next heir for our Yin family—how could I not show up for something so important?"

"Grandma! What fourth generation? Are you mistaken? Dina doesn't want to get married right now, so how could there be a fourth generation?" Charles Yin replied immediately, refusing to admit any connection with the woman inside.

Grandma Evelyn Yin reached out and gave Charles Yin a hard knock on the head, saying, "Stop trying to fool me! If Lydia Lin is so ungrateful and insists on her career, let her chase it. Our Yin Enterprises isn't short of women willing to have your child!"

"Grandma, you're not thinking of having that woman inside give birth to the child, are you?" Charles Yin's sense of foreboding grew stronger, and he frowned, "No way, absolutely not!"

Grandma Evelyn Yin's eyes turned cold. "You're still waiting for Lydia Lin? Charles, I let you be because you liked her all these years. But look at how long she's made you wait! All these years, when has she ever agreed to have your child? Does our Yin family need her money? If she wants to keep modeling, she can do it after having a child! But what happened? You're already twenty-eight. How much longer can you wait?"

"But Grandma, didn't you promise me? As long as I became CEO, you wouldn't interfere in my marriage!" Charles Yin was getting frustrated too, his eyes showing a hint of anger.

"But you also promised Grandma that you'd get married at twenty-eight!" Grandma Evelyn Yin's voice rose, clearly annoyed. "What's so great about Lydia Lin? She kept you dangling for years, never giving you a promise or result. If she can't give our Yin family an heir, why should I accept her as my granddaughter-in-law?"

The two of them outside were getting heated, while inside the room, Cecilia Gu slowly woke up, still groggy.

Cecilia Gu slowly opened her eyes to a completely unfamiliar scene.

Exquisite decor and luxurious furniture.

Where... is this place?

Did I just hear someone mention Lydia?

Could I be sick and hallucinating? Lydia is in Milan—how could she be here?

Just as Cecilia Gu was about to get up from bed, she heard a faint voice outside: "The young mistress is awake, hurry and get ready."

The next second, Cecilia saw the door open. An elegant older lady entered—her beauty undiminished by the years, her presence commanding. Behind her followed a group of doctors and nurses in hospital uniforms.

Cecilia Gu was stunned, completely clueless about what was happening.

She only remembered that before she fainted, she was at work—she still had a meeting to attend!

Oh no, she actually forgot about such an important meeting!

Just as Cecilia was about to get up, the elegant old lady stopped her, eyes full of joy and satisfaction.

"Don't move, let the doctors check you again," the lady said with a smile. "You're now the hero of the Yin family—let others handle things for you."

Cecilia Gu looked at her in confusion. "Excuse me, may I ask... who are you? And how did I end up here?"

The old lady laughed and replied, "I'm the chairwoman of Yin Enterprises, Charles Yin's grandmother. What's your name?"

"Cecilia Gu, my name is Cecilia Gu," she answered quickly. "Chairwoman, I... I didn't mean to... I really don't know... I'll go back to work right away, please don't fire me! I promise I won't make another mistake!"

Grandma Evelyn Yin gently raised her finger, signaling Cecilia not to speak.

Cecilia Gu looked at Grandma Evelyn Yin in confusion, not understanding what she meant.

"Just rest well. Don't worry, as long as I'm here, no one at the company dares to fire you!" Grandma Evelyn Yin looked at Cecilia's face, satisfaction flickering in her eyes. "As long as you safely deliver the Yin family's child, I won't treat you badly."

With that, Grandma Evelyn Yin turned and left.

Cecilia Gu was left sitting there, completely bewildered.

Deliver the child? What child?
