Irreconcilable Conflict

12/2/2025

Though she thought so, her body acted more rationally than her mind, moving to prevent the impending tragedy.

Morgan Shangguan's eyes flashed. Beneath her sleeve, her hand moved imperceptibly, releasing a palm strike towards Julian Ji in the chaos—no one noticed.

Julian Ji was caught off guard. A sudden wound appeared on his leg, causing him to collapse to his knees—right in front of Marjorie Wan.

The five elders of the Cloud Guild were personally chosen by Morgan Shangguan. Since they were people she trusted, internal conflict was unacceptable. She had trained them for teamwork, ensuring that in times of crisis, no one would abandon a companion. When Julian Ji was injured and fell before Marjorie Wan, she instinctively moved to protect him as blades thrust at him in the chaos. Yet in doing so, she completely missed the chance to save Liam Liu!

"Big Brother..." Kimberly Liu cried out, suddenly unleashing unimaginable strength as she dashed forward.

Damien Gray did not attack quickly, for he was in no hurry to kill Liam Liu. Angering him meant escape was impossible—a foolish dream. He would make him taste death slowly, savoring the despair of standing at hell's gate.

The moment Damien Gray struck, the color drained from Liam Liu’s face. Already pale from blood loss, he now looked as ghostly as death itself. Facing this monster—mouth agape, ready to devour him—Liam Liu suddenly felt utterly insignificant, powerless to resist. At last, his reason returned, and regret flooded his heart. He had waited so many years, only to lose control now. He could not accept dying like this!

Seeing Kimberly Liu rush to his side, Liam Liu acted without thinking—he grabbed her and pulled her in front of him as a shield.

Damien Gray did not relent. His palm struck Kimberly Liu, who screamed in pain and collapsed, cold sweat beading on her face. Tears streamed from her eyes as she looked at Liam Liu, her gaze filled with disbelief, heartbreak, and disappointment.

She would die for him—because she loved him! But what she never expected was that Liam Liu would disregard her life, even the child in her womb, not caring at all. Though that was just a lie she used to bind him to her!

Liam Liu stood beside her, unwilling to meet her gaze and not daring to make another move against Damien Gray. Damien, too, was in no hurry to act—he simply watched, as if amused, a faint mockery at his lips. But when he looked at Morgan Shangguan, his cold eyes instantly softened, gentle as water.

Only she could melt the coldness in his heart, letting him feel warmth.

Morgan Shangguan met his gaze, a hint of warmth in her eyes. Absentmindedly, she stroked her belly, the corners of her lips lifting in a gentle smile.

Marjorie Wan freed Julian Ji, but upon witnessing this scene, her eyes dimmed. Though she disliked Kimberly Liu, she knew Kimberly truly loved Liam Liu. No matter what means she used, it was all for Liam. Marjorie believed that if Kimberly faced such a moment, she would never let Liam Liu die.

What kind of man had she fallen in love with?

Those of the Righteous Path found Liam Liu’s actions shameful. They prided themselves on justice, yet Liam had let a defenseless woman die for him, violating the code of chivalry—unworthy to be an estate master!

Anyone with a discerning eye could see Kimberly Liu’s injury: her meridians severed, bones shattered—she lay limp on the ground, unable to move.

No one was surprised—when the Ghostmaster struck, such an outcome was expected. What worried them was that they might end up the same way.

After all, the Righteous Path had gathered this time to eliminate the Ghostmaster and the Cloud Guildmaster. With the Ghostmaster’s temperament, he would show no mercy. If he was displeased, he might kill them all without batting an eye.

They must have been out of their minds to provoke him. Now what? As they imagined their possible fate, their faces grew pale, each desperately searching for a way out.

The entire arena fell silent. Everyone stopped fighting, their breaths unconsciously growing shallow as they looked at Damien Gray in fear. Felix Yu, master of Jade Dragon Manor, had already been torn to pieces; now it seemed Liam Liu, Head of Liu Estate, would fare no better. Liam Duanmu, Head of Duanmu Estate, and Master Ye, Leader of Ye Sect, were both wounded. Even the Alliance Leader was no match for the Ghostmaster. How could these minor figures dare act rashly? The outcome of this struggle between good and evil was already decided.

After a long while, Kimberly Liu’s trembling voice finally broke the silence. "I once thought I came to this world just to meet you, but I didn’t expect that what I believed was fate was only a doomed entanglement..."

Seeing Liam Liu avoid her gaze, Kimberly forced a smile that wasn’t truly a smile, then turned to Marjorie Wan. "I always believed happiness was something you had to fight for... That’s why I tried everything to drive you away... But I never wanted to admit that he loves you more..." She coughed twice before continuing, "Even though he isn’t worthy of my love, I... had no choice... Please... save him..."

Marjorie Wan remained silent. Perhaps Kimberly Liu loved Liam Liu even more than she did! She glanced at Morgan Shangguan, knowing that only Morgan could save Liam—otherwise, there was nothing she could do.

Morgan Shangguan spoke softly, "Marjorie, if I asked the Ghostmaster to spare him, it would only make his death even more miserable." She smiled enigmatically. "The Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild are as incompatible as fire and water."

Marjorie Wan couldn’t help but frown. She knew Morgan Shangguan’s words meant she had no intention of saving Liam Liu. Otherwise, even if the Ghostmaster refused to let him go, the Cloud Guildmaster would have many ways to intervene.

When Julian Ji tried to speak, Morgan Shangguan’s smile vanished. She looked at him with authority and said softly, "What if the one who rushed forward just now had been Marjorie?"

That one sentence was enough to silence Julian Ji. If he hadn’t been suddenly injured, it would have been Marjorie Wan who was hurt now. Glancing at the miserable Kimberly Liu, Julian Ji had no intention of speaking further.

As for Liam Liu, Morgan Shangguan had no plans to let him off easily. First, he hurt her Cloud Guild members; now, he wanted her to sacrifice one for three lives. If she let him go, she wouldn’t be Morgan Shangguan!
