Identity of the Maiden Soul

Evan Chu glanced at the unconscious Lillian Zhang. Seeing she was in no real danger, he immediately pulled the quilt over her body, then dressed himself—after all, being exposed like this wasn't exactly appropriate.

With a thought, he instantly activated Light Transformation. Brilliant particles of light surged from his body, surrounding Lillian and forming a Light Barrier. Now, that girl's soul could no longer re-enter her body.

Evan Chu shot a cold look at the girl's soul and said, "Should I just destroy you? You actually dared to latch onto my woman's body. Did you think you were clever? I noticed you long ago—even if you never realized it."

With that, Evan dropped his disguise and reverted to his true appearance. The girl's soul stared in shock, "You—you're really Evan Chu? How is this possible?!"

"Who are you, really? Why did you do this? If you tell the truth, maybe I'll let you go—after all, you haven't done anything truly evil. Otherwise, I'd have killed you already. Don't think being a soul lets you hide; my eyes are sharp enough to see through ghosts and illusions alike." Evan Chu declared.

The girl's soul floundered, overwhelmed by shock. "Did you spot me inside her the first time you entered the hall? Why didn't you expose me then? Why force me out this way?"

"I didn't notice at first," Evan explained, "but your tone and eyes made me suspicious. Lillian's love for me is no less than Faye's or Ivy's—if she saw me, she'd be excited. But you showed no reaction and even denied I was Evan Chu. That made me look closer, and sure enough, I found a powerful soul inside her. Forcing you out was tricky—if I used brute force and hurt her, it'd be a disaster."

So I had to take a step back and come in under a different identity. Before that, I checked this room—the way it’s decorated, it’s clearly a maiden’s boudoir, not a married woman’s. That told me you’d be shy about anything between men and women. If I pressed you into a bridal night with a stranger, you’d definitely refuse.

Since you’d refuse but still want to avoid giving yourself away, you’d have no choice but to leave Lillian’s body. That’s exactly what I hoped you’d do.

And another thing—Faye and Ivy noticed something was off about you long ago. My second appearance was actually planned with them, but you didn’t know that. You really thought that was the real Evan Chu just now? That’s almost laughable.

Now that your true form is exposed, what else do you have to say? My patience is running thin, and this Firmament Light Mirror is the perfect weapon to erase you." As Evan finished speaking, he took out the Firmament Light Mirror from his storage ring.

Seeing the Firmament Light Mirror in Evan's hand, the girl's soul became even more unsettled, her entire body visibly trembling. Evan couldn't quite tell if it was fear or shock.

"How do you have the Firmament Light Mirror? Where did you get it?" Clearly, the girl knew about the artifact—or maybe she had a deeper connection to it.

Evan Chu gave a faint smile. "What, scared now? You know how terrifying the Firmament Light Mirror is. There's still time to talk—otherwise, your death is next!"

"You really want to know my origins? I'm afraid the truth will frighten you! You think the Firmament Light Mirror can hurt me? You're far too naive.

The Firmament Light Mirror is deadly against Demonic Realm beings and ghosts, but it's useless against me. If you don't believe it, try! You must be a top-tier Immortal Realm expert, or you couldn't use it at all," the girl's soul said.

Evan paused, surprise flickering across his face. "Who are you, really? Why are you in the Netherworld? If I'm not mistaken, you must be someone who ascended to the Immortal Realm, or maybe you were born in the God Realm itself."

"You're pretty smart. I wasn't born in the God Realm, but in the Netherworld. I'm the daughter of Destroyer Nether Venerable, one of the Four Nether Venerables. That Firmament Light Mirror was my father's ancient weapon—it isn't an ordinary artifact, but a primordial Nether weapon. It recognizes my bloodline, so you can't attack me with it," the girl's soul replied.

The more Evan listened, the more shocked he became. He never imagined the girl's identity would be so extraordinary. A Nether Venerable? That must be the Netherworld counterpart to a God-Venerable—an apex powerhouse. But how did the Firmament Light Mirror end up with the Emerald Immortal Empress? That was a mystery.

"Why are you just a soul now, and why did you appear in the Netherworld? I know you're a kind person—otherwise you would've seized Lillian's body completely, not just attached yourself as a soul," Evan asked.

He had a hunch that he could learn some ancient secrets from this girl's mouth—maybe even things connected to his own reincarnation and the Frostbane Divine Palace in the God Realm.

"The Firmament Light Mirror was lost in the God Realm during the War of the Gods. Most of its functions are gone—otherwise, you wouldn't be able to use it. Its greatest power comes from the light element, and ordinary people can't wield it at all.

My father died in that war. Two of the Four Nether Venerables perished, the other two returned to the Netherworld wounded. As one of the Four Nether Princesses, I heard the news and wanted to avenge my father in the God Realm. But on the way, I ran into a Demon Venerable from the Demonic Realm.

He coveted my beauty and tried to violate me. His strength was terrifying—he slaughtered everyone I led. To preserve my purity, I was forced to self-destruct. Yet a wisp of my soul survived, drifting through worlds for countless years until I ended up here," the girl's soul said.

Evan Chu was a bit confused and asked, "No one tried to stop you from going to the God Realm? Wasn't that basically suicide?"

"If I’d gone openly, the other two Nether Venerables—my father’s closest friends—would’ve stopped me. So I snuck away, but ran into trouble I never expected," the girl's soul replied.

"What's your name? How can I help you? Looks like killing you isn’t an option—you’re just another tragic soul. Do you know about the Frostbane Divine Palace in the God Realm? Did your fight there involve them?" Evan Chu asked.

"You know about the Frostbane Divine Palace? Who exactly are you?" The girl's soul was visibly shocked by Evan's question...

"You know about the Frostbane Divine Palace? Who are you, really?" The girl's soul was visibly stunned, unable to hide her shock at Evan's question.
