This Is Not Over Yet

When Joe Di emerged, he finally understood what the others meant. Going in and coming out were completely different—because the chaotic void currents were flowing in reverse, the entire Wormhole Gate was like a vortex, sweeping him back inside. Every step outward was extremely difficult.

Joe Di sighed inwardly. No wonder those trapped here were unwilling to leave; if he were in their shoes, he wouldn’t want to either. This was clearly a suicidal act. At a normal walking pace, it would take at least two hours to cover a single mile, and the entrance was dozens of miles away. Being caught by the next wave of the Insect Horde was inevitable.

While it was difficult for them to make progress in the Wormhole Gate, the insects clearly had no such trouble. It seemed to be tied to their innate abilities—they moved through the Wormhole Gate like wind, as swift as lightning.

As soon as everyone emerged, they felt the struggle. Some cultivators even considered turning back. This kind of wormhole wasn’t something that could be overcome by courage alone.

But soon, they felt the reverse vortex around them weaken, and then Joe Di’s voice called out, “Everyone, hurry! Keep up with my pace.”

Joe Di’s Law Array Banner directly blocked the chaotic vortex, and their speed was now a hundred times faster than before.

Feeling the sweeping force around them suddenly diminish, the cultivators on either side were overjoyed and charged out after Joe Di with all their might.

In just the time it takes to burn an incense stick, the group had rushed out of the Wormhole Gate, greeted by hundreds of astonished eyes.

Maya Mu spotted Joe Di at first glance and exclaimed in delight, "Simon Di, you actually made it out of the Wormhole Gate?"

Throughout the history of guarding the Wormhole Gate, it wasn’t unheard of for someone to break out, but such cases were extremely rare—only three people in total.

As for those cultivators who managed to escape the Wormhole Gate, each one possessed a powerful treasure for protection. Although they made it out, their treasures were exposed as well. Those three who broke out before were never heard from again. Any cultivator with a bit of sense understood that their fates could not have been good.

Joe Di nodded gloomily and cupped his fists toward Maya Mu. "Alliance Leader Mu, I am truly ashamed. Although my speed was fast, I still failed to find Richard Ni. Along the way, I encountered some fellow cultivators trapped in the Wormhole Gate, and with the help of an array disc passed down by my master, I managed to escape."

Joe Di decided to refine an array disc later; otherwise, it would be hard to explain how he managed to escape.

“Are you Fellow Daoist Peng Ce?”

“Brother Zhang...”

Many of the cultivators who escaped with Joe Di were recognized. They greeted each other in surprise and delight. None had ever seen cultivators swept into the Wormhole Gate survive for so many years and then escape—let alone in such numbers.

“What happened?” There was no need for Joe Di to explain; the cultivators who escaped with him were already telling the story. The crowd soon learned that there was a hidden defense array within the Wormhole Gate, and dozens of people had been trapped inside.

When they heard that these escapees had never entered the Insect Domain, the crowd finally understood. Of course—if someone entered the Insect Domain, it would be a miracle just to survive, let alone return to the Dao Domain.

"Simon Di..." Zane Wu’s breath was somewhat unsteady, and he bore several wounds. Upon seeing Joe Di, he immediately came over to greet him, his eyes full of joy.

Even though he knew Joe Di was formidable, this was the Wormhole Gate, after all.

"Simon Di..." Evan Kan also came over to greet Joe Di, visibly excited. He had befriended Joe Di precisely because of his immense strength. Evan never believed Joe Di would fall so easily in the Wormhole Gate—and he had been right.

He even saw the woman who had been kicked into the Wormhole Gate by Ryan Ni. Not long ago, Joe Di had asked him about her name, seeming somewhat concerned. Soon after, Ryan Ni was inexplicably swept into the Wormhole Gate, and this Fellow Daoist Simon also entered...

To say Simon went in to save Ryan Ni, Evan Kan couldn’t quite convince himself. But to rescue that woman—it seemed a lot more plausible.

"Fellow Daoist Zane, Fellow Daoist Kan, Alliance Leader Mu... Although I had the help of an array disc in the Wormhole Gate, my vitality is greatly depleted and I need to rest for a while." Simon Di cupped his fists, cutting off Maya Mu before she could speak. He definitely wasn’t going to waste words now.

Maya Mu had no doubts about Joe Di’s words. Not just her—no one here would ever question what Joe Di said.

For Joe Di to escape the Wormhole Gate was already luck beyond luck. As for saving Ryan Ni? That was a dream. Still, with Joe Di risking himself to enter the Wormhole Gate in search of Ryan Ni, Maya Mu would have an explanation in the future. No matter what, she had done her best. If she still couldn’t escape disaster, there was nothing more she could do.

"Simon Di, go rest for now. Although we suffered some losses before, with more than a dozen new people this time, we have gained powerful reinforcements." Maya Mu had a very favorable impression of Joe Di. No matter what, his rescue attempt had helped her.

“Thank you.” After speaking, Joe Di casually took out some array flags and set up a rough seventh-level shielding immortal array before entering it.

Everyone has their own secrets, so when Joe Di shielded himself with the immortal array to rest, no one found it strange.

Once inside his shielding array, Joe Di immediately set up a ninth-level divine sense isolation barrier. He didn’t need rest at all—his first task was to refine an array disc.

Joe Di’s array mastery had long surpassed the ranks of ninth-level Immortal Array Emperor. Now, using the finest materials and sparing no effort, the array disc he refined was sure to exceed the ninth-level immortal array disc.

As for whether anyone could tell it had just been refined, Joe Di had no worries. He cultivated the Dao of Rules and understood the laws of time. By integrating several time law restrictions into the disc, he could easily mask any traces of its creation. Mixing in a bit of primordial energy from the Ninth World, it would be nearly impossible to tell when the disc had been made.

As for whether it would be discovered years later, that was not Joe Di’s concern. For now, he just needed to get through the current crisis.

To ensure the array disc was as perfect as possible, Joe Di spent a full day refining it.

By the time Joe Di emerged, the others had already repelled several waves of insect attacks.

"Simon Di, are you alright now?" Maya Mu greeted Joe Di happily when she saw him emerge.

Simon Di cupped his fists and said, "Thank you, Alliance Leader Mu. Earlier, I was afflicted by insect poison, but after a day of healing, I’m mostly recovered now."

The other cultivators rescued by Joe Di finally had a chance to thank him. If not for Joe Di, none of them would have escaped. Through this, Joe Di learned the woman’s name was Serena Heng. Serena would probably never realize that Joe Di had entered the Wormhole Gate for her—and had even avenged her.

"Simon Di, now that Ryan Ni has been swept into the Wormhole Gate, I fear this matter is far from over..." Maya Mu’s eyes were full of worry.

Simon Di looked at Maya Mu in confusion and asked, "Why?"

Maya Mu sighed and casually set up a simple isolation barrier. "Simon Di, you probably don’t know how powerful the Qian Yuan Trading Guild is. Don’t be fooled by how unrelated this seems to me, or by the fact that you risked your life to rescue Ryan Ni. The Guild’s chairman, Richard Ni, is extremely unreasonable—and extremely strong. In the end, it won’t just be me who suffers. Also, I’m very sorry, but I fear your array disc won’t be safe for long..."

Maya Mu was truly apologetic. Joe Di had risked his life to give her a way out, but now his treasure would have to be handed over.

Simon Di was silent for a long time before finally sighing. "We’ll deal with it when the time comes. Besides, the Qian Yuan Trading Guild hasn’t sent anyone over yet. Maybe Ryan Ni isn’t dead after all."

Hearing Simon Di’s words, Maya Mu’s eyes lit up. That’s right—if Ryan Ni had died, Richard Ni would have known by now. If he knew his son had perished here, there’s no way he wouldn’t have sent someone already.

The only possibility was that Ryan Ni was still alive. Didn’t many people get rescued from the Wormhole Gate? Perhaps Ryan Ni was hiding somewhere inside as well.
