Stay Out of My Way
After exchanging a few pleasantries, both parties departed.
They went up the mountain, while Grace and Joanna Zuo descended.
But as soon as they came down, they witnessed a shocking scene.
By the roadside, a carriage was parked, and Andrew Zhao was leaning against it with Lily Xu, the two of them flirting openly.
Grace glanced worriedly at Joanna, but Joanna's face remained blank, betraying no emotion.
"Oh? Who do we have here?" Lily Xu noticed them. "Joanna, why don't you greet your junior when you see her? Where are you rushing off to?"
"Seeing you two is enough to dirty my eyes. Why would I bother greeting you?" Joanna replied coldly.
"Heh! Look at that bitter face!" Lily Xu giggled seductively, half leaning on Andrew Zhao. "Women who don't have a man are always like this! Joanna, I don't blame you!"
Joanna took a deep breath and pulled Grace away.
Behind them, Andrew Zhao sneered, "In such a hurry to leave Duke Zhao Mansion, I thought you had found yourself a good man! Looks like you're just destined to be a lonely widow! Those two kids of yours will only be laughed at and trampled on—never able to rise above!"
Both of them had divorced, and Grace originally didn’t want to get involved.
But after hearing those words, she stopped walking.
She turned around and walked up to Andrew Zhao, standing right in front of him.
"What do you want?" Andrew Zhao asked nervously.
Grace lifted her foot and suddenly kicked Andrew Zhao right in his groin.
Andrew tried to dodge, but he wasn’t fast enough.
With her Spirit Master, Ninth Rank powers, Grace was among the top cultivators in the Vermilion Kingdom. Andrew Zhao was nowhere near her level.
"Ah!" Andrew Zhao screamed in agony, rolling on the ground and clutching his legs.
"Grace, how dare you hit him? He’s the heir to Duke Zhao!" Lily Xu shouted, jumping up.
Grace spun around and slapped Lily Xu across the face, sending her spinning and completely disoriented.
"How did things get so rotten these days? Adulterers flaunt their affairs right by the roadside! Even pigs and dogs know to hide their shame. You two are worse than animals!" Grace said.
"Grace, who do you think you are?" Lily Xu yelled furiously. "What right do you have to meddle in our business?"
"Because I can't stand it, and my fists are strong. Got a problem?" Grace shot back.
"You..." Lily Xu was about to lose it. "I'm going to report you to the Alliance Leader for attacking me!"
"Do you have any evidence?"
"They saw everything!" Lily Xu pointed at the two guards by the mountain gate.
Grace raised an eyebrow and asked the two guards, "What did you see?"
The two guards answered with blank faces, "We didn't see anything."
"Hear that? They didn’t see a thing! So from now on, you two better steer clear of me! If I see you again, I’ll beat you again!" Grace warned.
"You... you..." Lily Xu pointed at Grace and then at the guards, too angry to speak.
"Disgusting! You two need a good beating!" Grace shot them a glare and walked off with Joanna.
Joanna smiled at Grace as they walked.
"What are you laughing at?"
"That was so satisfying," Joanna laughed. "Thank you!"
"Those two are getting more shameless by the day," Grace shook her head. "There’s a limit to what I can tolerate!"
"But why did those two guards say they didn’t see anything?"
Grace replied, "They have a sense of justice!"
"Not really, right?" Joanna looked at her.
"Actually... I guess it’s because they were sent by the Imperial Court to guard the place. And right now, the Imperial General is good friends with my dad! They know exactly which side to take, haha!" Grace laughed.
