Injury Upon Injury

Just before Evan Yang felt he was about to die, he took out the box given by the mysterious woman. Thinking of the last pill left, Evan sighed, "Since I’m almost done for, I’ll let you have this pill too."

If anyone were here, they’d surely be curious who Evan Yang was talking to.

As soon as Evan Yang took out the pill, it was absorbed, leaving only residue. "Let’s see what changes you make," Evan said, using the Inner-Viewing Technique to check the seed after it finished absorbing the pill.

Sure enough, after absorbing the pill, the seed started to grow slowly, like a mischievous child poking out a sprout. It stopped with just a tiny tip outside. "Damn, you really are a vampire. That’s all the change I get?" Evan cursed when he saw only a bean-sized sprout.

Helpless, Evan lay on his bed staring at the ceiling. "Looks like I won’t live long—there’s always something stealing my pills."

Without the healing pill, Evan could only stare at the ceiling and wait for death. Just as he recalled his sad past, a cool sensation spread through his body. "What’s this?"

Evan used the Inner-Viewing Technique again and saw something amazing: the newly sprouted bud was releasing faint yellow gas, not the pale green gas the seed usually emitted. Even more, the yellow gas was actively repairing Evan’s injured tissues.

“Has it evolved again?” Evan was both surprised and delighted by what he saw.

Just as Evan expected, the yellow gas slowly healed him. The pain faded, damaged tissues repaired themselves. "Looks like you didn’t absorb it for nothing," Evan finally relaxed, realizing the seed had evolved. He was both annoyed and amused that the seed would even compete with him for pills.

Soon, Evan’s body was almost fully healed and he could move freely. "It’s good to be alive," he said happily.

Just then, Tiger Sun pushed open the door. He was shocked to see Evan already up. "Kid, you’re better so soon?"

"Uh? Yeah, Elder Lee’s pill worked really well. I’m almost fully healed, but my body still hurts—I can’t do anything too strenuous." Evan credited all the effects to Elder Lee’s pill.

Tiger Sun didn’t doubt him, just sighed, “There are two powerful experts in the main hall who want to see you.”

“Experts? Why?” Evan felt something was off—did they want trouble because he survived the pocket realm?

“You’ll find out when you get there,” Tiger Sun said, worried for Evan.

“Alright.” Evan nodded and followed Tiger Sun toward the Rising Sun Sect’s main hall.

When Evan arrived, he saw a man with blue eyebrows and another handsome man holding a fan standing in the hall, confronting Elder Lee and several elders. These two were Bluebrow Daoist and Pretty Boy.

Seeing Evan appear, Bluebrow Daoist fixed him with an intense stare and smiled, “Kid, you finally showed up.”

“Is it him?” Pretty Boy said excitedly.

Elder Lee walked over and stood protectively in front of Evan, bowing respectfully. “Honored seniors, I’ve already explained that this young disciple entered by accident. Please don’t hold it against him.”

“So what if you hold it against him? Get out of the way.” Bluebrow Daoist casually extended his hand, then waved it. Elder Lee was sent flying, crashing into a pillar and spitting blood.

“Elder Lee!” Evan Yang was shocked, and the others were just as stunned. Faced with such powerful experts, no one in the Rising Sun Sect could stop them.

Seeing Elder Lee bleeding, Bluebrow Daoist smiled indifferently. “Kid, you’d better tell me exactly what happened inside, or all the elders here will die because of you.”

Evan glared angrily at Bluebrow Daoist and shouted, “You’re looking for me; this has nothing to do with Elder Lee!”

“You’ve got guts, kid. Fine, just tell us what happened inside.” Bluebrow Daoist said after seeing Evan’s determined gaze.

Pretty Boy also chimed in, “Kid, just tell us the truth about what happened, and I promise you’ll be fine.”

Bluebrow Daoist was annoyed by Pretty Boy’s words. “You sissy.” He had originally planned to come to the Rising Sun Sect alone, but Pretty Boy seemed to follow him everywhere like he had a tracking device.

Pretty Boy knew exactly what Bluebrow Daoist was thinking. When everyone chased after the mysterious possessor, only Bluebrow Daoist came to the Rising Sun Sect alone, which made Pretty Boy set his sights on him.

At that moment, Evan felt himself crushed under an invisible pressure. “Is this what they call aura?” Under the weight, Evan’s face turned red and his whole body was nearly transformed into a man of blood.

Elder Lee was seriously injured and wanted to help Evan, but couldn’t. The other elders, who had no close connection to Evan, dared not step forward. Only Tiger Sun pleaded, “Senior, please spare him.”

“Hmph, let’s see how long your backbone lasts.” Bluebrow Daoist sneered coldly. Pretty Boy urged, “Kid, you’d better speak up quickly, or things won’t be so simple if Bluebrow Daoist resorts to harsher methods.”

One Bluebrow Daoist, one Pretty Boy—Evan had already come to hate them to the extreme. Not just for himself, but for Elder Lee, who had saved his father and protected him in the Rising Sun Sect. If Evan had the power, he’d teach both of them a lesson right now. “Damn it, Bluebrow Daoist, one day I’ll repay you a hundredfold.”

Knowing who he was dealing with, Evan forced himself to swallow the blood in his mouth, afraid the two would notice its strange color. Out loud, he said, “I’ll talk.” He wasn’t afraid of death—he just wanted to live long enough to get revenge.

“Speak!” The invisible pressure vanished as Bluebrow Daoist arrogantly ordered.

Evan glanced at the badly wounded Elder Lee, then slowly recounted everything that happened in the pocket realm. When Bluebrow Daoist and Pretty Boy finished listening, they were both shocked.

Bluebrow Daoist still wasn’t convinced. “Are you sure it was body-seizing?”

“Yes. That monster was originally a Rising Sun Sect disciple, only at Qi-Refining level.” Evan remembered vividly how the possessor had almost killed him with a single move.

“Could he have resurrected?” Pretty Boy muttered in alarm.

After thinking for a moment, Bluebrow Daoist asked Evan, “Did you see anything like a giant spiral shell—about as thick as an adult and half as tall as a person?” He gestured to show the size.

Seeing his gesture, Evan was startled. Aside from the size, it matched the strange spiral shell he’d picked up. Knowing how important it was to Bluebrow Daoist, Evan pretended to be calm and replied, “No, I didn’t see anything like that.”

“Strange, very strange.” Bluebrow Daoist said, sounding disappointed.

Pretty Boy asked curiously, “Bluebrow Daoist, what exactly were you looking for?”

“What else? Of course, I was after the spiral shell once owned by Gavin Jiang of the Shadowhand Guild. I thought I could find it in there, but with the realm destroyed, nothing was found.” Bluebrow Daoist looked lost, as if he’d pursued this treasure for ages.

“What? The legendary spiral shell that stirred up a storm three thousand years ago?” Pretty Boy was stunned after hearing Bluebrow Daoist’s explanation.

Evan was equally shocked. So his little snail was actually a three-thousand-year-old magical treasure. After thinking for a moment, he respectfully suggested, “Seniors, maybe the mysterious possessor took it before the space exploded.”

“That monster? It’s possible. I need to hurry and check, or someone else might get there first!” Bluebrow Daoist suddenly realized and spoke.

Pretty Boy agreed, and the two of them flew off together. Evan finally felt he could breathe, but suddenly Bluebrow Daoist’s voice thundered in his mind, nearly shattering his soul: “Kid, if you hadn’t barged in, none of this would’ve happened! Hmph!”

Evan collapsed to the floor, drained. He cursed Bluebrow Daoist inwardly, vowing to repay him tenfold.

Tiger Sun, thinking Evan had been knocked out by the pressure from the two experts, rushed to help him. “Evan, are you alright?”

“Thanks.” Evan said weakly, then promptly fainted.

When Evan woke up again, he was already back in his own bed. Looking around at the empty room, he realized he could now get up and walk. “Whew, good thing I have you.” He was talking to the seed—the sprouted bud had once again restored his vitality.

After stretching, Evan moved his muscles and bones, then walked outside. He saw Logan Luo pacing anxiously. Logan was shocked to see Evan come out. “Kid, you’re alright?”

“Logan Luo, are you actually worried about me?” Evan asked, feeling a bit incredulous.

“Of course! If you died, who would plant all those herbs?” Logan Luo said urgently.

“Damn, you hypocrite.” Evan cursed inwardly, but smiled and said, “Thanks for your concern, Logan Luo.”

“Good, good, as long as you’re alright. Can you get back to work?” Logan Luo suddenly asked.

“You’re not seriously asking me to plant herbs right now, are you?” Evan looked at Logan Luo strangely.

“Well, recently the upper levels suddenly need a lot of medicinal herbs, and the pressure is huge. You used to be able to plant a lot at once, so it shouldn’t be a problem now, right?” Logan Luo pleaded for the first time.

Evan was curious what the Rising Sun Sect needed so many herbs for every time. So he asked Logan Luo, “Logan Luo, which sect or clan above us is demanding all these herbs?”

“Don’t worry about that. Just focus on planting the herbs.” Logan Luo replied, clearly unhappy with Evan’s questions.

“If you don’t answer, I’ll find a way to deal with you.” Evan thought to himself, but said aloud, “Logan Luo, my injuries might not be fully healed. I’m afraid I can’t work yet.”

“How could that be?” Logan Luo was anxious.

“Logan Luo, maybe you should tell the upper levels that I might not make it, and find someone else to plant the herbs.” Evan pretended to be seriously ill.

“You were fine just now! No, you must plant them, or I’ll lose my job!” Logan Luo rushed forward, circling Evan to see if anything was wrong.

“Lose your job? Is it really that serious?” Evan continued to probe.

“You don’t understand. Our Rising Sun Sect is surrounded by wolves and tigers. We rely on the major sects above us for protection—without enough medicinal materials, they won’t care about us.” Logan Luo finally explained the truth.

“There’s even stuff like that?” Evan had never known the Rising Sun Sect’s real situation. But remembering all the powerful experts flying overhead that day, he guessed the sect was insignificant compared to others—a few experts could wipe it out.

“So you have to help plant the herbs, understand? We’re all counting on you.” Logan Luo was now begging Evan, his tone much humbler.

“Logan Luo, who was in charge of the herb fields before I came?” Evan was curious who had that responsibility before him.

Logan Luo thought for a moment and replied, “Before you came, Elder Lee was in charge. He was interested in medicinal materials, so he planted a lot. But after your father arrived, Elder Lee didn’t have time to take care of them, so it was passed to you.”

“Elder Lee? Elder Lee Yi?” Evan suddenly remembered Elder Lee’s injuries from that day and quickly asked, “Elder Lee, how is he now?”
