Lily Evans' Tactics

"What?" Mason Zhang could hardly believe his ears.

"I'm not lowering the rent. Take it or leave it." Lily Evans was completely indifferent. She didn't care whether these old tenants renewed their leases or not—in fact, she rather hoped they wouldn't.

Because if they renewed, the lease would be signed for a year. The next time Lily wanted to raise the rent, she'd have to wait another year—losing out on a lot of money for nothing.

Now this was perfect—Lily had been worrying about how to raise the rent, and here they all came knocking on her door.

The tenants, who'd been so full of themselves just moments ago, were now stunned, exchanging glances. Secretly, they wondered if this new landlord was some kind of fool.

"Anyway, your leases are up. If you don't want to rent, don't bother renewing." Lily stood up. "If you do want to renew, all of you will sign contracts with me every three months from now on."

A three-month contract made raising the rent much easier. That's the kind of landlord Lily was—bold and unapologetic.

"Wait..." The tenants were thrown off by Lily's move. They'd planned to pressure her into lowering the rent, but not only did that fail—the contracts had been shortened to just three months.

With contracts expiring so quickly, the landlord could kick them out anytime she wanted. The tenants suddenly found themselves at a disadvantage.

"What are we supposed to do now..." The tenants began whispering among themselves.
