This Is What It Means to Stage an Accident

1/4/2026

Cassie Kofi thought about it and realized it made sense!

After all this trouble these past few days, Ethan Yin hadn't said a word.

What did that mean?

It meant he really didn't want to lose that mine!

As long as Cherry Miller had that confidence, what was there to be afraid of?

Last time she failed to frame Cherry Miller, but this time, she absolutely couldn't mess up!

No matter what, she had to change everyone's impression of Cherry Miller!

Meanwhile, Ethan Yin brought Cherry Miller to meet today's birthday star, Mr. Zhang.

Mr. Zhang was eighty-eight this year—a truly long life. He was still in good spirits, chatting with a group of old friends.

When Ethan Yin and Cherry Miller walked over, everyone turned to look at them.

"We're all getting old. This world belongs to the young now," Mr. Zhang spoke first. "You boys should learn from the Yin family. Look at them—not only are they successful in business, but they're also happy in love."

"Yes, Grandpa," the Zhang grandchildren replied obediently.

Ethan Yin walked over with a smile and said, "With praise like that from you, Mr. Zhang, if I don't work harder, I won't deserve your compliments."

Cherry Miller offered her gift with both hands, "Wishing you happiness as vast as the East Sea and longevity as great as the Southern Mountain."

"Wonderful, wonderful." Mr. Zhang laughed and accepted the gift, handing Cherry Miller a red envelope. "Miss Miller, you're young and accomplished. When you have time, please guide my unruly granddaughters."

"You're too kind! Everyone knows the Zhang daughters are all talented and beautiful. There are so many excellent young men out there lining up to marry them!" Cherry Miller accepted the red envelope and nodded to the Zhang granddaughters. "Especially Miss Zhang—I heard you just won another equestrian championship? That's amazing! There aren't many equestrian champions in our country yet!"

The mentioned Miss Zhang immediately smiled, "Miss Miller, you're so busy with work, managing all the Yin family's businesses so well. How could you care about my little equestrian title?"

"Of course I care!" Cherry laughed sincerely. "That's my weak spot, honestly! I've always wanted to try riding the wild horse at home, but I've never dared. Next time you have a chance, Miss Zhang, you must help me tame it!"

"If you ever need anything, just ask," Miss Zhang replied with a reserved smile.

After a round of polite compliments, another wave of guests arrived, so Ethan Yin and Cherry Miller took the chance to leave the room.

The main hall outside was bustling with excitement.

Clearly, a lot of guests had come today.

Although the Zhang Family didn't have the prestige of the Yin Family, they were still an old and respected clan, so they had plenty of relatives and friends.

As the saying goes, a skinny camel is still bigger than a horse.

There were quite a few second-rate families and up-and-coming social climbers hoping to use this chance to connect with the elites.

Sure enough, as soon as Ethan Yin appeared, he was immediately surrounded by a crowd—some flattering, some seeking partnership, and some just eager to please.

Even Cherry Miller was quickly encircled by a group of socialites.

If Ethan Yin was the number one heir among Newport City's new generation, then Cherry Miller was the trendsetter for the city's socialites.

Unlike those privileged heiresses who relied on family, Cherry Miller was a true rising star—she'd reached the top of the social pyramid through her own hard work.

"Miss Miller, I heard your wedding with Ethan Yin is coming up soon. Don't forget to send us invitations! Let us share in your happiness."

"That's right, that's right! Miss Miller and Ethan Yin really are a perfect match. I've always said, no one but Miss Miller could possibly be worthy of such an outstanding man as Ethan Yin."

"More than that! Miss Miller is talented and beautiful, and she's accomplished so much at such a young age. My brother says the businesses you manage for Miss Yin have all made a fortune! He also said, if you invest with Miss Miller, you can't go wrong! Miss Miller, I have some stocks—do you have time to look at them for me?"

"Yes, yes, I'd love to get your advice too, Miss Miller. I have some funds I'm not sure about. Could you take a look for us?"

...

The socialites chattered away, completely surrounding Cherry Miller and refusing to let her go.

From a distance, Cassie Kofi saw how popular Cherry Miller was and felt a pang of jealousy.

Why?

They were all young women, and honestly, Cherry Miller wasn't even as glamorous as she was—so why was Cherry so popular?

Besides, she could tell that those women flattering Cherry Miller were actually jealous of her for locking down Ethan Yin early.

But if they were so jealous, why did they keep complimenting her?

It was simply unacceptable!

No way—she couldn't let Miss Miller keep stealing the spotlight!

She had to make Miss Miller embarrass herself in front of everyone!

Let's see how she'd dare show off in front of all these people after that!

Cassie Kofi waited and waited, until the socialites finally let Miss Miller go. Only then did she sneak over.

"Cherry Miller!" Cassie called out to her just as she was about to leave.

Cherry turned around and, seeing Cassie, asked in surprise, "Miss Casey? You got an invitation from the Zhang Family too?"

"Uh..." Cassie hesitated. She'd actually borrowed someone else's invitation—she'd heard Mr. Yin would be here for the birthday, so she tagged along.

"If there's nothing important, I'll just..." Cherry always got a headache dealing with Cassie, so she tried to slip away as soon as possible.

But this time, Cassie wasn't going to let Cherry get away.

"I do, I do! I have something to say!" Cassie was afraid Cherry would run off, so she quickly said, "Let's find somewhere quiet to talk."

"Fine." Cherry saw Cassie wasn't going to let her go without a chat, so she reluctantly agreed. "Where to?"

"Let's go outside." Cassie had already scoped out the Natural Swimming Pool. She planned to pretend Cherry pushed her in, hoping her miserable state would make Mr. Yin feel sorry for her and make others think Cherry was too domineering!

"Alright." Cherry didn't waste words and followed Cassie out to the courtyard.

Cassie deliberately led Cherry to the Natural Swimming Pool. Cherry gave her a meaningful look, pretending not to notice anything, and followed her to the poolside.

"Say whatever you need to say here—there's no one else around." Cherry said, "I don't have much time, so keep it short."

"Cherry, come a little closer. This is important—I need to whisper it to you." Cassie moved closer, acting mysterious.

"Alright." Cherry stepped forward half a pace.

"Let me tell you..." Cassie started, raising her hand, but before she could pretend to be pushed, Cherry's expression suddenly changed and she fell backward toward the pool.

"You..." Cassie instinctively reached out to grab Cherry.

But it was already too late.

Cherry fell backwards straight into the pool.

Splash!

The huge splash drew everyone's attention!

"What happened? Oh my gosh! Somebody help! Miss Miller was pushed into the water!" one socialite cried out, turning to glare accusingly at Cassie. "Miss, why did you push Miss Miller? She's so gentle and kind—how could you do such a thing?"

"I didn't—I swear I didn't!" Cassie panicked.

How could this happen?

She was supposed to set Cherry up!

So why was it Cherry who ended up in the water?

Where had it gone wrong?

By now, Cherry had already been pulled from the water, wrapped in a large bath towel, her face pale under the lights.

"Miss Miller, are you alright?" someone asked.

Cherry shook her head. "I'm fine."

Cherry neither cried nor blamed anyone. In fact, aside from those three words, she said nothing at all. She just glanced at Cassie and left, still wrapped in the towel.

Yet by saying nothing, Cherry had said it all.

Everyone at the scene glared at Cassie in anger.

"That was way out of line!"

"Seriously, that's just too much! Who is this person? Why would she do such a thing?"

"Miss Miller is so kind! She didn't even complain after being pushed into the water! With a gentle personality like hers, she'll always be bullied by these random people!"
