Returning Home

1/4/2026

After Zachary Qu left, Cecilia Gu sat where she was, feeling that there was something odd about him tonight.

But she couldn't quite put her finger on what was strange.

Zachary Qu was just that kind of person.

Maybe he was just having one of his odd moments tonight?

Still, Zachary Qu was someone with a lot of patience and skill. Under his leadership, the Qu Family would get back on track.

Cecilia Gu was genuinely happy for him.

And just like that, the Qu Family’s troubles came to an end.

Cecilia Gu was ready to go home too.

She’d been away for so long, she really missed home.

After calling Charles Yin, she learned that he had rushed home for a day and then left again for another trip.

Charles Yin tried to hold back his laughter. "Alright, you said it! You can't accuse me of clinging to you anymore! Last time I wanted you to come on a business trip with me, you insisted on being an independent woman, not relying on your husband's family, and insisted on staying at Danni Corp. I only tried to persuade you a little, and you got mad at me. I didn't dare say anything this time!"

Cecilia Gu pouted, "You're still talking!"

"Alright, alright, I won't say another word." Charles Yin tried to stifle his laughter, his eyes full of mischief and satisfaction.

Cecilia Gu huffed and ignored him.

"I'll arrange for someone to escort you over right away." Charles Yin's voice was so gentle it could melt, making it impossible for Cecilia Gu to refuse. "I really miss you, Cecilia."

Cecilia's cheeks flushed red at last.

After ending the call, Charles Yin jumped up with excitement.

He could finally take his wife out in the open.

Last year, Charles Yin had already suggested not being apart from Cecilia Gu, wanting her by his side wherever he went.

But back then, Cecilia Gu was inspired by a book and decided she wanted to be a career woman.

She refused to be with her husband all the time—she wanted her own career, her own space, her own freedom.

And then—

She threw herself into Danni Corp and really became the vice president.

When Charles Yin tried to persuade her, Cecilia Gu shot him down with righteous conviction.

Charles Yin was cunning, after all.

He knew that saying things outright wouldn't work.

Just then, the Qu Family in Malaysia asked him for help, and Charles Yin instantly came up with a plan—three birds with one stone, solving everything perfectly.

During this time, he deliberately let things be, never asking Cecilia Gu to join him on business trips, never interfering with her freedom, never questioning her decisions.

Then, quietly, he sent Cecilia Gu to Malaysia, letting her go through a life-and-death ordeal.

When someone's in danger, the first person they think of is always the one they care about most.

After going through all this, career ambitions just couldn't compare to family.

Sure enough, with Charles Yin's subtle guidance, Cecilia Gu realized what really mattered and stopped chasing her career dreams. She just wanted to be with her family.

Now that Cecilia Gu had given up on her career ambitions herself, Charles Yin could only pretend to look pitiful on the outside, while secretly feeling ecstatic.

Later, Cecilia Gu figured it all out, but she’d already moved past that phase, and it was too late to settle the score with Charles Yin.

So when she left, Cecilia Gu didn’t return to the country with everyone else—instead, she flew straight to where Charles Yin was and reunited with him.

Mo Zixuan didn’t go back either; she returned to England.

Because the Jing Family had run into some trouble lately, she had to go back and check things out.

So the three of them parted ways at the airport.

Everyone went off to handle their own business.

Xue Xue stood in the airport lobby and saw Mo Zixin heading off with an assistant. Her eyes lit up and she hurried after him. "President Mo, are you heading back to the country too? I had trouble booking a ticket. Can I fly back with you? I can pay for my own ticket."

Li Si glared at Xue Xue, her face darkening.

Ever since she was grounded after arguing with Yu Jie, Li Si seemed to have matured a lot.

Even if she was annoyed, she wouldn’t say it out loud anymore.

Yu Jie stood nearby, calmly watching Xue Xue.

Couldn't get a ticket?

She just wanted to get closer, that’s all.

Mo Zixin looked at Xue Xue. To be honest, he didn’t really dislike her.

He could see through her little schemes, but since she was clever and well-behaved, he didn’t mind giving her a lift.

Compared to Li Si, she was practically an angel.

"Sure." Mo Zixin nodded lightly.

"Thank you so much!" Xue Xue was delighted and politely stepped aside, not pestering him further.

Mrs. Xue wanted Xue Xue to keep buttering him up, but Xue Xue shot her a fierce look and stopped her.

Alerting the target too soon is a big mistake.

Li Si looked even more unhappy when she saw Mo Zixin agree to let Xue Xue join them on the flight.

She wanted to say something, but one look at Mo Zixin’s determined face and she had to swallow her words.

"Yu Jie." Mo Zixin called her over. "Come with me for a moment."

"Yes." Yu Jie quickly handed her luggage to someone nearby and followed Mo Zixin into the VIP lounge.

"Sit." Mo Zixin nodded to Yu Jie, and she obediently sat on the sofa across from him.

Soon, someone brought over a fruit platter and drinks in the lounge. Yu Jie kept her gaze steady on Mo Zixin. "President Mo, what can I do for you?"

Mo Zixin smiled gently. "If you run into trouble next time, just come to me directly."

Yu Jie instantly understood—Mo Zixin didn’t want her bothering Cecilia Gu anymore.

Yu Jie smiled. "I’m kind of friends with Mrs. Yin, too."

What she meant was, friends don’t need to be so distant.

Mo Zixin nodded. "About the Ge Family wanting to invest in the villa area—I’ve agreed. But there’s a minimum requirement. If they can’t put up 500 million, then forget it. The Mo Family’s project doesn’t need that little bit of investment."

"I understand." Yu Jie relaxed. "The opportunity is there—whether he can grab it is up to him. I’ll pass the message to the Ge Family."

"Good." Mo Zixin continued, "I’ll go back to Province Y to handle family matters first. When you arrive, transfer directly to City N. You’ll be in charge of the branch office there for now. If there’s anything urgent or you can’t handle, pass it to me."

"Yes, President Mo." Yu Jie straightened up and listened carefully to his instructions.

"This time, working with government agencies will need lots of special paperwork. I’ve already told Cecilia. If you run into trouble, go to her—she’ll help you sort it out." Mo Zixin said, "Since you’re kind of friends, she won’t refuse."

Yu Jie couldn’t help but laugh. "Yes, President Mo."

Mo Zixin’s expression softened a lot. "I’ll probably go to City N next month. Get everything ready."

"Will Miss Li Si be coming too? Should I prepare separate housing for her?" Yu Jie asked.

"Yes." Mo Zixin thought for a moment, then added, "Help me find suitable, unmarried young men for her. Li Si is old enough—it’s time for her to get married."

Yu Jie looked at Mo Zixin in surprise. Was he really planning to marry Li Si off?

That was probably for the best.

At least that way, she wouldn’t keep clinging on stubbornly.

It wasn’t good for anyone.

"Okay." Yu Jie nodded. "I’ll quickly compile a list of eligible bachelors in the nearby cities."

Mo Zixin issued his orders one by one, and Yu Jie recorded and organized everything, ready to get started as soon as she got back.

Mo Zixin’s assistants watched Yu Jie work so efficiently and were very pleased.

A lot of their original tasks were handed over to Yu Jie.

But honestly, some things are just better handled by a woman. If a man did it, it would be way more awkward.

Like arranging blind dates for Li Si, for example.

Before, all of Mo Zixin’s assistants were men.

They just had to grit their teeth and get through it.

Ever since Yu Jie joined Mo Zixin, she’s been both a lawyer and an assistant.

She even handled a lot of chief assistant duties.

So, Mo Zixin’s assistants all got along pretty well with Yu Jie.

Whenever they needed to hand off tasks, she always managed it smoothly.

As soon as the plane landed, one of Mo Zixin’s assistants pulled Yu Jie aside and whispered, "Yu Jie, you need to prioritize finding a match for Li Si. These days, President Mo is being driven crazy by her. We can’t take the heat for our boss, so since he’s ready to marry her off, get on it. Put every eligible candidate on the list. Even though Li Si’s background is pretty average, she’s marrying out of the Mo Family, so President Mo will give her a generous dowry. Try to find some high-society bachelors for her to choose from."

Yu Jie instantly got what he meant.
