In the Depths of the Hades Circle 11

"Why do you call him that?"

Lan Yin suddenly asked, and Mo Yu gave a gentle smile.

"Little Gong, of course. When I'm alone here, he's the only one who keeps me company."

As she spoke, I suddenly saw a child appear in the room—his skin pale, dressed all in white.

"Sister, will you teach me to read?"

"Go back. Why did you come out here?"

Lan Yin seemed to be getting angry, glaring at the child with frustration.

"It's fine. It's late—no one's going to be peeking in the windows now." Mo Yu reassured him.

Mo Yu carefully held a book, while Little Gong smiled beside her. They looked just like mother and child.

Lan Yin was still frustrated. Only after the little ghost left did he explain: he'd received the infant spirit from a monk of the Sanskrit Sect years ago. The resentment had only just begun to fade. Lan Yin promised the child that, once things were settled, he would find a good family for it to reincarnate into.

"So don't get too close to him. Spirits like these can only reincarnate into blessed families—ordinary families can't handle it. If he reincarnates in a regular home, he'll bring misfortune to them."

"Why?"

"The monk said that if your family's luck isn't strong enough, you can't bear the resentment left by the infant spirit's death. This child has died in its mother's womb ten times, never reincarnating properly. Its power is immense."

I blinked in surprise, glancing at the urn Mo Yu had put away. Mo Yu just smiled, gently touching the small urn on her belly.

"Poor Little Gong... Can't he be reborn as my child?"

Mo Yu asked, but Lan Yin shook his head.

Lan Yin continued, explaining that the infant spirit had tried to reincarnate many times, always failing. Its resentment grew, so the monks of the Sanskrit Sect suppressed it for decades. Lan Yin met the monk by chance while collecting souls.

After learning about the infant spirit, Lan Yin came up with his plan. Ordinary ghosts could never fool the eyes of the Hades Circle Born—it had to be an infant spirit.

"Listen, Miss Mo Yu. Don't get too close to him. When your troubles are over, I'll find a blessed family for him to reincarnate into. You need to think carefully about your situation—I've checked, and not a single Hades Circle Born has ever married an outsider."

Lan Yin spoke with a heavy expression. Afterwards, the two went to sleep—Mo Yu on the bed, Lan Yin in a corner of the room.

Lan Yin stayed home for four or five days, but the surveillance grew tighter than ever. Outside Mo Yu's room, a dozen people circled at all hours.

"Wang Su, I'm counting on you to look after my wife and child. I need to finish collecting souls as soon as possible."

Lan Yin was heading out again to collect souls. This time, he planned to find Mo Yu's beloved, a scholar named Lucas Qi, and set off once more.

After Lan Yin left, Mo Yu stayed shut inside, never leaving her room. Every night, when the house was quiet, she would chat and laugh with the infant spirit she called Little Gong.
