Shut the Doors and Release the Dogs

2/14/2026

Evan Lin stood among the crowd, his gaze indifferent. The moment he spoke, the whole hall was stunned.

"You killed my son!"

The middle-aged woman heard Evan Lin’s words, her face twisting into a vicious mask like a raging ghost. She charged straight at Evan, reaching out to claw at him.

Evan Lin frowned slightly, raised one hand, and tapped his fingertip lightly on the woman’s forehead.

A moment ago, the woman’s face was twisted in grief and fury. Suddenly, it froze. Her whole body seemed to be struck by a tremendous force, instantly sent flying backward. She crashed into several tables behind her, rolled across the floor for a long time before finally stopping, left in a heap, howling in pain and completely humiliated.

"You!"

Simon Zuo’s father, a middle-aged man, was furious. He slapped the armrest of his chair, shot to his feet, and glared at Evan Lin with murderous intent. He shouted to the fifty burly enforcers outside the door, "Drag that kid out and chop him up to feed the dogs!"

The man still wasn’t sure if Evan Lin had really killed Simon Zuo, but just from those moves, he’d already made up his mind to kill Evan.

Nina Pei, who was tightly hugging Claire Sheng to keep her from rushing toward Evan Lin, had been full of resentment toward him just moments before. But after witnessing that scene, her eyes widened in disbelief. "Did I see that right?"

No one present had any idea what Evan Lin had done with that fingertip, nor how the middle-aged woman had been sent flying. It was like something straight out of a movie.

Sisi Shao and her group all looked pale as ghosts, staring at Evan Lin like they'd seen something supernatural.

Before, when Evan Lin broke Yang Bin-hong's leg, at least he used his foot—maybe he was just a lot stronger than normal. But what just happened was way beyond anything they could understand.

"Uncle Zuo, there might be some misunderstanding here!"

Rachel Liu quickly stepped forward as she came back to her senses.

"Rachel Liu, this has nothing to do with you. But if you really want to get involved, don't blame me for showing no respect to your Liu family!"

The middle-aged man’s eyes darkened as he glanced at Rachel Liu. "You know Simon was pursuing you, but you kept dragging it out and never gave him a clear answer. You broke his heart. I haven’t even settled that score with you yet!"

As soon as he finished, Rachel Liu went pale and bit her lip.

To her peers, Rachel Liu was like a goddess, always above everyone else. But in the eyes of River City’s upper-class families, she was just a slightly more outstanding junior.

Outside the door, more than fifty burly men charged in with machetes, instantly surrounding Evan Lin and his group.

"Kid, I don't care if you really killed Simon or not, but today, you’re going to the grave with him!"

The middle-aged man was burning with rage, his voice almost crazed as he roared.

"Just them?"

Evan Lin shook his head and spoke calmly: "All together."

"Shit!"

The gang of machete-wielding men felt a wave of humiliation at being looked down on by this skinny teenager. They glared, cursed, and rushed Evan Lin with their blades.

"Ah!"

Sisi Shao screamed in terror.

Thomas Zhao and the others scrambled, clutching their heads and running around in a panic, hiding at the edge of the crowd. The machete guys weren’t after them anyway.

Every single one of them swarmed Evan Lin.

Soon, only Evan Lin was left, completely surrounded.

Evan Lin didn’t dodge or flinch. With a slight sidestep, he slipped past the first machete, and his right hand tapped the big man's wrist. The burly thug, so fierce a moment ago, missed his swing and suddenly collapsed to the ground as if crushed by a thousand pounds.

Without turning his head, Evan took a half-step back. His shoulder bumped right into the second thug’s elbow, his body giving a subtle jolt.

Mountain-Press Shoulder.

The six-foot-tall, two-hundred-pound thug’s face twisted in shock as he was sent flying, crashing into three more thugs behind him, the group tumbling in a heap.

Evan’s gaze stayed cold. He took two steps forward, reached out, and with a single hand, grabbed the blade in front of everyone’s stunned eyes. Then, with a sharp twist, he bent it back toward its wielder.

The sharp blade sliced across the thug’s throat, cleanly severing his windpipe. The wound was so precise that not a drop of blood spilled, but the thug instantly collapsed, struggling and twitching, his face frozen in terror and pain like a fish dying on land.

Evan picked up a machete and kept moving, slicing through the crowd with single-minded focus. In just one minute, when Evan finally stopped, all fifty-plus thugs lay sprawled on the ground.

Each one had a blade mark on their neck, but not a single drop of blood had leaked out.

They all clutched their throats, writhing in pain, faces pale from lack of air, until finally they died, unwilling to accept their fate.

To the onlookers, it looked as if the fifty-plus thugs had simply fallen asleep.

The middle-aged man standing there couldn’t believe this was how it ended. His face twitched.

Just then, a string of crazed dog barks erupted from outside the door.

In the darkness, someone opened the dog yard. The pack of vicious dogs, starved for a week, burst into the hall, barking madly.

The moment the crazed dogs entered, one pounced on Allen Zeng, who was closest to the door and trying to escape. It tore into him in a frenzy.

"Aaaaah!"

Allen Zeng’s thigh was clamped in the dog’s jaws, blood gushing everywhere. The vicious dog ripped out a huge chunk of flesh and chewed it loudly.

"Mom!"

Owen Ou, Ivy Zhao, and even Lydia Liao, who usually kept up a cool front, were so scared they wet themselves, the stench filling the air.

Thomas Zhao couldn’t even stand, sobbing and calling for his parents as he crawled across the hall, desperate to escape the pack of crazed dogs.

Ivy Zhao twisted her hips to flee, but was instantly tackled by a vicious dog. Its jaws clamped down on her chest.

"Ah!!!"

Ivy Zhao’s scream was piercing, blood splattering across her body, making her look like a ghost.

Rachel Liu, trembling, picked up a dropped machete from the ground, her whole body shaking.

Nina Pei was pale as a sheet, staring at the charging dogs in terror, but she still shielded the trembling Claire Sheng behind her.

One of the vicious dogs spotted Claire Sheng, suddenly leaping toward her.
