Eve of Ascension

"Young Master, I know about the Divine Phoenix Bloodline. I've seen divine beasts with it before—it's considered top-tier among God Realm powerhouses. During the War of the Gods, it appeared, though I don't know if it was wiped out. All I can say is, it's terrifyingly strong."

If your wife really does possess this bloodline, you absolutely must not spread it around. The God Realm’s powerhouses do not want more rivals; some may even plot to eliminate her. You must be extremely careful about this." The Black Qilin secretly transmitted to Evan Chu.

Evan Chu was startled after hearing this. He hadn’t expected that Roxanne’s awakening of the Divine Phoenix Bloodline would bring such danger. Gains always come with risks—this really can’t be publicized, not unless he’s strong enough to protect her himself.

"I've already had the servants prepare a banquet. Lord Chu, this is your first visit to our Phoenix Clan, and now that immortals and immortal beasts coexist peacefully, you deserve much of the credit! Today, we must properly thank Lord Chu!" The Phoenix Clan patriarch said with a smile.

"Patriarch, you’re too polite. I’m also part immortal beast myself—this is just my duty. Since I’ve come to the Phoenix Clan, of course I have to share a few drinks with you and see what your famous wine tastes like." Evan Chu replied with a smile.

"The Phoenix Clan’s wine is really strong—you better not drink too much!" A silvery voice chimed in from outside the main hall, and then a beautiful woman in a fiery red dress walked in.

When Evan Chu saw the woman, he couldn’t help but stand up. "Roxanne, weren’t you in seclusion? How did you suddenly come out?"

"Hehe, since my husband came to the Phoenix Clan, of course I had to come out. I just wanted to surprise you—didn’t expect it, did you?" Roxanne laughed sweetly.

It was none other than Roxanne Lin. Now she was even more radiant than before, and to Evan Chu, she seemed like a different person—once pure as a white lotus, now passionate as a burning rose. It made him want to pull her into his arms, though he wouldn’t actually do it.

"It’s a bit of a surprise. Since you’re out, you’d better join us for a drink tonight. I came here just to see you—aren’t you a little touched?" Evan Chu said with a smile.

“I thought you’d forgotten me, but I’m still a little moved. Let’s go!” Roxanne Lin said, teasingly.

Evan Chu was stunned. Roxanne Lin’s tone was different now—he almost didn’t recognize her, leaving him bewildered.

Roxanne Lin walked over to Yvonne Xuan. The two hadn’t seen each other in ages and immediately started chatting, laughter filling the air and leaving Evan Chu baffled.

Evan Chu and his group spent two days with the Phoenix Clan, touring the famous Parasol Grove and gaining a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature.

After bidding farewell to the Phoenix Clan patriarch, everyone returned to Frostbane Imperial Palace. Roxanne Lin’s cultivation was now at the threshold of ascension, which made Evan Chu very happy—now he just had to wait for Jade Chu and Tom Chu to emerge from the Timewheel Bracelet.

But one thing troubled him: if Jade Chu and Tom Chu came out of the Timewheel Bracelet now, they wouldn’t be able to return until after ascending to the God Realm. Figuring out how to bring the Black Qilin up safely was still a headache.

A hundred years slipped by in a flash. Luna Nangong came to see Evan Chu several times, and though he understood her feelings, he always gently turned her down—he didn’t want to add to his emotional debts.

Jade Chu and Tom Chu still showed no signs of coming out of seclusion, and Evan Chu was starting to get anxious. Yvonne Xuan, Lynn Ling, and the others could barely suppress their realms any longer—at most, they could wait another month before being forced to ascend.

Evan Chu had no choice but to try sending his spiritual sense into the Timewheel Bracelet, but it was completely ineffective, leaving him thoroughly frustrated.

I don’t know if I can absorb the energy from a God Stone. If I can, maybe I’ll be able to get inside. I have to give it a try, Evan Chu thought suddenly.

Evan Chu entered an underground secret chamber alone, picked a room at random and sat down. With a thought, he took out a low-grade God Stone from the Coiling-Dragon Ring—a mid-grade God Stone, pulsing with powerful energy in his hand.

Taking a deep breath, Evan Chu cleared his mind and slowly began absorbing the energy from the God Stone. As divine spirit energy flowed into his body, his Chaos Immortal Force immediately began to reject it.

It was as if his body wanted to keep this foreign power out, refusing to let it settle in his dantian. The situation left Evan Chu frustrated—if he couldn’t absorb it, he really might not be able to enter the Timewheel Bracelet, and time was running out.

No matter how many times he tried, the result was the same: the divine spirit energy could only remain in his meridians, unable to reach his dantian. Though its quality was higher than Chaos Immortal Force, there was so little of it compared to his own power—it was like a drop in the ocean.

What should I do now? Is there really no other way to absorb it? Evan Chu muttered in frustration, opening his eyes.

Unwilling to give up, Evan Chu took off the Timewheel Bracelet and released the divine spirit energy from his meridians, letting it flow toward the bracelet. He did it almost absentmindedly, just to see if the bracelet could absorb it.

As soon as the divine spirit energy touched the Timewheel Bracelet, it was instantly absorbed—like parched earth meeting sweet rain—leaving Evan Chu genuinely surprised.

Evan Chu didn’t know what would happen after the Timewheel Bracelet absorbed the divine spirit energy, but he was sure something inside would change. Maybe Jade Chu and Tom Chu would finally wake up, or maybe his spiritual sense could enter again.

Deciding to go all in, Evan Chu split his focus—absorbing energy from God Stones while channeling it into the Timewheel Bracelet. He didn’t know how long he kept at it or how many stones he used before finally stopping.

He felt mentally exhausted and needed to recover, but decided to try sending his spiritual sense into the Timewheel Bracelet—and this time, he actually succeeded.

Delighted, Evan Chu immediately began searching for Jade Chu and Tom Chu. It didn’t take long to spot them—chatting idly atop a mountain peak.

You two finally came out of seclusion! If I hadn’t managed to get in, who knows when you’d have shown up. We’ve all suppressed our realms for ages waiting for you—otherwise, once we ascend to the God Realm, it’ll be even harder for you to come out." Evan Chu said to them, half exasperated, half relieved.
