General Evan Xiao, You're Here

Thinking about his fate, she really couldn't bring herself to smile.

"Oh, my bad!" Sam Yuan noticed her expression and scratched his head, grinning sheepishly. "Today’s your grandpa’s memorial day. I shouldn’t have brought it up. Sorry, Grace!"

"Don’t worry about it," Grace replied, her eyes twinkling. "Sam, I’m honestly so happy for you!"

Sam Yuan grinned, "Grace, I heard you're going to enter the palace as a consort?"

Grace nodded.

"That means we'll get to see each other often!" Sam said. "The Spirit Alliance works closely with the court, and I deliver medicines to the palace all the time!"

"You’re my bestie! Palace or not, we totally have to hang out all the time!" Grace teased, flashing him a playful smile.

Her rebirth had changed so many things.

She hoped she could change Sam's fate, too.

"Haha, great! You should head back now. They're all watching you," Sam said.

Grace glanced back and saw that Cindy Zhu and Queenie Zhu were indeed staring at them.

She nodded, told him to make himself comfortable, and then sat back down.

"Sis, you’re about to be a palace consort. Maybe you shouldn’t keep hanging out with Sam Yuan!" Cindy Zhu said, putting on her most concerned face. "It’s not a great look."

"So what if I'm entering the palace? Can't I even talk to a friend?" Grace replied coolly.

"You two were born on the same day, month, and year, and people used to say you were destined to be a pair," Cindy Zhu added. "It's not the same as ordinary friends."

"Exactly!" Queenie Zhu chimed in, "You'd better not do anything to embarrass the Zhu family! Otherwise, with so many sisters in our clan, even getting married will be difficult for them!"

As soon as she said that, the sisters kneeling on either side shot her unfriendly looks.

"I just chatted with Sam for a bit. Even Father and the elders didn't say anything. Aren't you all overthinking this?" Grace looked at Cindy Zhu.

"Big Sister, we're only saying this for your own good," Cindy said earnestly. "After all, everyone knows you and Sam are close."

Grace paused, then suddenly smiled at Cindy Zhu, "Oh... it's for my own good, is it? Well, thank you for the reminder, Sister!"

"That's what a sister should do," Cindy Zhu replied with a smile.

"I heard Sam joined the Spirit Alchemist Guild. I wanted to ask him to keep an eye out. If there’s a healer who’s good at treating cold poison, maybe he can invite them to help my mom. I’ve been so worried about her, I haven’t thought about anything else."

Grace flashed a grateful smile. "It’s really thoughtful of you, Sis, to bring this up in front of Grandpa’s spirit."

When it came to putting on an act, Grace was already a master.

After she said that, the sisters' gazes toward Grace immediately became much more respectful.

But when they looked at Cindy Zhu, they all thought her intentions were a bit nasty—bringing up such things in front of Grandfather's spirit.

"You—" Cindy Zhu started to say, but couldn't find a comeback. She was fuming inside.

Still, thinking about what was about to happen today, she felt relieved.

Grace, just you wait!

Today will be the day you fall!

Just as the sisters were chatting, Prime Minister Zhu strode out and greeted warmly, "General Evan Xiao, you're here!"

General Evan Xiao?

Grace's eyes lit up and she looked outside.

It really was Evan Xiao!

He was dressed in a formal black robe, looking handsome and reserved, with a unique charm.

"Oh my! General Evan Xiao is here!" The Chloe Family Matriarch bustled out to greet him, beaming even brighter than when she saw her own grandson.

"Madam!" Evan Xiao greeted her respectfully.
