The Military Wants to Take Over the Base
Taking a deep breath, Ian Song suppressed his inner restlessness and asked again, "Coco Guan, how are you feeling now?"
This time, Ian deliberately raised his voice.
"No... it doesn't hurt anymore!" Coco snapped awake, blushing furiously.
"If you're fine, I'll head out first. The towel's right beside you!"
As he spoke, Ian got up and walked out of the bathroom, even closing the door behind him. But images of that pale, naked body kept flashing through his mind.
About twenty minutes passed.
It was only after twenty minutes that Coco Guan, fully dressed, finally shuffled out of the bathroom. She was still shy, head down, not daring to look at Ian Song. "Brother Ian, thank you for earlier."
"No problem, it was nothing!" Ian waved it off, unconcerned.
............
In the blink of an eye, ten days passed.
Except for the zombies controlled by that Mental-Type Zombie in the grove, all the zombies wandering around campus have already been cleared out by the Combat Corps. Grain from the other eight cafeterias has also been moved to the base, and with more survivors gathered, the base population has officially broken the thousand mark—reaching 1,008 people.
At the same time, Ian started training the male survivors at the base.
From them, he selected one hundred people to consume Evolution Crystals, so the Combat Corps has now expanded to a total of one hundred and fifty members.
Moreover, after Kevin Zhou, Leo Liao, and the others consumed Advanced Evolution Crystals, their strength surpassed 1,000 kilograms. Even when facing third-tier zombies, they could hold their own in a fight.
However, Ian soon discovered that once their strength reached 1,000 kilograms, they hit a limit—no matter how many more Evolution Crystals they took, the gains became extremely marginal.
So Ian started considering whether he should teach them a real cultivation method.
Over the past ten days, Ian also spent time researching the zombies.
He found that after zombies reach the third tier, they start to develop different attributes.
Currently, Ian has identified three main zombie types. The first is the Mental-Type, which is quite rare—so far, he’s only found one. He calls it the J-Type Zombie.
The second is the Power-Type. A third-tier Power-Type Zombie has at least 600 kilograms of strength, while fourth-tier ones are even stronger, reaching at least 1,500 kilograms. Ian named these L-Type Zombies.
The third type is the Speed-Type. These zombies are small and incredibly fast. In one clearing operation, the Combat Corps ran into a third-tier Speed-Type Zombie, which ended up being their costliest fight yet—two members died and five were injured. Fortunately, Ian was able to heal the wounded using his Life-Type Divine Ability.
Ian designated these as S-Type Zombies.
So far, only these three zombie types have appeared. As for their levels, the strongest is still the J-Type Zombie, which has reached tier five.
Ian is convinced that as time passes, zombies will only become stronger. He has no way of predicting what their ultimate evolution might look like.
Right now, the members of the Combat Corps are split into two strength tiers.
The first group—those thirty who joined earliest—all have around 800 kilograms of strength.
The remaining 120 members each have about 500 kilograms of strength.
Although there are still thousands of zombies penned up in the grove, without Ian’s command, that J-Type Zombie wouldn’t dare let them out. In other words, South China University is completely safe.
But Ian’s goal is to build a survivor base with a million people, so he’s already planning to leave campus and search for more survivors.
"Brother Ian, it's time to eat!"
Just as Ian was thinking about when to take action, Coco Guan carried a tray of food into his room.
Ever since the bathroom incident, Ian had announced that Coco Guan would serve as his secretary.
Leo Liao and the others couldn’t help showing their envy.
Only Helen Guo seemed dissatisfied, and she’d muttered more than once that Ian was a total pervert.
Ian took good care of his only secretary. After giving Coco Guan several Evolution Crystals, her strength also rose to about 1,000 kilograms.
After lunch,
Ian told Coco Guan to call Kevin Zhou and the others to his room.
These days, the group had been riding high. In the apocalypse, if you want to live well, you either need strength of your own or you have to stick close to someone powerful.
Leo Liao and the others were all senior members of the Management Council.
Before the apocalypse, they were just regular college students—finding a girlfriend with decent looks was already a win.
But after the apocalypse, they became hot commodities—each found themselves a pretty girlfriend, and even the Combat Corps members were in high demand, quickly coupling up with attractive girls.
Oddly enough, Jason Long didn’t bother looking for a girlfriend—even when pretty girls made the first move, he turned them down. Instead, his martial arts progress was lightning fast; in just ten days, he’d reached late Dark-Strength stage.
Helen Guo also made some progress during this time, but her improvement was limited—she’d only just reached the threshold of Transformation-Strength.
No one objected to Ian’s proposal to expand beyond campus.
Although the base currently has enough grain to last everyone a year, sitting back and eating through reserves isn’t sustainable. Only by expanding outward can they keep gathering more food.
The group immediately began preparing for the expedition.
The next morning, Ian led the Combat Corps and the Management Council out of the campus, heading toward the city center.
The city center was once bustling, but now it’s a wasteland filled with abandoned cars and zombies.
As soon as they entered the city, the group encountered a horde of zombies.
The Combat Corps rushed forward and began clearing the area.
