Bang! With a violent explosion, I felt a powerful force from above shove me backward in an instant.
Landing, I steadied myself immediately and unfurled my wings, flying toward the purple smoke. The Red Mask Agent couldn’t be taken down that easily.
I knew this for certain. I kept my twin swords raised, channeling Deathbane Aura into the purple haze, freezing the air around us.
Accompanied by creaking noises, I sensed someone inside the explosion—Red Mask Agent. Yet something felt off in my mind. At that moment, Mona Ouyang appeared before me.
"Dream Green..."
Mona Ouyang spoke, grabbing my collar with one hand. Instantly, green light radiated around us. As the purple smoke dispersed, a fierce roar echoed.
"Triple... Extreme..."
Suddenly, a fist appeared before us. With a deafening crash, the twisted space around us was punched through, creating a hole. The parking lot seemed to vanish under some immense force—a gaping tunnel straight to the ground. I heard wailing and shouting—human voices.
Above was utter chaos. Smoke rose from Red Mask Agent’s clenched left fist, radiating intense heat. I could clearly see Mona Ouyang half-crouched on the ground, looking exhausted.
"No good. This girl’s body is too frail. She can’t handle even a little power without collapsing."
The green glow around Mona Ouyang and me faded. To my shock, we were beside the giant hole that opened onto the street above. Red Mask Agent’s attack seemed to have missed at the last second.
"What are you really doing?"
That last strike was angled upward. Above, cries and screams erupted as my ghostly veins stretched out.
In an instant, I was stunned. On the road above, a brutal car crash had occurred. But where Red Mask Agent struck, there was nothing—just people screaming and sobbing, clueless about what happened.
"What the hell are you doing?"
I roared, spread my wings, and flew at Red Mask Agent, fury rising inside me.
"So a few people died, Ethan Zhang. Who caused all this?"
I swung my twin swords at Red Mask Agent’s head. Instantly, he raised a finger—clang, clang! My blades were deflected. Then, with a whoosh, Ironmask appeared before me, raising a massive foot to kick my hands.
Clang, clang! My Deathbane swords stabbed into a nearby pillar. Red Mask Agent grabbed my throat with one hand.
"This isn’t my doing, Ethan Zhang. Didn’t I say you wanted to fight me? You chose this. You refused a peaceful solution, so I struck. So, those people..."
Red Mask Agent paused, a wicked smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
"They died—because of you. Because you fought me."
My mind buzzed, then with a crack, I turned to mist. Instantly, Red Mask Agent’s body froze. With a thought, I summoned the Deathbane swords from the pillar, spinning them toward him. In my hand, I gripped a Phoenix Blade. With a roar, wild black flames slashed down on Red Mask Agent.
"Don’t be reckless, Ethan Zhang. My fists can shatter anything—even your will."
I felt a violent surge in the air. The black flames vanished instantly, and the two physical Deathbane swords flying at him were crushed, creaking before bursting into black dust and slowly dissipating.
A cracking sound—my Phoenix Blade split. With a bang, it shattered into black fragments. My chest tightened; I spat out a mouthful of black blood and slammed into the wall, sliding slowly to the ground.
I had no idea what was happening—my consciousness grew fuzzy.
At that moment, purple light gathered in Mona Ouyang’s hand again, as if she was preparing something.
"Stop with those tricks, Mona Ouyang. Our research on you is complete. Your power, everything about you—we’ve mastered it, especially in dreams. Otherwise, you’d be nothing."
I struggled to my feet, pulled out my phone, and stared at the app. Didn’t it say I had a fifty percent chance of winning? What a joke.
"Is that so? Heh." Mona Ouyang sneered, voice dripping with sarcasm. Just then, I noticed Red Mask Agent sensed something wrong and leaped backward, then began punching wildly in all directions.
"You’re already trapped in the dream I wove for you. You underestimated me."
Mona Ouyang said, stepping forward one stride at a time.
"Ethan Zhang, now!"
I shouted, unfurled my wings, and with a piercing sound, flew at Red Mask Agent. Another black Phoenix Blade formed in my grasp, blazing with fierce fire. Shimmering black ice crystals swirled around me.
I sensed the moment had come. Red Mask Agent was still swinging his fists wildly, like a madman. His eyes, swollen with black veins, shrank—his gaze utterly deranged.

I closed in on Red Mask Agent. Just then, I saw him raise his right hand to the back of his head, extending a rootless finger and stabbing it into his skull. Instantly, black, glue-like fluid oozed from his head.
As I advanced, I suddenly felt a punch land on my cheek, sending me flying backward. A hand caught me from behind. Black blood streamed from my nose and eyes.
"What’s happening?"
I stared in shock at Red Mask Agent. He was half-kneeling, blood streaming from his seven orifices, black liquid pouring out as he gasped for air.
"He severed his cerebral cortex central nerve."
My eyes widened at Red Mask Agent. Blood kept flowing from the back of his head, sweat beading on his forehead—he looked to be in extreme pain.
"Once the central cortex is severed, you can't dream—so you can escape."
A chill ran down my spine. This was the Immortality Society—so ruthless, utterly unafraid of death. Then I saw Red Mask Agent stand, stagger, nearly collapse.
"Now, Ethan Zhang!"
Mona Ouyang shouted, transforming into a violet beam and charging at Red Mask Agent. I rushed after her, wings flapping, twin swords aimed straight for his heart. With a slash, I struck—the Immortality Society’s weakness must be the heart.
But clang! My Deathbane sword stabbed into Red Mask Agent’s chest as if into steel.
At that moment, Mona Ouyang appeared behind Red Mask Agent, her right hand raised, holding a violet orb of light.
"Even if you sever your cortex, you’re still you. Forever trapped in nightmares—Nightmare Devour."
Suddenly, a violet vortex spun wildly behind Red Mask Agent.
"Ethan Zhang, move!"
Mona Ouyang shouted. I hurriedly flapped my wings, soaring upward. Red Mask Agent seemed off—his limbs wouldn’t obey, his body slowly fading.
"Adapted."
Just then, Red Mask Agent murmured, then suddenly turned, slowly raising his right fist toward Mona Ouyang, his whole arm pulling back.
"Don’t bother me again, Mona Ouyang. Go back to your dream. Quadruple... Extreme..."
Boom! The air around us churned with restless energy. Walls cracked, the ground split, massive chunks of stone floated and were crushed to powder by invisible force. A powerful pull dragged me toward Red Mask Agent.
Mona Ouyang’s face changed dramatically.
"Dream Hell."
Boom! Red Mask Agent struck.
"Mona Ouyang!"
I shouted as thunderous crashes erupted around us. The ceiling collapsed—I unfurled my wings and flew upward. The building came crashing down, turning into a wasteland of dust. I screamed.
"Shit!"
The rumbling continued as the massive building crashed onto the street. I hovered in the air, staring at the ruins and swirling dust, clenching my fists. I couldn’t sense Mona Ouyang anywhere.
"Mona Ouyang, where are you?"
I kept shouting. The street below and everything nearby had been affected. Only now did I begin to hear screams, heartbreaking cries echoing.
