Crown Princess Consort
"I'm just worried about you and your child, that's all," Colin Grant said. "You just gave birth, then left your dad all alone and came to Dragon City by yourself to fight your battles. How could people not speculate?"
Lily Bai: "..."
"Lily... Can you be honest with me? What's going on between you two?"
Lily Bai said, "Colin, the reason I came to Dragon City instead of Evan is because my combat skills are higher—I can protect myself. As for the rest, you're really overthinking it."
"I hope so," Colin said. "Whatever happens, if you two are really okay, I'll be relieved."
Lily didn't reply.
Colin stayed by her side until the engagement ceremony ended. Then Jean Shaw grabbed Lily and dragged her out to the secluded back garden.
She was surprisingly strong.
"Jean, what's up?" Lily asked.
"Did my brother really go abroad?"
"Yeah!"
"Is Colin Grant interested in you?"
Lily opened her mouth, then said, "Whether he's interested in me or not, I can't say for sure. But one thing I do know: he's connected to the Godslayer Syndicate—and to the Prophet."
Jean's eyes sharpened. "Then why not just arrest him and interrogate him?"
"I've had Sandy monitoring him all along," Lily said. "So far, nothing concrete has turned up."
I suspect that even if he is connected to the Prophet, maybe it's not that deep. If we arrest him, we might just scare him off and lose the lead. It's better to keep following the thread quietly."
Jean nodded.
"Jean, come with me to the film set tomorrow!" Lily said with a grin.
"What film set?"
"I got Eric Lan and Samson Zhang to star in a movie," Lily said. "Let's go to the studio tomorrow and check them out."
"Oh... They already told me," Jean said, smothering a laugh. "They even sent me pictures—both of them in ancient costumes, messy long hair all over the place... Honestly..."
She showed the photos to Lily.
Sure enough, both wore period costumes, their hair trailing down to their backs, pointing at each other and laughing.
It looked like something shot in a madhouse.
"Uh... The hair will be tied up for filming. It'll look way less crazy then," Lily said.
"How are those two supposed to act in a movie? They have zero acting experience. Is this really going to work?"
"I picked the two leads because their personalities and looks are so similar to Eric and Samson. All they have to do is play themselves—no acting required," Lily said.
"Then let's go check it out tomorrow," Jean said, smiling.
"Actually... Eric Lan was dead set against acting, but I told him you especially love the novel's two leads. That's the only reason he agreed," Lily said, giving her a pleading look. "When we get there tomorrow, can you help me keep up the act?"
"So that's why you went out of your way to invite me! I knew something was up!"
"Be good, Jean! Come with your sister-in-law, okay?" Last time Lily had wanted to visit the set, but got sidetracked by the Master Nebula incident. Tomorrow, she wanted Jean to come along and cheer them up.
Jean agreed.
After a while, Lisa appeared out of nowhere.
Lily asked her in a low voice, "Well?"
"Nothing suspicious," Lisa said, frowning. "Just a normal family home."
"Identify all the properties registered under their name and we'll check each one," Lily said.
"Okay."
