Defying the Imperial Decree

1/11/2026

After Consort Jade left, Emperor Aiden Qin summoned a young eunuch and ordered him to fetch the captain of the imperial guards.

Soon, the guard captain Victor Fang arrived to receive his orders.

"Victor Fang greets Your Majesty. May Your Majesty live ten thousand years!"

"Rise."

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

"Victor Fang, I have a task for you. If you succeed, you will be rewarded!" Emperor Aiden Qin said in a low voice.

"Please instruct me, Your Majesty," Victor Fang replied quickly.

A cold light flashed in Emperor Aiden Qin's eyes: "There is a Song Family Clinic in Sunvale. Take your men and bring the doctor there to the palace! You have two hours. Do not disappoint me!"

He had already decided that no matter whether the doctor could cure him or not, he would kill him afterward.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I obey!"

Half an incense stick later, Victor Fang led eight elite guards quietly out of the palace, heading straight for the Song Family Clinic.

It was afternoon, and the clinic was bustling with patients as usual.

At that moment, Victor Fang arrived at the clinic with his eight guards.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound of swords being drawn filled the air as the eight guards instantly took up advantageous positions throughout the clinic.

Victor Fang strode forward, his voice booming with authority: "I am an imperial guard. All idle people, make way!"

There were at least twenty patients inside the clinic. Seeing the guards draw their swords, they were already terrified. When they heard Victor Fang announce his identity, none dared linger—they all fled in panic.

After escaping the clinic, they did not go far but stood at a distance, watching quietly.

Ian Song's gaze slowly swept over the fierce guards, finally settling on Victor Fang. He remarked, "Third-stage Earth-realm—should count as a master, I suppose."

Hearing this, Victor Fang's eyes narrowed in shock. This man could see through his cultivation at a glance, while Victor himself could not discern the doctor's strength at all.

His attitude shifted, becoming more polite: "Doctor Song, I have come under imperial orders to escort you to the palace. I hope you will cooperate."

"Not going!"

Ian Song's crisp reply infuriated the proud guards. One of them charged forward, brandishing his saber: "A mere country doctor dares defy the imperial command? Are you courting death?"

Facing the guard's saber, Ian Song remained calm and warned coldly, "I'll give you three breaths to get out of my clinic, or I'll throw you out myself."

"You're courting death!"

The guard's saber flashed coldly as he slashed at Ian Song's shoulder.

"Roll!"

Ian Song shouted lightly and waved his hand. The guard's body shot out of the clinic like a kite with its string cut, crashing onto the street and lying motionless.

Seeing this, Victor Fang was shocked. That guard was a first-stage Earth-realm expert, yet he was utterly helpless before this doctor.

"Go check on him."

Victor Fang instructed another guard to check on the fallen comrade.

A guard went out to the street and checked the fallen man's condition. Upon seeing it, he shivered in fear—the man was dead.

"Captain, Gao Bufan is dead!"

"What?"

Victor Fang was stunned, then glared at Ian Song and shouted angrily, "You dare kill an imperial guard? How bold! All of you, attack together—take him down!"

"Imperial guards are worth nothing!"

Ian Song sneered, then casually flicked his long sleeve. Instantly, Victor Fang and all eight guards were swept up and hurled out of the clinic, crashing onto the street outside.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

The sound of coughing up blood rang out. Victor Fang clutched his chest and struggled to his feet, utterly terrified. He cast a deep, fearful glance at Ian Song inside the clinic, then led his men—one dead, seven gravely injured—away, staggering.

Meanwhile, Ian Song allowed a faintly playful smile to appear on his lips, thinking to himself, Now, my name will surely spread throughout Sunvale.
