Obstinate and Self-Willed

Quinn Shepherd was shaken to the core, blurting out, "His mother isn't an ancient god? Then what race is she? And who is his father among the ancient gods?"

Ever since arriving in Heavenly Court, Quinn had heard from Qi Nine Peaks and the Cloud family grannies that God-Emperor Jadecrest was the world's first demigod, born of two ancient gods. He hadn't expected there to be hidden truths behind this.

Eastern Emperor Azure Dragon glanced at him. "Why is the Grand Archmage so curious about other people's private affairs?"

Quinn's expression grew odd as he probed, "Eastern Emperor, are you unwilling to say because God-Emperor Jadecrest is... your...?"

Eastern Emperor shook his head. "God-Emperor Jadecrest is not my offspring. If he were, his parentage wouldn't be so mysterious. I am naturally amorous, and have left behind countless children—there's no need to hide it if someone is mine."

He looked a bit troubled, rubbing his forehead. "To be honest, I get so many people coming here to claim kinship that I've lost count. If I refuse, they're clearly dragon-blooded; if I acknowledge them, there are just too many. There was even a Brood-Hen Dragon who came here to recognize me as its father!"

Quinn's eyes widened as he remembered the Brood-Hen Dragons that took over Cripple Village, and tentatively asked, "Then, about the Brood-Hen Dragons...?"

Eastern Emperor looked helpless and shook his head. "That's the Jiao Dragon lineage—nothing to do with me. Maybe there are some of my children among the Jiao Dragons, but Brood-Hen Dragons? Absolutely not!"

He paused, feeling it was inappropriate to keep talking about himself, and said, "God-Emperor Jadecrest's mother is a Creator. As the Grand Archmage, you've been to the Grand Void—you should know the Creators. When you went, I even sent one of my crown princes to accompany you, though sadly he didn't make it back alive."

Quinn exclaimed in surprise, "You actually sent a Dragon Crown Prince with me?"
