Chapter 482: Blazeforge Orc Shaman

The worst part was that this young mage, acting like some kind of lord, had been standing idly by ever since leading them out of the fortress—neither helping nor speaking a word.

This, unsurprisingly, left Ida Merlin and Yuri Merlin simmering with frustration.

Even though this young mage wasn't all that powerful, would it kill him to lend a hand?

"Tell me, Mafa Merlin, what exactly are you trying to do? Will you only be satisfied if we end up dead?" Ida Merlin, ever the hothead, smashed an approaching Ashen Elemental to bits. His face was as dark as thunder, his words spilling out in a flustered, almost desperate rush. He didn't go so far as to jab a finger in Lin Yun's face, but his attitude couldn't have been worse.

"Unbelievable... The family council actually made you the commander of the Planar Legion. It's madness! You know nothing, yet you act like you know everything. Now look, you're hell-bent on getting yourself killed, and you've dragged us down with you. Happy now?"

Ida Merlin's anger had nowhere to go. The way he looked at Lin Yun was already tinged with hatred. If he hadn't been pinned down by all these elemental beasts, unable to break free, he'd probably have gone over and slapped that damned Mafa Merlin right across the face.

This is just plain bullying...

If you want to get yourself killed, fine—but don't use your authority as commander to drag me down with you.

Absolutely infuriating...

At this moment, Idah Merlin was about to lose his mind from rage, his hatred for Leon Merlin running bone-deep. In all his decades in the ancestral lands, he'd fought in thousands of planar wars, big and small, but he'd never seen a commander as reckless and bizarre as Leon Merlin. The guy was a real piece of work.

And yet, Idah Merlin couldn't resist. In planar warfare, the commander's orders trump everything—if Leon told him to throw himself into the fire, he'd have to do it without complaint.

No way around it—he's the commander, I'm just the grunt...

He couldn't defy the orders, but nothing could stop Idah Merlin's resentment. When his spirits hit rock bottom, he even started hating the family council. If they hadn't sent this clueless commander, he wouldn't be in such a mess.

"Archmage Merlin, you need to come up with something—this can't go on. If we keep this up, we'll run out of mana and everyone here will die! If we break out toward the Inferno Fortress, maybe with the Planar Legion's help, we've got a sliver of hope. Also, Archmage Merlin, aren't you a bit too relaxed right now?"

Old Yuri Merlin wasn't as frantic as Idah, but you could tell from his words just how fed up he was with the young mage.

To be honest, if he could help it, he'd rather avoid clashing with the young mage.

After all, the family council had appointed him commander. Even if he wasn't insanely strong or experienced in planar warfare, Leon Merlin was the real deal—a bona fide commander, outranking them all.

When the council first announced it, Yuri Merlin was stunned. He couldn't figure out what they were thinking, putting a young Archmage in charge of the Planar Legion.

It was pure madness...
