Very Arrogant

"Hit me! I’m telling you to hit me—what, you don’t understand human language? Huh?"

Max Xu wore a playful smirk, his whole face leaning right up to Big Tank’s, staring straight at that chubby face.

Scared now, huh? Coward! I call you dead fatso, and you don’t dare hit me, so you’d better just accept it! Don’t act all tough when you’re not.

Max Xu was full of swagger. Seeing Big Tank burning with anger but still not daring to swing at his face, Max felt a rush of satisfaction. Even Chloe Cheng, standing beside him, gave Max an approving look and shot Big Tank a few more glances of contempt.

Big Tank was seething. He turned to look at Evan Lin.

When he heard that girl speak just now, Big Tank knew she probably knew Evan Lin. That’s exactly why he couldn’t figure out what kind of relationship the newcomers had with Evan, so he didn’t dare act rashly.

"That’s the most interesting request I’ve ever heard."

Evan Lin glanced at Max Xu.

Max Xu was just about to say Evan Lin was narrow-minded and short-sighted.

Chloe Cheng looked smug, her eyes gleaming with pride, just about to say something.

Before they could say a word, Evan Lin’s slightly indifferent voice rang out.

"Since that's the case, just give him what he wants. Don't show him any respect."

As soon as Evan finished speaking—

Big Tank immediately gave a savage grin: "I’ve worked my way up all these years just so one day people would call me Boss, not some dead fatso!"

Big Tank reached out and grabbed Max Xu by the neck, lifting him clean off the ground.

"What do you think you’re doing! You dare lay a finger on me? Aren’t you afraid you’ll have to pay so much you’ll be left in your underwear?!" Max Xu shouted in panic.

Max Xu screamed in terror. Compared to Big Tank, his build was nothing; now, with Big Tank’s hand clamped tight around his throat, his face turned red and he flailed his limbs, pounding at Big Tank in a desperate attempt to break free.

No matter how hard he punched or kicked, Big Tank didn’t budge an inch.

"Evan Lin! What are you trying to do? Make him let Max go, now! He's not someone you can afford to mess with!" Chloe Cheng, pale with fright, turned to Evan.

Evan couldn’t be bothered to answer.

Max Xu, who’d been shouting a moment ago, was left groaning after a punch and two slaps.

Weren’t you acting tough just now? That didn’t last long—now you’re shriveling up. Go on, shout for me again, let’s see if I dare hit you or not, huh?

Big Tank dragged Max Xu close, pressing his forehead to Max’s, eyes blazing fiercely. Max trembled all over.

Big talk, no skills. Next time you call me dead fatso, I’ll make you regret it for the rest of your life!

Big Tank hacked up a thick wad of phlegm and spat it right on Max Xu’s face. Chloe Cheng instinctively took several steps back in disgust.

Get lost!

Big Tank barked, tossing Max aside.

Max Xu went flying, tumbling through the air before crashing to the ground, coughing hard and looking utterly miserable.

With Max dealt with, Big Tank glanced sidelong at the pale-faced Chloe Cheng standing nearby, looking at her with utter contempt: 'Where’d this airheaded little girl come from? You really brought out this loser boyfriend and dared to show him off?'

You’re still just a kid—go home and grow up for a few years before coming out again! Don’t keep showing up and getting in the way!

Big Tank kept cursing as he walked off.

A few words from him made Chloe Cheng even more anxious.

She looked at Evan Lin, whose expression stayed flat the whole time—he barely glanced at her, never taking her seriously.

His attitude left Chloe feeling both humiliated and angry.

She felt utterly humiliated.

Let’s go.

Evan Lin spoke up and started walking away.

Big Tank instantly switched to a smiling face, trailing after Evan with eager devotion, spitting as he talked.

It was as if he hadn’t cared about what just happened at all.

Who are those people, anyway?!

Max Xu lay on the ground, face dark with anger, coughing a few times.

Chloe Cheng hurried over and helped him up.

Max’s face was smeared with phlegm. Chloe felt sick just looking at it, but considering Max’s status, she took out a tissue and pretended to be patient as she wiped his face clean.

That guy’s name is Evan Lin. He was in junior high at Whitewood No. 2, but he started chasing me—I never agreed, but he kept pestering me until it got the school involved.

Our school doesn’t allow puppy love, so he was forced to withdraw. His mom begged the teachers to let him off, so he transferred away.

Chloe kept talking as she wiped Max’s face.

After he transferred, my parents worried it had affected him badly. Not long ago, we ran into his mom and apologized to her in public!

I never imagined he’d come back like this, acting so disgusting!

If I’d known he was this kind of person, I never would have talked to him again!

Chloe finished, then glanced apologetically at the battered Max Xu: 'Sorry about this, I didn’t mean to drag you into it.'

It’s fine, Chloe! I never knew you were so kind!' Max Xu growled, glaring after Evan Lin and Big Tank: 'That kid is so ungrateful—I hate people like that most!'

And that dead fatso with him! Just looking at him pisses me off—he actually dared to hit me!

Max Xu, burning with rage at what just happened, snapped: Let’s go! I’m finding my parents right now!

There’s a tumor like that fat guy in Whitewood County, and he’s even investing here! I’ll have my parents talk to Magistrate Ma and back me up! Damn it!
