Bloodheart Jade Pendant

Noah Duanmu saw that Maxwell Jing neither spat out his tea nor objected, and couldn't help asking, "Are you discriminating against me?"

Jing Mohen was at a loss for words with him. Gu Yihan said calmly, "The wound on his arm needs to be rebandaged."

Noah Duanmu was someone who couldn't sit still. He wanted to say more, but was stopped by Liam Duanmu, leaving him frustrated as he hugged his teacup and drank in silence.

The waiter on the side could only shake his head. Why did these grown men fuss so much about sleeping arrangements? Even young ladies weren't this particular!

But this young lady was truly beautiful!

Just as he was thinking this, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Looking around, he saw nothing, and couldn't help but wonder if he'd really seen a ghost in broad daylight!

Morgan Shangguan smiled and squeezed Damien Gray's hand. Damien Gray snorted, "Princess Consort really should wear a mask in public!" But then he thought of Master Yun, who was just as eye-catching, and frowned. At least Master Yun's identity was male—if he attracted attention, it would be from women, which was better than attracting men!

Leaning on his shoulder, Morgan Shangguan watched his ever-changing expression and couldn't help but laugh softly, "Damien, you’re like this—there’s no mystery left at all!"

Maxwell Jing wholeheartedly agreed. Wasn't it true? His Excellency the Ghostmaster ought to be inscrutable, able to terrify with a single cold glance! How had the Princess Consort managed to change him so much?

After filling their stomachs, the group retired to their rooms to rest.

Damien Gray finally found a chance to ask Morgan Shangguan some questions. "Morgan, what was that power?" Normally, no one could move Morgan so easily—how had she been struck down the cliff so effortlessly? And that force was so strange: neither inner energy nor spirit power, but cold and wicked. What kind of person would wield such a power?

Morgan Shangguan shook her head and replied in a low voice, "I don't know. For now, it seems that people with special abilities are not limited to the Simon Family."

Actually, she wasn't too surprised. There couldn't be only one or two types of power in this world—some were simply unknown. In her previous world, those with supernatural abilities weren't limited to the Shangguan clan, which was why Shangguan Ling searched everywhere for people with such gifts, recruiting them into the family and establishing that training base. There, cruel training constantly pushed people to their limits, making them endure pain and brush with death, all to unlock their potential and strengthen the Shangguan clan, so no other family could surpass them.

"This time, the assassin was targeting me!" She couldn't figure out who wanted her dead—either they discovered her uniqueness, or they were determined to kill her at any cost.

Suddenly, she recalled why Shangguan Xuan hated her. When she was a child, someone had tried to poison her—was it someone Shangguan Meng had offended, or someone else entirely?

Could it be that the person this time was also targeting the original Shangguan Mo, not her?

If these two incidents were connected, then who would be so ruthless as to target even a child, never giving up after all these years?

If they're unrelated, then who is so intent on seeing her dead?

Whether it was someone with this power wanting her dead, or someone hiring such a person, it meant her enemy was no ordinary character—and their motives were likely just as complicated.

Morgan Shangguan frowned, unable to make sense of it all. Damien Gray gently smoothed her furrowed brows and whispered, "If you can't figure it out, then don't think about it. I'll always be by your side!" No matter what they faced, as long as they were together, nothing was too difficult to bear.

Hearing this, Morgan Shangguan felt her heart relax. Suddenly, she pushed Damien Gray onto the bed, leaned over him, their foreheads touching, and laughed softly, "Your Highness is getting more and more cunning!" He always managed to touch her softest feelings so easily.

Damien Gray raised his brows innocently, then wrapped his hand around the back of her head and pressed her down a little. Their lips met—Morgan Shangguan sighed in contentment, parted her lips, and their tongues entwined in a passionate kiss. Damien Gray rolled over, holding her, his hand reaching for her waist to untie her sash.

Morgan Shangguan gently pushed him away, catching her breath. "Aren't you tired, Your Highness?" she asked.

Damien Gray gently bit her chin and murmured, "The more tired I am, the better I’ll sleep!"

Morgan Shangguan chuckled, then suddenly remembered those few lines of prophecy. She asked, "Did you notice the skeleton in the cabin beneath the cliff, Your Highness?"

Damien Gray parted her robe, his hands roaming her body, distractedly asking, "Is there something wrong with it?"

Morgan Shangguan wrapped her arms around him, a thoughtful look in her eyes. "That person must have had special abilities too. He left behind a few prophecies..."

Damien Gray listened as she recited the prophecies, then frowned before smirking with cold, wild arrogance. "Even if fate is real, it will be because I choose it!" He kissed her lips again, then added, "So you needn’t worry about that demon. Besides, whoever he was, he couldn’t predict the future either, could he? 'Where does the soul go, where does the world lead?'—he didn’t know himself!"

Morgan Shangguan sighed. He was right!

It was only because the prophecy mentioned Damien Gray that she cared so much. But the prophet hadn’t given any real answers, which meant their fate was still in their own hands. Just as Damien Gray said—even if destiny came true, it would only be because they themselves made those choices.

So-called unchangeable fate is only unchangeable because people don’t want to change it!

That’s why she never used her abilities to predict the future. To her, it was utterly meaningless!

Still, while stories of the Simon Family were well known in the martial world, she’d never heard of anyone else with such strange powers. It seemed the Simon Family were the only ones who flaunted their abilities.

But no matter how famous the Simon Family was, after Grand Astrologer Simon's death their reputation faded. When Grand Astrologer Simon was branded a traitor to the throne, the family’s good name was utterly destroyed.
