The sun rises in the east.
Hotel.
Evan Lin barely slept all night, standing by the window and thinking about many things.
On one hand, there were his own affairs—besides giving Joy Zheng a safe and happy life, he also had to search for Lily Zhao.
Lily Zhao had been missing for a long, long time—so long that whenever Evan thought back to everything that happened back then, it all felt like a dream.
The only clue left now was those recurring images of women from the past.
On the other hand, there was cultivation.
Now that he was at mid Foundation Establishment, this level of cultivation really wasn’t worth mentioning.
Right now, the only sources of spiritual qi available—aside from the Grand Dao Foundation Art’s daily cycle, which provided a trickle—were the Nourishing Spirit Pills.
Earlier, Evan had called Warren Wu.
Over at the Miracle Hand Sect, the number of Nourishing Spirit Pills was still increasing.
But to actually gather enough Nourishing Spirit Pills for Evan to break through to late Foundation Establishment, it would probably take quite a while yet.
There’s no point in rushing this kind of thing.
Luckily, everything was proceeding step by step.
Around six-thirty in the morning.
Someone knocked on the door.
Evan opened the door and saw Selina Wu standing outside.
Selina Wu was still wearing yesterday’s clothes. She’d washed her face, and even without makeup, her features carried a hint of boldness.
After a night’s rest, Selina seemed much calmer emotionally.
“Did you just wake up, or did you not sleep at all?”
Selina Wu asked, sizing up Evan. The more she looked, the more she felt something she couldn’t quite name.
Maybe it was because of what Martin Wu said last night—her mindset had shifted a bit, and even the way she looked at Evan had changed.
“Didn’t sleep. Not really tired.”
Evan stepped aside and went to the bathroom to wash his face.
Selina didn’t act shy or reserved—she walked straight into the room and glanced around.
When she reached the desk, she saw the draft papers Evan had used for the math modeling competition. Every sheet was covered in neat, dense formulas.
She glanced over them, getting a little lost in thought.
Selina didn’t really understand the advanced math models, but she thought the numbers looked nice. When Evan finished washing and came out, Selina asked if she could take one. Evan nodded, so she picked the sheet that looked the most pleasing to her.
“Where’s Martin Wu? Still asleep?”
“No, he got called back by phone early this morning.”
Selina shook her head.
The Tiger Special Forces clashed with Nightstar.
And that wasn’t all—General Ethan Xu’s granddaughter, Lena Xu, was involved too.
Martin Wu, as a Tiger Special Forces soldier, had been called back—it made sense. As for how things would develop, nobody could predict; all they could do was wait.
“Let’s get some breakfast first. After we eat, I’ll call Allen Ju and check on things.”
“If anything happens, just tell me. Don’t try to carry it alone. No matter what it is, big or small, it’s nothing to me.”
Selina rolled her eyes at Evan and didn’t reply.
Nightstar’s problem was obviously no small matter. Selina assumed Evan was just trying to comfort them, worried that Allen Ju and the others might get dragged into trouble.
Leaving the room, Evan went to knock on Autumn Zheng’s door.
Autumn Zheng had already washed up. She was just about to call Evan, but when she opened the door and saw Selina Wu standing there, she paused in surprise.
