Raising a Serpent Ancestor

12/19/2025

Grace chased after him and demanded, "What exactly do you want? Why did you sneak into my space again?"

He didn’t answer.

"Does that mean you want to come back with me?"

He glanced at her.

Grace laughed, scooped him up, and said, "That’s more like it! When we get back, I’ll personally make you something delicious, okay?"

Evan Xiao nodded.

Forget it. Since she was willing to let him eat the Vermilion Order, it proved that in her heart, even Emperor Tuoba Hong couldn’t compare to an Antler Serpent.

He couldn’t compete at all...

Hmph...

Sure enough, when they got back, Grace personally made him a meal.

She made three heaping plates of his favorite dishes.

Then Grace set him on the table and let him eat.

But the Antler Serpent just sat there with its mouth open, not moving, and kept glancing at her.

"What? You want me to feed you too?"

The Antler Serpent nodded.

He was a patient, after all.

He deserved to be taken care of by his woman.

"You’re basically raising a snake ancestor!" Claire chimed in from the side. "Ancestor, stop pestering the young miss. I’ll feed you instead!"

The Antler Serpent shook its head and just stared at Grace with those big, beautiful black-and-white eyes.

Grace couldn’t help but laugh. She picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a slice of meat, and fed it to him.

His appetite hadn’t suffered at all—he polished off all three plates...

...

Maybe it was because he was injured, but the Antler Serpent was even clingier to Grace than before.

He stuck to her like glue all day long.

At night, he’d burrow into her bed.

He wanted to be fed at meals, and even when he drank water—such a spoiled little thing.

Still, he was clearly sleeping a lot more than before. Whenever he dozed off, Grace would tuck him into her own space.

The spiritual energy in her space was richer than outside, which helped him recover.

...

Even though Grace had warned her eldest brother Kevin Zhuo about the plot, he still got caught up in it.

Jason Zhuo had an adjutant under him named Leo Miles.

This guy stole military supplies and tried to sell them, but got caught red-handed.

And then Leo Miles confessed that all those supplies came from Jason Zhuo, and that most of the dirty money from the sales was handed over to Jason.

As a Fourth-Rank Spirit Cavalry Commander, Jason Zhuo was in charge of ten Spirit Cavalry Captains and over a thousand Spirit Cavalry soldiers.

Each Spirit Cavalry Commander led a regiment known as a Spirit Cavalry Regiment.

Every Spirit Cavalry Regiment had its own supply warehouse, and the keys were held by the Commander.

In other words, without Jason Zhuo’s key, Leo Miles couldn’t possibly have stolen those supplies to sell.

Suddenly, Jason Zhuo found himself unable to defend his innocence.

According to military regulations, if something like this happened, he’d be stripped of his rank and banned from service forever.

The Zhu family was never short on money anyway.

Minister Zhuo, of course, didn’t believe Jason Zhuo would ever do such a thing.

He personally went to the military to try to clear Jason’s name.

But with the key in Jason’s hand and the supplies clearly from the warehouse, even Minister Zhuo needed evidence to make his case.

In the end, after Minister Zhuo argued his case, he managed to win Jason three days of grace.

Three days—if they couldn’t produce solid evidence, Jason would be dealt with according to military rules.

When Grace heard about it, her first thought was: This has got Kevin Zhuo’s fingerprints all over it!

He and Grace Wan were working together, and with Jason’s birthday coming up the next day, they made sure his career was on the verge of collapse...

That night, Jason Zhuo returned home.

Grace went to see him and asked what happened.

He said that ever since he joined the military, he’d gotten into a feud with Leo Miles.

He never imagined Leo would use such an extreme, mutually-destructive scheme to get back at him.

"What did you do to make him hate you?" Grace asked.

"He... had a friend who broke military rules. I reported it, and his friend was executed," Jason said.

"So he’s taking revenge for his friend?"

"Yeah."
