Watch My Hand Signal

Evan Xiao didn't answer and strode away.

Grace seized the chance and ran after them.

Ruby and Sean Sun could only watch, not daring to say a word.

Back at the Frostmoon Quarters, Grace assigned Lily and Anna to stand guard outside Evan Xiao's room, then slipped back into her own.

Once inside the Dimensional Bracelet, she held a Wrist Arrow in one hand and the Dimensional Bracelet in the other, pondering which one to modify.

The Wrist Arrow only fired a single shot, but it packed a punch—and left a nasty wound.

The Rainflower Bracelet could unleash a flurry of fine needles at the press of a switch. Without poison, though, it just left tiny pinpricks—barely dangerous at all.

So... Rainflower Bracelet it is!

She emptied all the poisoned needles from the Rainflower Bracelet, wrapped one in a handkerchief, and headed out of the manor.

On the street outside the General’s Manor, a candied haw seller was waiting—his name was Tenner.

He was the bodyguard Grace had stationed there for backup.

Just like the General's Manor, the Prime Minister's Residence had its own bodyguards.

Tenner and Edward Wang were assigned to protect her; both were second-rank Spirit Practitioners.

She pretended to buy a candied haw, slipped him the needle-wrapped handkerchief, and quietly instructed him to get a thousand needles of the same size.

Tenner sneakily replied, "No problem. Come back tomorrow morning to pick them up."

"Also, someone might cause trouble at the house at the foot of the mountain in the next couple of days—a second-rank Spirit Practitioner. Tell Nanny and the others to stay inside Moonwater Abbey, and have Edward Wang keep watch."

"Got it!" Tenner nodded.

......

Ruby and Sean Sun’s threats were interrupted by Evan Xiao’s arrival.

Grace figured Ruby wanted to be Head Maid and Sean Sun wanted a beauty. Like cats scenting fish, they definitely wouldn’t give up so easily.

She hoped for a private encounter with Ruby’s brother.

Cecilia Chen was desperate for her face to heal instantly. Grace worried she’d gobble up all the blemish antidote at once, so she only gave her a daily dose, delivering the next day’s medicine each afternoon.

Ruby knew about this arrangement too.

That afternoon, Grace went to deliver medicine to Cecilia Chen and brought Anna along.

On the way back, she spotted Sean Sun pretending to patrol in the distance.

"Anna," Grace called, "I need a favor."

"What kind of favor?"

"See that guard over there?"

"I see him. Hey, isn’t that Ruby’s brother?"

"Exactly. Now, here’s what I need: you go hide somewhere, and if he stops me to talk, just watch my hand signals—like this..."

After a flurry of instructions, Anna slipped away as planned.

Grace waited until Anna was hidden, then hurried toward the Frostmoon Quarters alone.

Just as she expected, Sean Sun blocked her path and asked in a low voice, "Did you tell the General?"

"Not yet," Grace replied.

"Are you tired of living?" Sean Sun threatened.

Grace looked at him, suddenly flashing a sweet smile. "Brother Sean, you’re so tall and handsome. Why always talk about life and death? It’s such a mood killer!"

Sean Sun was so dazzled by her smile, he felt weak all over, like he'd lost two out of three souls. He grinned wickedly, "So what do you want, then?"

"I have a condition," Grace said. "If you agree, I'll talk to the General—and do as you wish."

Sean Sun's eyes lit up, delighted. "What's the condition?"

Grace made a hand signal behind her back, just about to speak when Anna suddenly appeared, shouting, "Little Fish, the General wants you! Hurry!"
