Sean Kerr Is Really Sick

1/4/2026

Ma Yingying stood at a distance, secretly watching Charles Yin.

Every time this man changed clothes, he somehow managed to look even more handsome than before.

No matter what he wore, he could pull it off effortlessly.

Just standing there, without even trying to pose, he oozed style.

Especially when he looked at Cecilia Gu—his gaze was so gentle, it could drown a person.

Ma Yingying was honestly dying of envy toward Cecilia.

Charles only ever showed that kind of look when he was gazing at Cecilia.

If... if she could just take Cecilia’s place, even if it was only for one night with Charles—she’d be satisfied.

But Ma Yingying knew that was impossible.

Because Charles would never even spare her a glance.

Let alone Cecilia willingly giving up her man...

Charles and Cecilia were going to meet Madam Yin, so Siyan Yin didn’t go in with them. Instead, he turned around and told Ma Yingying what Cecilia wanted.

When Ma Yingying heard Cecilia had turned her down, she couldn’t help looking disappointed.

Siyan Yin asked curiously, "Why do you insist on being Cecilia’s assistant? All her assistants are carefully chosen by Charles, trained for ages. You don’t know anything—of course she wouldn’t use you."

Ma Yingying glanced away, not daring to admit to Siyan that the only reason she wanted to be Cecilia’s assistant was to see Charles more often.

Ever since that fleeting glance the other day, Charles’s image had been burned into her heart, impossible to forget.

She didn’t expect Charles to notice her—just being close to him was enough.

But of course, Ma Yingying couldn’t tell Siyan that. Instead, she mumbled, "It’s only fair to repay a kindness. They helped you, and me too, so I just wanted to thank her up close."

Siyan always felt that Ma Yingying was acting weird, but he couldn’t put his finger on why.

Maybe he was just overthinking it.

His sister has always been such a pure soul.

Charles Yin brought Cecilia Gu to see Mrs. Yin. Mrs. Yin held Cecilia's hand and said, "Now that you're home, you should hurry up and have another baby. While this old lady can still move, I'd love to see another great-grandchild."

Cecilia felt super embarrassed.

She remembered clearly, during her surgery, they told her it would be really hard for her to get pregnant again.

Maybe Miles will be her only child in this life.

But since the elders have this wish, she should at least try, right?

Cecilia had totally forgotten that she and Charles hadn't officially remarried yet...

Dinner was full of laughter and warmth.

Miles and Mia circled around Mrs. Yin, calling her 'Great-Grandma' again and again, making her absolutely beam with joy.

If Cecilia hadn't stopped her, Mrs. Yin would have showered those two kids with a mountain of gifts.

After dinner, Cecilia and Charles took the kids back to their own home.

As soon as they walked in, Aunt Zhang greeted them with a big smile: "Young Master is home! Young Madam is home! The two little young masters are home!"

"Aunt Zhang, you've worked so hard these past few days," Cecilia said with a smile, handing her a bag. "I bought this pearl necklace from the South Pacific. The color suits you perfectly. Hope you don't mind it's a small gift."

Aunt Zhang's face was practically glowing with happiness: "Madam, you shouldn't have! You even brought me something from your trip."

"It's only right," Cecilia replied with a smile. "Anything major happen at home while we were gone?"

Aunt Zhang thought for a moment and said, "Nothing big, just a girl named Yingying Ma came by several times asking to be your assistant. I told her I can't make that decision, it needs Young Master's and your approval."

Cecilia nodded, "Yeah, I already know about that."

Assistant Xiao Wang was following behind, and when she heard Aunt Zhang say that, she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed.

She's always been Madam's personal assistant—no one else has ever been able to replace her.

This Yingying Ma really doesn't know her place, thinking she can take her spot!

Does she really think being an assistant is just carrying bags and running errands?

Give me a break, seriously?

To be a good assistant for Madam, she's always studying and improving herself, just to make sure everything in Madam's life and work goes smoothly—never letting Madam look bad.

Seriously, can Yingying Ma even tell the difference between all those luxury outfits in Madam's closet?

Every single watch has its own matching outfit, okay?

Luckily, Madam wasn't fooled at all—she totally trusts her!

No way she's letting just anyone take her place in Madam's heart!

So Assistant Xiao Wang started working even harder.

Cecilia couldn't help but ask Charles, "What's up with Xiao Wang? She's brought in coffee three times already."

Charles looked up from his desk at Xiao Wang leaving quietly, smiled, and said, "She's feeling threatened, worried you'll want another assistant, so she's trying to prove she's the only one you need."

Cecilia immediately remembered the whole Yingying Ma situation and burst out laughing.

Suddenly, her assistant seemed so cute.

Just then, Xiao Wang came in again, holding Cecilia's phone: "Madam, it's a call from Vice President Muir."

Rona Muir?

Cecilia reached out to take the phone. "Hello? What's wrong?"

On the other end, Rona Muir started pouring out her troubles: "Cecilia, what am I supposed to do!"

"What happened?" Cecilia thought for a moment. "Wait, are you at the hospital right now?"

"Yep, I'm at your family's hospital! Sean Kerr is really sick!" Rona sighed. "And it's bad. The doctor said his stomach's ulcerated from his messed-up eating habits. They're treating him now."

Wow, so he really is sick?

"And guess what? The Kerrs came begging me, saying only I can convince Sean to stay in the hospital. I honestly want nothing to do with him anymore!" Rona complained. "Jiro Hirayama even argued with me about it. He almost put poison in Sean's meds."

Cecilia:

"You know, if I keep getting involved with Sean Kerr, Jiro Hirayama might actually do it. He's a biochemical expert!" Rona sighed. "Cecilia, what should I do? When I wanted to be with Sean, his family was so against it, even tried to pay me off to leave him. Now that they're finally getting their way, Sean and I are done, but they're begging me to help him... Cecilia, what kind of mess is this?"

Yeah, this is definitely a mess.

Cecilia sighed softly, "So what are you going to do?"

"I don't know. I can't just watch Sean Kerr refuse treatment, right? After all those years together, even if we're not lovers, I don't want to be his enemy." Rona sighed. "Cecilia, come keep me company. Otherwise Jiro Hirayama will get mad again."

Cecilia noticed that ever since coming back from the sea, Rona seemed to really care about Jiro Hirayama's opinion.

She never used to be like this.

Could it be that she's actually catching feelings for Jiro Hirayama?

Cecilia glanced at Charles, who nodded gently.

Only then did Cecilia say to Rona, "Alright, I'll head over now."

After hanging up, Cecilia gave Charles a wry smile, "Could you talk to the Kerrs? Since Sean and Rona are over, they shouldn't bother her anymore. Rona doesn't owe them anything."

Charles nodded, "Got it."

After a quick word, Cecilia drove straight to the hospital.

As soon as she arrived, the director and specialists were waiting at the entrance.

Cecilia asked about Sean Kerr's condition in detail, and was told it was a stomach ulcer from heavy drinking lately.

Cecilia couldn't help but sigh.

Sean Kerr really does care about Rona Muir.

Ever since Rona started college, Sean's been trying to turn her into the perfect wife.

But Sean just can't express his feelings, and he's honestly kind of clueless.

He's great in so many ways, but those two things would drive anyone crazy.

Back in the day, he kept going after me just to help Sylvia Ran.

He never cared about right or wrong, just did whatever he thought was best.

Now his stubbornness has totally destroyed his trust and relationship with Rona.

No amount of drinking can change what's already happened.

In other words, he realized it way too late.

Rona waited ten years for him—she can't wait anymore.

When Cecilia got to the hospital, she saw Rona anxiously hurrying over.

Before Cecilia could say anything, Rona blurted out, "Cecilia, go talk to Sean Kerr! Jiro Hirayama stormed off again, I need to find him. He's got this whole anti-social, mad scientist vibe, what if he gets mad and does something crazy? I'm going after him, you go inside!"

Cecilia watched Rona rush out like a whirlwind, her urgency totally real.

Cecilia knew then—Rona really does care about Jiro Hirayama.

Otherwise, she wouldn't get so nervous just because Jiro Hirayama got upset.

She just hasn't realized it yet.

Cecilia shook her head and headed for Sean Kerr's hospital room.

From a distance, Rona spotted Jiro Hirayama storming off. She rushed over, nearly tripping in her heels, totally out of breath.

Jeez, what's the rush?

Doesn't he see she's wearing heels?

Jiro Hirayama glared at Rona, "If you care so much about him, just go back to him."

"Who says I care about him?" Rona rolled her eyes. "I'm just trying to help because we go way back!"

"He's not a kid—why does he need your help?" Jiro didn't buy it.

Rona gave a bitter smile, "What do I have to do for you to believe me?"
