Aftermath and Resolution

1/4/2026

"My mom has worked for the Yin Family her whole life—this is her home. If she leaves the Yin Family, no matter where she goes, she won't have a home anymore." Cherry Miller continued, "I can't let my mom lose her home. Wherever Madam is, that's where my mom feels at home. Madam, please don't be upset over me and my mom. If you are, we'll only feel even more guilty."

Cecilia Gu looked at Cherry Miller comfortingly.

Cherry Miller turned to the three Yin Family Elders and said, "What you care about is simply that I, Cherry Miller, haven't yet brought any major benefits to the Yin Family, so you're unwilling to accept that the next mistress of the Yin Family might be a woman without support from her own family. I understand that."

Cherry Miller's words inevitably left the three elders looking a bit embarrassed.

This was indeed what the three Yin Family Elders were truly thinking.

But Cherry Miller's words were so blunt that they left the Yin Family Elders embarrassed and unable to save face.

Actually, all these so-called rules are only for those who care about them.

Just like the two questions Charles Yin raised: centuries ago, even under strict feudal rules, the Yin Family accepted divorced royal consorts and women who had worked in brothels. What does that say?

Rules are dead, but people are alive.

What does the Yin Family really want?

Money, power, status.

Back when Cecilia Gu married Charles Yin, both Charles and Grandma Yin had to endure immense pressure from the entire Yin Family.

Later, when Cecilia Gu's identity was confirmed—she was from the Yun Family in Y Province—the elders of the Yin Family naturally had nothing more to say.

The Yun Family's foundation is no weaker than the Yin Family's—in fact, their reputation far surpasses the Yin Family.

A family with thousands of years of history can't be compared to small, ordinary households.

So, after Cecilia Gu regained her memory, she married in easily—no one dared stop her.

But what about Cherry Miller?

Other than her mother, she had nothing left.

And her mother was Cecilia Gu's head housekeeper—so basically, she had no family backing at all.

That’s why some of the Yin Family Elders were dissatisfied, thinking Cherry Miller had no strong family support, and wanted Ethan Yin to marry someone with a powerful background.

But they didn’t dare say it out loud—and they didn’t have the right to, anyway.

After all, if Charles Yin and Cecilia Gu didn’t mind, what right did they have to judge?

But the scandal with Mrs. Miller gave them the perfect excuse—they wanted to use this chance to drive out Cherry Miller and Mrs. Miller, and push their own candidate onto Ethan Yin.

Cherry Miller saw right through their plan.

At first, Cherry Miller didn’t want to say anything—she wanted to save them some dignity.

But when they tried to pressure Cecilia Gu and Ethan Yin, forcing them to bow their heads, Cherry Miller couldn’t accept it.

She could put up with being wronged, but Madam couldn’t, Ethan Yin couldn’t, and her mom definitely couldn’t!

She wouldn’t accept it!

Cherry Miller smiled, wiped away her tears, and said, "I won’t separate from Ethan Yin so easily. I was foolish before—always worrying about my mom’s scandal dragging down Ethan and Madam. But later, I realized that whether I left or stayed, it would still affect them. So why should I back down? Why should I break up? Why should I make way for someone else? This is my home—the place where I grew up! Why should I let others push me around? I won’t! I refuse! I, Cherry Miller, have never failed to do what I set my mind to!"

"Who dares say that Cherry Miller will stop here? I’m still young—I have so much left to accomplish. Who dares claim my contributions to the Yin Family will be less than that divorced princess, or that brave woman who risked her life to deliver a message? You’re just worried I’ll drag Ethan Yin and the Yin Family down, aren’t you?" Cherry Miller lifted her chin, her expression firm and voice resolute. "Fine, just watch—I won’t give up! When the time comes, I’ll prove every word I said today! If that day comes and you three elders still want me to leave the Yin Family, I’ll go without complaint!"

"Cherry!" Cecilia Gu couldn’t help but speak up. "Why go to such lengths?"

"Madam, please give me this chance to prove myself." Cherry Miller lifted her head. "I may not have a powerful family behind me, but I’ll prove that I am my own support—and my mom’s support!"

Mrs. Miller turned her face away, not wanting anyone to see her tears.

But deep down, she was truly moved.

Her daughter was fighting with everything she had to prove her worth—all to protect her mother’s dignity.

With a daughter like this, her life was worth it!

"Three elders, now that everything’s been said—what’s your decision?" Cecilia Gu asked.

Mrs. Florence sighed and said, "Fine, fine. Since you’re all set on protecting this girl, if I say anything more, I’ll just look heartless."

Old Master Yin looked Cherry Miller up and down and nodded, "Since you’ve said all this, then I’ll give you this chance."

The uncle chuckled and said, "You’re a gutsy girl. Let’s do as you say. But before you prove yourself, you and Ethan Yin..."

"Don’t worry, elders. Until I’m officially recognized by the Yin Family, I won’t marry Ethan Yin, nor will I get pregnant and make things difficult for you." Cherry Miller declared, "But as Ethan Yin’s girlfriend, I absolutely deserve that title!"

Ethan Yin wanted to speak up for Cherry Miller, but she shook her head at him.

Ethan Yin understood.

This was Cherry Miller’s dignity.

She was defending her dignity.

He could only support her—there was nothing else he could do.

"Alright, it’s settled then." Cecilia Gu raised her teacup and said briskly, "It’s getting late—I won’t keep you three any longer."

The three elders awkwardly got up and said their goodbyes.

Everything that happened tonight—Cecilia Gu was truly angry. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have sent her guests off so directly.

To bully Cherry Miller was the same as bullying her.

Cecilia Gu hadn’t been treated like this in all her years!

If Charles Yin were here, he’d have kicked those three elders out long ago.

After the elders left, Cecilia Gu said, "Cherry, the days ahead won’t be easy for you."

"It’s not hard—I’m willing." Cherry Miller lowered her eyes and said, "It’s just that my mom might not be able to serve as your head housekeeper for now."

Mrs. Miller spoke up too: "Yes, Madam. Even if the elders have let me and Cherry off for now, what’s happened will still affect the Yin Family’s reputation. It’s better if I leave for a while."

"No rush," Ethan Yin stopped Mrs. Miller and said, "I’ve already arranged for public relations to handle things. The online sentiment will soon turn around. After all, you’re the victims—why should you bear the burden of public opinion?"

"Thank you," Mrs. Miller said, "But it’s still better if I lay low for a while."

"Alright," Cecilia Gu nodded, "Go manage the overseas estate for a while. Once the public opinion here settles down, you can come back."

"Yes, thank you, Madam." Mrs. Miller finally felt at ease.

She was finally relieved.

That night at midnight, a post suddenly appeared online.

"A story of female empowerment—the backstory of Yin Enterprises' head housekeeper."

The post described Mrs. Miller’s difficult past—abused by her ex-husband, gambled away and humiliated, her legs broken and sold off, struggling for life until she sent a plea to Cecilia Gu. Later, the Yin Family brought her back to China, invested heavily in her training, and helped her succeed.

The story’s title was so intriguing that it quickly attracted tens of thousands of readers.

After reading the whole post, everyone was deeply moved.

“So that’s how it is! Just watching that video was uncomfortable, but after reading this, I feel sorry for Mrs. Miller and Cherry Miller! Their lives have been so tragic! But they’re truly inspiring—life dealt them a terrible hand, but these two women played it into a winning one.”

“Oh my god! My idol had such a painful past! What kind of father was that? That’s not a father, that’s a monster! Thank goodness for Mrs. Yin, who reached out and saved them from disaster.”

“I have to admit, Cherry Miller really deserves to be called a goddess. With such a huge scandal online, she didn’t complain or start fights with netizens. But the more she stayed silent, the more I felt for her.”

“Cherry Miller’s life is so tragic! She’s only involved because of her mother’s past. She’s smart, confident, and works so hard for herself and her mom. That’s beautiful!”

“I’ve looked up a lot about Cherry Miller, and I like her more and more. She’s only twenty-three, already got her master’s from Penn, speaks several languages, and is a business prodigy. She’s led her own team and achieved so much. Most importantly, she’s beautiful and kind, does tons of charity work, and is always at the top of the philanthropy rankings. Everyone around her loves her.”

If they kept hiding the video, it would only fuel speculation and malice online.

But when Ethan Yin’s team released the video and revealed all the facts, they gained a flood of sympathy and encouragement.

If you keep covering up a wound, it will never heal—it’ll just keep bleeding.

But if you bravely uncover it, wash it clean with salt water, and stitch it up in the open, it’ll heal much faster.

Mrs. Miller’s crisis was handled quickly and effectively by Ethan Yin.

After that, whenever someone brought up Mrs. Miller’s past, there would always be someone to explain how she and Cherry Miller had no choice.
