Life and Oblivion Part 4

Inside the cell, Jing Kerr sat slumped against the wooden bars, his face shadowed with despair. Mr. Oblivion's wounds had already been treated; now he looked untouched by pain, arms folded behind his head as he leaned against the cold stone wall.

Eight lost their lives in the brawl—three from the He Family, five from the Su Family. But the most crucial point was this: Henry He Jr. still hadn't regained consciousness, while Simon Su Jr. was never put behind bars.

Oblivion, this time... I fear you went too far. How could you strike so mercilessly?

Mr. Oblivion chuckled, unfazed.

"Didn't the young master say it? Whoever kills Henry He Jr. earns a thousand gold. I delivered."

Dusk had fallen. Soldiers poured into the cell, ordering them out. Mr. Oblivion was bound tightly with rope as he was led away.

In the main hall, Henry He Jr. lay motionless on a soft couch, his breath barely stirring. Lord Simon Su had arrived, and the city's powerful figures gathered, drawn by the bloodshed. Lady Julie Zhou was there too.

"Simon Su, look at my son—what have you done to him?"

"Henry Miao, didn't you say before that adults shouldn't meddle in the children's fights? Today, my Su Family lost five. If not for Jing Kerr and Mr. Oblivion, my boy would already be a corpse beneath your family's sword."

The two families erupted into shouting.

"Enough! Both of you—stop."

Lady Julie Zhou spoke, and the room fell silent. She soothed tempers, assuring them that Henry He Jr. would recover with careful tending.

"It was this bastard who hurt my son, wasn't it?"

Henry Miao glared at Mr. Oblivion, rage twisting his face. Suddenly, he drew his sword and lunged. All eyes locked on the pair as Mr. Oblivion sprang back, landing a swift kick to Henry Miao's chest.

"How dare you!"

Henry Miao crashed hard to the floor. Instantly, soldiers closed in, pinning Mr. Oblivion to the ground.

"Hold him down. I’ll kill him myself!"

Mr. Oblivion smiled coldly at Simon Su Jr.

"Young master, you promised—a thousand gold for killing the boy. Now I get no gold, and I’m the one about to die?"

Simon Su Jr. met Mr. Oblivion’s gaze, his face shadowed with gloom. Lord Simon Su laughed, breaking the tension.
