Unlike Charles Yin's domineering and wicked charm, Max Mo's gentle elegance always stirs the heart, especially when he frowns.
Lydia Lin quickly explained, "My name is Dina. I saw you once from afar at a cocktail party!"
A hint of indifference flashed in Max Mo's eyes, but he simply nodded politely.
For some reason, Lydia Lin keenly sensed that Max Mo was interested in Cecilia Gu!
He and Cecilia Gu...
Could there be some unspeakable secret between them?
"I'm by myself. Would I be lucky enough to invite both of you to join me for a meal?" Max Mo's blue eyes sparkled with irresistible charm as he spoke elegantly.
Cecilia Gu actually wanted to catch up with Lydia Lin and ask about her future plans.
So, naturally, Cecilia Gu intended to refuse.
But before Cecilia Gu could say anything, Lydia Lin suddenly spoke up, "Sure! How could we refuse Mr. Mo's invitation?"
Cecilia Gu shot Lydia Lin a look.
She really wasn't in the habit of dining with strange men.
In her whole life, she'd only ever eaten alone with Zach Zhao and... Charles Yin.
Lydia Lin suddenly leaned in and whispered in Cecilia Gu's ear, "The chief surgeon at the hospital where I had my operation is good friends with Max Mo. Getting on Max Mo's good side is good for me."
After hearing Lydia Lin say that, Cecilia Gu really couldn't insist anymore.
"Alright..." Seeing the eagerness in Lydia Lin's eyes, Cecilia Gu couldn't bring herself to refuse.
When Cecilia Gu agreed, Max Mo's blue eyes flashed and he immediately invited the two of them into the restaurant.
As soon as Max Mo appeared, the restaurant manager personally led him to his private room.
All the assistants and bodyguards waited outside the room, while Max Mo very elegantly invited Cecilia Gu and Lydia Lin inside.
Max Mo didn't pay any attention to Lydia Lin, but he personally pulled out a chair for Cecilia Gu.
This gesture from Max Mo only made Lydia Lin more certain of her suspicions.
A strange light flickered in Lydia Lin's eyes, but she quickly lowered her gaze, hiding all her thoughts.
Max Mo had been troubled lately. No matter how hard he investigated, he couldn't find out Cecilia Gu's identity or address.
It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
There was no news of her anywhere in Newport City.
Cecilia Gu always traveled in the family car, so the train station, airport, and customs naturally had no record of her. No wonder Max Mo couldn't find anything.
Besides, Max Mo had just arrived in Newport City and hadn't established a solid foundation yet. Investigating someone without knowing their name or identity was indeed much more difficult.
But today was a stroke of luck.
This time, Max Mo wasn't going to let the opportunity slip away.
"Miss Gu, are you a local?" Max Mo asked, pretending to be casual. "What field are you in now?"
Cecilia Gu hesitated for a moment. She really didn't plan to tell Max Mo much about herself.
After all, she and he were basically strangers.
But Lydia Lin, sitting beside her, couldn't keep anything to herself and blurted it all out: "Xixi works at Yin Enterprises' Newport City branch. Neither of us are locals, but now we count as locals since we've settled here."
Max Mo immediately looked like he understood.
As long as he knew her name and where she worked, it would be easy to investigate.
It didn't matter whether what they said was true or not.
So Max Mo quickly ordered food and didn't press any further.
During the meal, Max Mo didn't say much, but every word he spoke made the two women feel comfortable and at ease.
Because of Max Mo's elegance and strong charisma, Cecilia Gu gradually let down her guard and started talking more.
Lydia Lin tilted her wine glass, accidentally spilling wine all over herself.
"Ah, sorry! I'll go to the restroom." Lydia Lin quickly stood up, apologizing.
Cecilia Gu immediately asked with concern, "Do you need me to go with you?"
Lydia Lin quickly refused, "No, I can go by myself! You two go ahead and eat, I'll be right back."
After saying this, Lydia Lin left her seat and walked outside.
As soon as she stepped out, Lydia Lin said to the assistants and bodyguards waiting outside, "Mr. Mo said you don't need to wait here. There are too many people coming and going—it's inconvenient."
The lead assistant thought about it. This sort of thing had happened before.
Max Mo had indeed asked them to wait elsewhere before, so when Lydia Lin said this, the assistants and bodyguards didn't suspect anything. They all turned and left to wait farther away.
Once they'd left, Lydia Lin didn't go to the restroom. Instead, she pulled out her phone, opened the camera, and snapped a few pictures of Cecilia Gu and Max Mo.
Just then, Max Mo was talking to Cecilia Gu. Out of politeness, Cecilia put down her knife and fork and smiled up at him.
Lydia Lin seized the moment—click! She captured the shot.
After quietly closing the door, Lydia Lin, who had just looked so innocent, let a cold smile slip across her lips.
Cecilia Gu, after everything you've been through, you still haven't learned a thing!
You're so naive, so easy to fool—who wouldn't take advantage of you?
Lydia Lin tidied up her clothes in the restroom and came back.
Cecilia Gu chatted with Max Mo for a bit, and only then did she realize he was the famous Mr. Mo, just as renowned as Charles Yin.
"Ah, so you're Max Mo from Mo Consortium!" Cecilia Gu said, feeling a bit embarrassed. "About that day, I'm really sorry."
Lydia Lin's ears perked up: That day? Which day? Had they met before?
She couldn't believe Cecilia Gu's luck!
She'd barely been in Newport City and already managed to connect with two of the city's top heartthrobs.
Lydia Lin's eyes flickered and she interjected, "Xixi, Mr. Mo is one of the country's most eligible bachelors! His background would scare you if you knew!"
Cecilia Gu looked confused. "Huh? What background? Isn't he just the CEO of Mo Consortium?"

"There's more..." Lydia Lin wanted to keep going.
Max Mo suddenly interrupted Lydia Lin, "I'm really not that special. I'm new to Newport City myself. If I ever need advice, I hope you two won't mind helping me out!"
Lydia Lin immediately replied with a sweet smile, "Of course, it's our honor."
Cecilia Gu checked the time—it was about time to leave. She regretted not getting a chance to really catch up with Lydia Lin tonight.
Max Mo noticed Cecilia Gu's mood and elegantly wiped his mouth. "How are you two getting home? Would you like me to give you a ride?"
Before Cecilia Gu could answer, Lydia Lin grinned, "That would be great! Xixi can't drive, so it's perfect if Mr. Mo gives her a lift."
Cecilia Gu turned to look at Lydia Lin.
Lydia Lin lowered her voice and said to Cecilia Gu, "I have to go to the hospital for an injection later, so I can't take you home. Sorry, Xixi, but Mr. Mo is really trustworthy!"
