"Every time I get a question wrong, I write it down in a notebook. Then, after three days, I take it out again, go through the solution process, and redo it. At first, I would often forget halfway through, so it was really hard to keep at it. But whenever I felt exhausted and wanted to give up, I would always think of that student whose math scores suddenly shot up. I figured he must have suffered a lot to get that good at math, so I had no right to slack off myself."
Lynn Chen spoke slowly, mixing a few study tips into her words, but she kept coming back to that one student.
Hearing this, all the boys present felt a wave of sour envy—especially Eric Yu, sitting right next to her. He was so annoyed he could tell without even thinking that the boy Lynn Chen was talking about was Evan Lin.
As he listened to Lynn Chen, Evan glanced at her a few times and sighed inwardly. So, in her eyes, he had changed from a useless slacker into someone secretly working hard behind the scenes?
This was actually the first time Evan realized this. He used to think Lynn Chen just found him annoying no matter what. He never bothered to care much—after all, in his previous life, she was just the goddess he looked up to from afar.
But now, listening to her words, Evan couldn’t help feeling a bit weird inside.
"I hope that classmate has a bright future ahead, and that he can keep up the motivation he had when he worked so hard. I hope he gets into a great university in the end."
Lynn Chen kept her gaze straight ahead, never looking at Evan. She went on to announce her scores in each subject—her 145 in math especially made a lot of people look over in surprise.
When Lynn Chen finally finished and sat down, everyone was still lost in her words, unable to snap out of it for a long time.
A lot of the boys were jealous of the male student she talked about, while the girls were curious about the guy who left such a deep impression on her.
As soon as Lynn Chen sat down, Eric Yu shot to his feet.
He quickly composed himself. Seeing that the other students were still spaced out, he cleared his throat and dove right in.
Eric’s voice had that warm, nice-guy vibe. The moment he stood up, he pulled everyone’s thoughts back to the present.
"I’m Eric Yu. Last exam, I was ranked 23rd in my class. This time, I’m 10th, with a total score of 588."
Eric flashed a bright, sunny smile that made Henry Wang very pleased.
"The reason I improved so much is all thanks to Lynn Chen’s help. I was originally planning to go into the entertainment industry, but in the end I decided to come to class and take the college entrance exam. At first, I didn’t have much confidence in myself. When I first arrived at Capitalview First High, I felt everyone here was super talented—especially in Mr. Wang’s class, where the top students are everywhere. I was really nervous. Luckily, Lynn Chen helped me through that rough patch, tutoring me every day, never getting tired of it."
As he said this, Eric smiled, making several girls swoon. He even turned to Lynn Chen and thanked her in a deep, heartfelt voice.
Lynn Chen looked a little awkward, but Henry Wang’s smile was especially wide. Ben Lu was also very satisfied with Eric, and the students around them felt flattered.
Eric’s speech managed to flatter just about everyone in the room.
"Eric really works hard. In the future, Lynn Chen, you should keep helping him out. I’m sure with your support, Eric will get a great score on the college entrance exam!"
Ben Lu nodded and smiled.
Eric then reported his scores for each subject. They were all pretty average—nothing amazing, but no real weak spots either.
After that, students from each class stood up one by one.
The Experimental Class kids all had strong grades, while the regular classes sent up their most improved students. Still, even the lowest score among them was over 500.
One by one, each class’s students got up and sat back down.
Soon, after Class 11 finished, everyone’s eyes turned to Evan Lin.
Ben Lu gave a theatrical cough and said, “All the students so far have done great. Whether you’re in the Experimental Class or a regular class, getting over 500 points at Capitalview First High is really no big deal.”
Ben Lu pretended to cough, then looked at Evan and asked, already knowing the answer, “You’re from Class Twelve, right? It’s your turn. Tell us your previous and current rank, and your total score.”
“That’s right. Let’s give a big round of applause for Evan Lin from Class Twelve!” Henry Wang fanned the flames from the side, leading the applause.
The students quickly joined in, clapping thunderously. Eric Yu clapped especially hard, his face full of excitement.
Only Lynn Chen and Wendy Wen didn’t clap. Lynn Chen looked worried and glanced at Evan.
425 points—saying that out loud here, wouldn’t that be social suicide?
But more than that, Lynn Chen was worried Evan might snap and start throwing punches again. If he beat up everyone nearby, it would definitely cause a huge scene.
Especially with Eric Yu clapping away so loudly right next to her, Lynn Chen cursed him as an idiot in her heart. He was clapping now, but if Evan lost his temper, he’d probably get beaten to a pulp.
Lynn Chen shook her head and sighed.
Wendy Wen was taking notes, organizing her draft. She looked at Evan with curiosity, wondering what he would say.
"Evan Lin? That name sounds familiar," someone murmured.
"Evan Lin—the super transfer student!" someone else suddenly exclaimed.
They’d seen Evan’s face on TV during the Teacher–Student Assembly, but after so long, most people had forgotten what he looked like.
Now, as Evan slowly stood up, quite a few people looked a little stunned.
Everyone knew Evan Lin’s math was insane, but as for his other subjects, they weren’t really sure. To kids from other classes, Evan was just a super transfer student—maybe a quirky kind of academic ace.
"I’m Evan Lin from Class Twelve."
Evan stood up and spoke calmly: "Total score, 425."
"As for study methods, sorry, I don’t really have any good experience or tips to share."
"It’s just that I’m naturally smart, quick-thinking. Whatever I look at, I get it. That’s just talent. Thank you, everyone."
