Counterattack

"What a clever scheme!"

Inside the tavern, Ian Song listened to the chatter of nearby diners, a cold smile slowly appearing at the corner of his mouth.

If he went out now to kill native Immortals, then when they started massacring ascenders again, they'd have every excuse—and could even dump all the blame on him, turning him and the Ascender Alliance into public enemies of all ascended Immortals.

Even so, the Ascender Alliance's reputation was already in ruins.

"People, huh!"

Thinking of all those ascenders searching for the Ascender Alliance just to use the chance to turn from mountain pheasant to phoenix, Ian Song felt his actions weren't worth it. He was trying to change their fate, but they—just to become lackeys of the big powers—wouldn't hesitate to sell him out.

There was even a moment when he felt the urge to disband the Ascender Alliance altogether.

But then he thought it through—after all, those who wanted to become slaves were only a minority.

He couldn't condemn all ascenders just because of a few rat droppings.

"But you really think this is enough to leave me helpless? Not a chance!"

"A Golden Immortal and two unknown beings—though I have to admit, they're pretty attractive!"

Another Profound Immortal stepped onto the deck, eyeing Ian Song and his companions up and down.

"It's pretty rare for ascenders to reach late-stage Golden Immortal. Maybe these three are... Wait, they're escaping!"

As one Profound Immortal was speaking, Ian Song and his two companions suddenly sped off into the distance.

"After them!"

A Profound Immortal's eyes flashed with amusement as he piloted the immortal boat after Ian Song and his companions.

At first, these Profound Immortals were pretty cautious. After all, the Three Great Clans of Purple Dragon Domain had lost thirty-three Profound Immortals. But lately, the Ascender Alliance hadn’t confronted them directly, so their guard had dropped. They just thought the Alliance was tricky, not truly powerful.

Soon enough—

Ian Song and his companions were intercepted.

Two Profound Immortals flew down from the immortal boat, smirking, "Who are you people? Why did you run when you saw us?"

"Sir, we're just ordinary Immortals. We only tried to avoid you out of respect for your reputation, so as not to offend you!" Ian Song purposely acted fearful, shrinking back as he spoke.

"Gu Min, Warren Gu—stop wasting time talking! We're still on patrol. Hurry up and capture them!" barked the patrol captain, Jason Longwind.

The Longwind Family was one of the top clans in Jasper Splendor Cave-Heaven, and Jason Longwind was the patriarch's ninth son. With great talent, he'd reached late-stage Profound Immortal at just over eight thousand years old.

"Yes, Captain!"

Gu Min and Warren Gu steeled themselves and moved in on Ian Song and his group.

In just a few moves, Ian Song and his companions were all captured and brought back onto the immortal boat.

"Captain, let me handle the interrogation of these two ladies!"

A black-faced Profound Immortal stepped forward, his gaze lingering on Joy and Cici with a strange glint in his eyes.

"Hector Blackstone, aren't you being a bit greedy?"

Another Profound Immortal voiced his dissatisfaction.

Clearly, he was interested in Joy and Cici too.

"Hehe, then I'll interrogate that male Immortal myself!" Martha Ma, dressed in palace robes, giggled, her eyes full of greedy desire as she looked at Ian Song.

"Martha Ma, don't go too far and kill him during your interrogation!"

A middle-aged Profound Immortal joked.

"Relax, I'll leave him alive!" Martha Ma licked her thick lips, grabbed Ian Song, and hurried into the cabin, clearly impatient.

Meanwhile, Hector Blackstone seized Joy and headed into a cabin, while another Profound Immortal grabbed Cici and rushed inside as well.

Jason Longwind frowned slightly at the scene but said nothing. After all, they'd done this plenty of times before—as long as they cleaned up afterward, no one would ever know.

"Little lord! I'm coming for you!"

As soon as Martha Ma entered the cabin, she couldn't wait to strip off her clothes, revealing her plump, pale body. She reached out to tear Ian Song's clothes off as well.

Just then, Ian Song's eyes flashed with a cold light. Martha Ma instantly fell into a daze.

On the deck—

Without warning, Gu Min and Warren Gu suddenly turned on two early-stage Profound Immortals beside them.

"Bang! Bang!"

Caught off guard and hit with full force, the two Profound Immortals had their heads blown apart instantly.

"Not good!"

Jason Longwind cursed inwardly and drew his sword to attack, but just then, Martha Ma burst out of the cabin and joined the assault against him.

At the same time, screams erupted from the cabins where Joy and Cici had been taken.

Out of ten Profound Immortals, four died instantly.

Three more switched sides.

The last two Profound Immortals were so stunned by the betrayal, they couldn't react at all.

Just then, a figure flashed by.

Joy appeared and joined the attack on Jason Longwind, while Ian Song and Cici went after the two remaining Profound Immortals.

"Ah!"

With a single move, Ian Song killed the early-stage Profound Immortal, then teamed up with Cici to finish off the other.

Under their combined assault, the last Profound Immortal was killed instantly.

Then, the two joined the siege against Jason Longwind.

Faced with six attackers—two of them, Joy and Ian Song, at late-stage Profound Immortal—Jason Longwind lasted less than three exchanges before being killed.

The battle started fast and ended even faster.

After cleaning up the battlefield, Ian Song, Joy, and Cici left, while Martha Ma, Gu Min, and Warren Gu piloted the immortal boat toward a nearby city.

Upon arrival, they launched a frenzied attack on all native Immortal factions in the city.

The City Lord, the strongest in the city, was only a mid-stage Golden Immortal, so nobody could stop the trio.

It took them only half an hour to wipe out all the native Immortal forces and the City Lord’s Mansion.

Then the three immediately set off in the immortal boat for another city.
