Caught in the Carriage

2/14/2026

"Ah..." Serena Feng cried out softly in pain, her voice barely above a whisper. Her dazed eyes slowly cleared, and when she realized her situation, her pupils dilated sharply. Instinctively, she tried to let go and push Ninth Royal Uncle Nolan away—but she was quick, and Nolan was even quicker...

Nolan tightened his grip around Serena's waist, pressing her firmly against him until not even a sliver of space remained between them.

Serena leaned back, trying to avoid Nolan, but he was quicker—he caught her head, leaving her no chance to refuse.

"Nol—" Serena began, but Nolan didn’t let her finish. He lowered his head and kissed her firmly, cutting off her words.

"Let..."

"I won't."

Nolan's voice was gentle, tinged with a subtle longing. Serena froze, no longer resisting.

This man was the one she loved, the one she’d been longing for. No matter how many times she’d warned herself to stay away from him, in this moment, she couldn’t refuse him.

Right now, Serena forgot where she was—until...

With a loud thud, she hit the carriage door, catching the attention of the guards outside...

'Master?' The coachman pulled the reins, stopping the carriage, and the guards immediately stepped forward.

Serena was startled, her face flushing instantly. She quickly pushed Nolan away and shrank into the corner of the carriage.

'Is this not utterly humiliating?'

With his arms suddenly empty, Nolan felt a pang of disappointment, but the interruption helped him regain his composure. After a discreet cough to steady his voice, he said, 'It's nothing. Keep going.'

It really was nothing; Nolan didn’t think there was anything wrong with what happened.

'Yes, sir.' The coachman said nothing more and drove on, but inside the carriage, the two were dying of embarrassment. Serena hung her head in shame.

Ahhh, I can’t take this! I can’t face anyone! This is a carriage, and there are so many people outside, yet I almost did something I shouldn’t with Nolan in here.

Nolan knew exactly what Serena was thinking. In fact, he was embarrassed too. He hadn’t expected a simple comforting kiss to escalate, but he didn’t regret it—only the time and place.

Next time, next time for sure. Next time he wouldn’t stop halfway.

Seeing Serena too ashamed to lift her head, Nolan awkwardly reassured her: 'The carriage is well soundproofed. No one outside could hear anything.'

In other words, there was no need to worry about losing face. Besides, it wasn’t just Serena who was embarrassed—Nolan was too.

Beauty brings heroes to ruin—who would have thought it’d happen to him today? Maybe all the men in his family are destined to fall for women from the Feng clan.

Nolan found, to his dismay, that at least for now, it was true.

'Hmph...' Serena heard this and felt a bit relieved. She glared at Nolan with exasperation, her eyes full of reproach.

Nolan put on an innocent face and pretended not to notice anything...

'Hmph.' Serena snorted again, fussing with her wrinkled dress, wondering how she would manage when she got off the carriage.

The dress was so wrinkled it was unpresentable...

'Ahem... It’s fine, let me help.' Nolan coughed lightly, pulled Serena into his arms, and slowly, carefully smoothed out her skirt...

He absolutely only smoothed out her skirt—nothing else...
