Hundred Ghosts of the Dream IV

The dazzling, multicolored vortex before me was shrinking. I moved a little closer and was sure I wasn’t mistaken—Mona Ouyang was holding up both hands, looking strained and exhausted.

Suddenly, with a loud bang, Mona Ouyang crashed straight into me. Before I could react, I was used as her cushion and slammed into the wall.

“What happened?” I asked immediately. The multicolored halo on the opposite wall disappeared, and everything fell silent again. Mona Ouyang sat on the ground, staring blankly at the wall.

I stood quietly beside her.

“What... exactly are you struggling with? Can you tell me?”

Mona Ouyang stood up, walked back to the wall, and stretched out her hand, her face tense. Gradually, a faint, multicolored glow appeared on the wall again—she was trying to create a new Dream Passage.

With a bang, the multicolored glow shattered, and Mona Ouyang was knocked back again. As soon as she got up, she returned to the wall to try again. After more than a dozen attempts, she was still at it.

“Enough.”

I walked over and grabbed Mona Ouyang by the arm as she prepared to try again.

“Let go, Ethan Zhang.”

I shook my head and said.

“Tell me, who is the King of Dreamborn? What is his connection to Red Path?”

But Mona Ouyang abruptly shook off my hand, staring at me with a blank expression.

“Forget it, Ethan Zhang. You and your people shouldn’t get involved in this. I have my own plans. Do whatever you want.”

With that, Mona Ouyang resumed her attempts. I was so furious I could barely contain myself, gritting my teeth as I glared at her, then turned to leave, planning to find Xiao Nao and the others.

Xiao Xing once said, only when the King of Dreamborn appears will this world begin to function properly. Maybe all this chaos will finally end. It’s the only method left to try.

I left the basement, scanning my surroundings with caution. There was no sign of unrest, except for the east side of the city, where thunderous booms kept echoing—Yin Chou was still fighting Dream Zero. I had to hurry.

I wandered through West City. When I reached a three-story building near the city gate, I looked around, pushed open the door, and walked inside. Then I knocked on the floor tiles.

Feeling which tile was hollow, I slid my fingers underneath and pried it up. The moment it opened, a sharp knife shot out from below. I quickly let go and knocked the blade aside with one hand.

“Ah! Disciple, it’s you?”
