The Cause of Past Events

"You actually dare to come back here? Follow me, I'll take you out. Also, don't carry your blade around for no reason—it's only asking for trouble." Manna Zhen walked up to Joe Di, glanced at the Red Tassel Blade on his back, and spoke with a hint of pity.

Joe Di looked up at Manna Zhen standing before him. Her appearance hadn't changed much—still exquisitely beautiful—and she was now at the second layer of Foundation Establishment. To reach this stage on Yalen Continent, her talent was indeed quite impressive.

"Junior Sister Manna, who is he?" The man beside Manna Zhen also caught up and asked casually.

"He's the one who escaped from the Di family." Manna Zhen did not hide Joe Di's identity.

Compared to before, Joe Di was much stronger and now carried a more masculine aura, but unfortunately, in the eyes of the Wu family, he was still just an ant.

"Thank you, but I still have some things to do. You go ahead." Joe Di thanked Manna Zhen, his heart as calm as a placid lake.

The traces of youthful sentiment he once had vanished like bubbles. At that moment, Joe Di felt something deep within him break, leaving his whole body feeling much lighter.

Joe Di stood up and once again said to Manna Zhen, "Thank you."

Manna Zhen's unexpected appearance gave his state of mind a sudden boost—something Joe Di hadn't anticipated. His second 'thank you' was for her arrival, which helped him break free from his youthful obsession.

Once he avenged the Di family, all the obsessions in his heart would completely dissolve, and his state of mind would reach a new level.

Manna Zhen shook her head. "Thanking me is pointless. Even though I've joined a sect, I don't have the ability to help you. I heard the Wu family is close with a major sect—I can't help you at all."

Joe Di smiled faintly. Manna Zhen would never understand the meaning behind his last 'thank you.' He took out a jade piece, tossed it onto the table, and walked out of the private room.

"Wait—" Manna Zhen chased out of the room, only to find that Joe Di had vanished. She swept her spiritual sense outward, but within its range, there was no sign of Joe Di.

"He seems rather unusual," the man beside Manna Zhen suddenly remarked, since his own spiritual sense also couldn't locate Joe Di. He was at the seventh layer of Foundation Establishment, his spiritual sense much stronger than Manna Zhen's.

Manna Zhen stood dazed at the hotel entrance, when a sudden thought crossed her mind: Had Joe Di also joined a sect? Was his cultivation even stronger than hers now?

She quickly shook her head. That couldn't be possible. Joe Di had no martial roots at all. Only after cultivating herself did she learn that without martial roots, there could be no spiritual roots.

"Junior Sister Manna, I suspect that Joe Di has cultivated as well. He must be back for revenge this time," the man said in a low voice.

Manna Zhen shook her head. "No, that's impossible. There's not a trace of spiritual energy fluctuation on him, nor any true essence. His aura is calm, with no sign of cultivation at all... Sigh, I just hope he doesn't do anything reckless. The Di family only has him left—he managed to escape, so why come back?"

After a pause, Manna Zhen suddenly realized, "I understand now—he must have obtained a Concealment Talisman. No wonder he could enter Pearl City without incident."

Only this could explain why Joe Di had suddenly vanished.

"Junior Sister, he seemed very calm when he looked at you..." The man beside Manna Zhen liked her, so he kept his eyes on Joe Di.

Joe Di's gaze toward Manna Zhen was calm—so calm, in fact, that there wasn't the slightest ripple. It didn't match the deep, unforgettable affection Manna Zhen had described before.

Manna Zhen was taken aback. She'd just been worrying about Joe Di's safety and hadn't noticed how calm he was when seeing her. That calmness truly didn't look like the madness of someone deeply in love.

Chandler Hall, Royal Palace of Jade Nation.

King Hubert Wu coughed lightly and spoke slowly, "Go summon Jian'er."

"Yes!" The eunuch standing beside King Hubert Wu quickly bowed and withdrew. But before he reached the door, a large foot kicked him in the back, sending him flying straight into King Hubert Wu.

Already sickly, King Hubert Wu was struck hard and immediately spat out a mouthful of purplish blood. The eunuch landed on the floor, gasping for breath, unable to say a word.

"How dare you..." King Hubert Wu roared in anger. Even though he was weak, the aura of a long-reigning monarch still lingered.

But after uttering just two words, he recognized who had entered.

Joe Di—the only survivor of the Di family all those years ago. He really has come back for revenge. King Hubert Wu sighed; when Joe Di and Ethan Di disappeared, he knew this matter wasn't over.

"You managed to get past so many guards and reach me, which means you must be at least a Martial King now, or perhaps you've begun cultivating as well..." After recognizing Joe Di, King Hubert Wu actually calmed down. He didn't frantically call for help or beg for mercy.

Joe Di walked over, grabbed King Hubert Wu, and tossed him aside, then sat in his place and said coolly, "I came here today with no intention of letting a single ant from the Wu family survive. But first, I need to ask you about someone—where is Trevor Qu? If you answer well, I might let you die with your body intact."

King Hubert Wu took a deep breath, wiped the blood from his mouth, and looked at Joe Di. "It's true my Wu family wronged your Di family, but it wasn't me who killed your father, Shawn Di. Nor was it for my daughter's illness that your sister's eyes were gouged out."

Joe Di's eyes turned cold. "Who was it?"

"It was because of Dr. Gray," King Hubert Wu said calmly.

Joe Di laughed coldly. "You mean Dr. Gray, a mere physician, dared to lay hands on my father Shawn Di? King Hubert Wu, if you keep lying, don't blame me for soul-searching you."

Joe Di knew of Dr. Gray—a medical grandmaster from the Luyuan Empire. In his father's eyes, such a medical grandmaster was probably nothing more than an ant.

"So you really have cultivated and returned." King Hubert Wu's voice trembled when he heard Joe Di mention soul-searching.
