Faint With Fright, Small Courage and a Big Temper

2/14/2026

After finishing the infusion and instructing Simon Sun to tidy up the operating room, Serena Feng quietly glanced at her Smart Med-Pack. The screen showed it was already five in the afternoon, meaning they’d spent nearly eight hours inside, while those outside had baked in the sun for just as long.

Serena nodded in satisfaction. Even small players have their own ways of getting revenge. Serena Feng always paid back her debts. As she pulled down her sleeve, she noticed the LCD screen of the Smart Med-Pack suddenly flickering.

Could it be broken?

Serena jumped in alarm, staring at the screen, her heart in her throat. Thankfully, it quickly returned to normal. But after the flicker, a new message appeared: Medical Ethics +1, total 2 points.

Medical Ethics? What is this? I’ve never seen it before—does the Smart Med-Pack have this function too?

A thousand questions raced through Serena’s mind. She glanced at Simon Sun, but decided to let it go for now. This wasn’t the time to investigate—she’d study it later tonight in her room.

Because of this, Serena was a bit anxious. After locking away all suspicious items in the operating room, she signaled Simon Sun to help prop up the operating table, then wheeled Madam Sun out.

As soon as the door opened, Sun Zhengdao and Dominic Zhai rushed over. Princess Yara and Su Wan were anxious too, but kept their composure and didn’t hurry forward.

"How is it?"

"How is my wife?"

"The surgery was very successful, Doctor Sun. You can rest assured—your wife just needs to recuperate quietly. Doctor Sun, please help Simon take Madam Sun to the guest room. Madam Sun will need to stay here for half a month for observation to prevent postoperative infection. During this period, your family can stay at Feng Manor, but you’ll need to handle meals and lodging yourselves." Serena spoke in an official, businesslike tone.

Even though she’d taken off her surgical gown, Serena still carried a strong scent of disinfectant.

"Thank you, Doctor Feng." Sun Zhengdao had a pile of questions, but seeing his son go with him, he didn’t press Serena further. He had no desire to get involved in the women’s power struggles.

"What’s that smell? It’s awful." Princess Yara and Su Wan stepped forward, wrinkling their noses at Serena.

"Awful? I think it’s much better than some people’s sweaty stench." Dominic Zhai couldn’t help but comment. At his words, Su Wan and Princess Yara remembered they’d been baking outside in the sun all day, drenched in sweat.

"Serena Feng, we sat outside all day and saw nothing!" Princess Yara’s eyes flashed with anger. All that noble composure was just a facade now.

"I’m very sorry, Your Highness. Madam Sun’s thoracoabdominal surgery required her clothing to be lifted, which wasn’t appropriate for male viewers. Please forgive me, Princess—I was nervous and forgot to mention it. If you’d like to see what you came for, please wait a moment. I’ve saved the most important thing for you."

With that, Serena turned and carried out a tray from inside, covered with a white cloth. As she stepped out, her legs seemed to give way—whether from weakness or something else—and she stumbled forward.

"Careful!"
