Nine Daoist Gates Resolve

I didn’t go straight back to my room. Instead, I sat on the rooftop, gazing at the scattered lights all around. Behind the apartment block, the place was bustling, noisy voices drifting over. I sat quietly, feeling the cold wind brush past my temples.

There was still a lot weighing on my mind, but just as Master Richard Ming had said, what I needed now was to calm myself. No matter what I faced, I had to be as resilient as a rock, as gentle as flowing water.

Just then, my phone rang. I was surprised as I pulled it out—a number I didn’t recognize.

I stared at it in surprise, then answered.

“Hmph. You monster. If you don’t want your men to die, show yourself now. Otherwise, I won’t be so polite.”

The voice on the other end was old and arrogant. I blinked, wondering how they’d gotten my number.

“Who are you?”

I asked.

“I am Master Jasper Jade. I came down the mountain this time, and never expected to be fooled by a wretch like you, tricking my disciples. Hmph.”

“Big brother, don’t come over! This guy wants to...”

"Did you hear that? Your subordinate has already been captured by me."

It was Little Four. I stared at the phone in surprise, but after thinking carefully, I smiled, remembering what had happened. Kevin Chiu must be one of the Dao Sect, and I had borrowed his body.

"Sorry, Master, I was in a hurry and had to borrow Kevin Chiu's body for a while. As compensation, I've already transferred a hundred thousand yuan to him. I didn't use his body for anything bad—just went to Putian Temple to catch up with Master Richard Ming, that's all."

As soon as I finished speaking, there was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. Then, the Taoist who called himself Master Jasper Jade spoke again.

"Kid, if you have the guts to do it, then come over here yourself."

Then the Taoist gave me the address. It was near Louis Ox's place, in an abandoned soccer field overgrown with weeds. By now, it was already one in the morning.

I slowly floated up and drifted toward the bottom of the apartment building. Just as I was about to leave, Yan Chou suddenly appeared beside me.

"What's up, brother? Heading out?"

I nodded.

"Sigh, you've gotten yourself into some trouble. There's a Taoist named Master Jasper Jade."
