A Burst of Secret Joy and Delight
"Like a melon seller bragging about her own produce," Damian Black shot her a sidelong glance.
Lily Bai waved two Clarity Charms in front of him. "Isn't it true? With these two, plus my testimony, Leo Li won't get away!"
Damian Black reached out, trying to snatch the Clarity Charms.
But she'd actually placed a talisman spell on both charms—his hand bounced right off the moment he touched them.
Lily Bai seized the chance to stuff the Clarity Charms into her Storage Pouch. "What's your problem? Trying to snatch them from me?"
Damian Black: "Give them to me."
"Why should I give you my stuff?"
"This is a feud between me and Drake Abyss," Damian said in a low voice. "It's not something a little Warden like you should get involved in!"
Lily Bai stared at him, eyes bright and clear. "So, you're worried about me?"
Damian Black frowned.
"Back there, you were so anxious—weren't you just afraid I'd die in there?"
Damian Black turned and strode away.
Lily Bai grabbed his sleeve. "Damian, why do you care about me so much?"
Damian Black yanked his sleeve free and flew off in an instant.
"Hey! You're not going to wait for me?" Lily Bai stomped her foot and called after him.
Damian Black reached out, grabbed her, and whisked her away with Swiftstride.
The whole way, Lily Bai just gazed at Damian Black, grinning sweetly.
These past days, it felt like her heart had been shrouded in fog.
She liked Damian Black.
But Damian Black was a ruthless killer.
That left her totally confused, her heart a mess.
But now, everything suddenly became clear.
Her heart bubbled with secret joy and happiness...
Damian Black glanced at her three or four times, and each time he found her looking up at him, smiling with her eyes and mouth.
His spiritual power fluctuated so much he had to stop using Swiftstride.
Using Swiftstride burned through a ton of spiritual power—he needed to stay focused.
"Why are you grinning like an idiot?" Damian Black asked, sounding annoyed.
"Huh? Am I? Was I smiling?"
Damian Black: "If you keep this up, I'll knock you out and carry you."
"What did I do? I didn't do anything!" Lily Bai looked utterly aggrieved.
Damian Black: "Close your eyes."
Lily Bai obediently shut her eyes.
Damian Black grabbed her arm, took a deep breath, and used Swiftstride again.
But unexpectedly, Lily Bai suddenly leaned in—unable to see, she ended up right by his lips, asking, "Why do I have to close my eyes?"
The white light around them vanished in a flash.
Damian Black nearly dropped out of the sky.
He barely managed to steady them, landing on a cloud, and instantly let go of her.
Lily Bai opened her eyes, puzzled. "Huh? Why did we stop?"
Damian Black sat down on the cloud. "Rest for a bit."
"Oh! Okay." Lily Bai said, a little worried. "You seem kind of weak today! Did you get hurt fighting that rat demon?"
Damian Black closed his eyes to meditate, ignoring her.
Like this, the gloom and killing intent he'd been carrying faded away quite a bit.
All that was left was pure, unfiltered handsomeness—elegant, cool, but still masculine and striking.
She couldn't help but scoot closer, squatting in front of him to take a good look.
His hair was pitch-black, every strand distinct and glossy; his skin was snow-white and flawless, like jade...
There's a poem that goes: "Stones piled like jade, pines ranked like emerald; the youth's beauty stands alone, unmatched in the world." That's exactly what he looks like...
Damian Black opened his eyes, only to find Lily Bai squatting in front of him again, grinning like a fool.
"What are you doing?"
He'd spent ages trying to meditate, but her silly antics made his spiritual power fluctuate again.
"I'm waiting for you! Waiting for you to finish meditating so we can get moving again." Lily Bai's eyes were pure and innocent.
Damian Black took a deep breath, resolutely avoided looking at her, stood up, and hauled her away.
