Chapter 682: So-called Rules
The seven-colored rainbow wound around the colossal tree like ribbons, wrapping layer upon layer. At the very top, when clouds drifted past, you could just make out an ancient kingdom perched upon the tree—silent and solemn. From afar, one could still see many massive creatures roaming about, and in the sky, ancient flying magical beasts soared overhead.
Especially as the USS Dauntless drew closer, everyone felt it—the giant tree was clearly visible, yet somehow it seemed to exist in another world. Everything they saw felt like a mirage.
"Tree of Wisdom!"
Seth struggled to utter the words. No matter how many descriptions he’d read in books, nothing compared to the shock of seeing it with his own eyes.
This was Constantine’s Dominion—a realm belonging solely to Constantine, the divine and demonic kingdom shaped by the Tree of Wisdom!
But the moment Leon saw the Tree of Wisdom, he adjusted the course of the USS Dauntless once more. A massive rune appeared on the crystal helm, and Leon slammed his palm down onto it.
The USS Dauntless shuddered slightly. Everyone watched as the scenery on both sides blurred and vanished behind them—the ship was accelerating, faster and faster.
Seth stared at Leon, not understanding what had gotten into him. After another dozen meters, as the Tree of Wisdom loomed larger and the distance closed rapidly, Seth suddenly began to tremble, eyes wide as he shouted, "You’re insane! Completely insane!"
Anderson drifted over, glancing at Leon who was focused solely on steering the USS Dauntless, not saying a word. Anderson muttered under his breath, "Merlin, are you actually planning to ram the USS Dauntless straight through Constantine’s Dominion?"
Leon said nothing, but the USS Dauntless kept accelerating. The scenery on both sides blurred into streaks of light, and the Tree of Wisdom grew rapidly larger in everyone’s eyes.
Slowly, the Tree of Wisdom stretched from earth to sky, standing like a wall between heaven and earth. Its peak was invisible, its roots unfathomable, and even looking to either side, the trunk was so massive you couldn’t see where it ended…
"Hold on tight!"
Leon barked, eyes locked on the Starlit Veil ahead.
No one had time to stop Leon now. It was too late. All they could do was watch as the USS Dauntless barreled toward the God-Demon Dominion.
Seconds later, the USS Dauntless crashed into the boundary of the Dominion.
The once-still starlit rivers now surged like a raging flood, sending waves towering high. As the waves crashed, visible ripples of space spread outward.
A vast swath of space was swept up by the waves, like a flat sheet of paper being crumpled into a ball. Jagged, monstrous Spatial Rifts tore open in midair.
Voidstorms burst from the Spatial Rifts, unleashing violent surges of energy. The clouds encircling the Dominion were scattered by the onslaught.
The silken, tranquil rainbows now erupted with terrifying power. One rainbow shuddered, and the oncoming Voidstorms were wiped away, the torn space instantly restored.
Only around the USS Dauntless did the rainbows surge into torrents of magical power, forming a vortex at the ship’s prow, like a seven-colored drill boring fiercely into the Dominion’s defensive barrier.
Starlit rivers clashed with rainbow energy, spawning thunder from the void. The rumble was deafening, and flashes exploded in the sky.
Countless stars detonated in the starlit rivers—dozens of suns shattered every second. The shockwaves spread from the Dauntless’s prow, and the space around them twisted, swirling into a vortex.
Inside the captain’s cabin, everyone could see the outside world warping. Through the vortex, the whole world looked like a lump of clay, churned into chaos.
Only at the Dauntless’s bow did Void Lightning erupt, the collision of forces tearing open a terrifying rift in space.
The powerful magic swirling around the Dauntless hammered at the torn rift, almost as if it had a will of its own…
Seconds later, the Dominion’s Spatial Bulwark was ripped open…
The clashing forces gradually subsided. The starlit rivers grew calm again, and the rainbows flowed quietly over the Dominion’s surface like gentle streams.
The Dauntless was like a nail, driven into the Dominion’s surface—its bow embedded inside, most of its hull still outside.
At last, Leon let out a long breath, his back drenched in cold sweat.
The Dauntless itself was forged from the body of Sanders the Nightmare Lord—its strength was beyond question. But even so, crashing headlong into Constantine’s Dominion was enough to make anyone tense up.
"No wonder Redbeard said we’d need Emperor Norlick’s help. Turns out, to break through the Dominion’s bulwark, you need both the Spellbook of Ages and the Dauntless—they’re the key to opening the Dominion…"
Leon muttered to himself, finally understanding the puzzle. If not for this, breaking into Constantine’s Dominion wouldn’t have been so easy…
Everyone else was weak-kneed with fear, but Seth just stared, lips trembling in a daze: "This can’t be… It’s impossible…"
Without Constantine’s bloodline, how could mere mortals breach the Dominion? That was the power of gods and demons—how could it be possible…
Minutes passed before the shaken crew finally calmed down. Through the surrounding projections, it was clear: a ring of seven-colored magic shielded the Dauntless from the bulwark’s pressure. There wasn’t a single gap between the Dauntless and the Dominion’s bulwark.
(Irrelevant system message skipped)
Leon led the group onto the deck at the bow. Looking up, they saw terrifying magical power flowing overhead—clearly not something mortals should touch.
Heads down, they crawled carefully across the bow, everyone terrified that the power above might come crashing down on them.
At the very tip of the bow, they passed through the Dominion’s Spatial Bulwark. Only then did they see the true face of the Dominion.
From outside, all you saw was a projection in the void. But once inside the Dominion, the scene was entirely different.
Thick, multicolored mists filled the air, flowing like rivers through the void. Everywhere you looked, vibrant plants bloomed in dazzling colors—each one seemed plucked from a dream.
Looking up, the sky was shrouded by dense foliage, but the world wasn’t dark at all. Shifting lights danced overhead, illuminating every corner. Sometimes, those lights would even morph into elegant Crystal Phoenixes and rare magical beasts…
Seth took a deep breath, and magic surged wildly within him. In the blink of an eye, he leveled up again.
"Such dense magic!"
Seth cried out, finally realizing that the rivers of mist flowing through the void were pure, concentrated magic.
The magic here was terrifyingly rich—nowhere in Northend World could compare. With a single breath, Seth became a sixth-level apprentice, and his magic kept rising. It wouldn’t be long before he leveled up again.
Leon showed no excitement, only caution. Determined as he was to come here, he never underestimated the Dominion.
Seeing this dreamlike scene and feeling the terrifying density and vitality of magic, Leon realized that even with his highest expectations, he’d still underestimated Constantine’s Dominion.
Gods and demons are always a forbidden power—never something mortals can touch.
