Watching the Concert

1/4/2026

Cherry Miller let out a soft laugh: "Of course I'm not giving up. That Newport Textile Works plot is prime real estate—whether for commercial use or residential development, it's a gold mine."

"What about the resettlement of the Er Cotton employees?" Yina Yin asked.

"I'm thinking of working with the higher-ups for a phased resettlement. After all, Yin Enterprises has so many subsidiaries and branches—we can easily absorb one or two thousand people," Cherry Miller said confidently. "As for the demolition compensation, that's within our tolerance. The biggest issue right now isn't the price, but sentiment. The old workers have deep feelings for Newport Textile Works and don't want to leave. Another reason is they're about to retire, and they're worried our arrangements won't be good enough. They're afraid that if they move, they'll end up with nothing. So, I need to coordinate on this front. Ugh, with both the Chairman and Ethan Yin out of the country, there's no one to approve my documents."

Cherry Miller frowned.

A project this big isn't something Yina Yin can decide on her own—it needs signatures from both the CEO and the Chairman.

But right now, both Charles Yin and Ethan Yin are out of the country, so for now, this project can only be planned—it can't be implemented yet.

Yina Yin's gaze fell on the map in the proposal, her brow relaxing as she said, "That's not a problem—my brother will be back in a couple of days."

"Ethan Yin is coming back?" Cherry Miller asked instinctively. "How come I haven't heard anything about it?"

"Maybe he's planning to surprise you?" Yina Yin said with a mischievous smile.

A hint of joy flickered in Cherry Miller's eyes, but she replied, "What kind of surprise could he give me? Just hope it's not a shock."

Yina Yin finished reading the proposal and said, "This is a pretty big project."

"It sure is. Even the most conservative estimate puts it at a minimum of ten billion," Cherry Miller nodded. "Otherwise, I would've bought Newport Textile Works last time."

The Newport Textile Works plot is huge, and the resettlement and demolition afterwards are definitely a massive headache.

Small companies can't handle it, and big companies think it's too much trouble.

But Cherry Miller isn't afraid of trouble—she's ambitious and wants to take on this huge challenge.

However, if Yin Enterprises takes on the Newport Textile Works project, the profits after development could easily exceed 400%. Calling it a windfall wouldn't be an exaggeration.

But the complications are real.

A lot of capable companies just don't want the hassle, so they skip out on the money.

But Cherry Miller doesn't mind the trouble—she's ambitious and wants to prove herself to the Yin family for all they've done for her.

"Once my brother gets back, I'll hand him the proposal," Yina Yin said. "He's just as ambitious as you—honestly, you two are a perfect match."

Cherry Miller's ears turned red, but she didn't respond to Yina Yin's teasing.

"Huh, what's this?" Yina Yin finally noticed the ticket on the table. "Which band is playing? Never heard of them!"

"Oh, Jay Kee just dropped it off. He said it's an underground band," Cherry Miller replied casually.

Yina Yin's eyes lit up. "Just one ticket? That's so stingy!"

"If you want to go, you can have it," Cherry Miller said offhandedly.

"No way," Yina Yin said with a sly grin. "It's more fun to go together than alone."

With that, Yina Yin turned and ran off to make a phone call.

In just a short while, someone showed up at the door with a stack of tickets.

Yina Yin grinned at Cherry Miller: "I ordered a bunch of tickets, so now we can all go to the concert!"

Cherry Miller: "...Whatever makes you happy."

Sure enough, the next day at the concert entrance, every single person who was supposed to show up was there.

Ryan King sighed, "I feel like I haven't been to a live show like this in years."

He usually goes to top-tier concerts or world-famous singers' shows—underground bands like this, he really hasn't experienced much.

Leo and Theo Mo nodded together, "We haven't heard this kind either, but honestly, it's kind of fun. The venue's just a bit shabby."

Jason Jiang agreed, "This is what grassroots music is all about—gotta keep it real."

Lucas Mu laughed, "Seriously, this is as real as it gets! And the tickets are dirt cheap, only eighty bucks each!"

Yuzhen Yin beamed, "That's why it's lively! The more people, the better when it comes to having fun together!"

Even Mason Kerr, who rarely goes out, showed up. He took a ticket and glanced at it, "Are you sure you guys will like this kind of music?"

"What do you know? We're here for the fun, not just the music." Ryan King threw an arm around Mason Kerr's shoulders, grinning. "Tonight, we'll witness Cherry's suitor in action—prepare to be amazed!"

Cherry Miller covered her eyes, totally embarrassed. "I'm warning you, if you laugh at me tonight, just wait—I’ll get my revenge when it's your turn to fall in love and get married!"

"Hehehe, Cherry! Don't be like that!" Leo and Theo Mo clung to Cherry Miller, acting cute. "We're just curious—how gutsy is Jay Kee, trying to steal Ethan's thunder?"

With their good looks, Leo and Theo Mo could sweet-talk anyone. Cherry Miller couldn't stay mad at them.

"You guys..." Cherry Miller tapped each of them on the head. "Just wait and see!"

Everyone burst out laughing.

Word was, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu had just returned to the country. If work hadn't tied them up, this love triangle would've exploded already!

These unreliable little brothers had been dying for some drama!

They couldn't wait to see Ethan Yin's face when he found out Jay Kee was chasing after Cherry Miller!

Ah, can't wait!

What happened to the last brave soul who dared to go after Cherry? How did he get shot down again?

Cherry Miller could only sigh at these guys. "Since you're all here, let's just go in together."

"Let's go, let's go—concert time!" Everyone cheered and lined up to head inside.

Yuzhen Yin sneakily snapped a photo and sent it to Ethan Yin: "Bro, don't say I never help you!"

Ethan Yin got the message while he was in a meeting.

Dozens of company execs stared at him, listening to his presentation.

When he saw the message, Ethan Yin paused for a second, then acted cool and handed his phone to Kaison, signaling him to check it out.

Then Ethan Yin continued the meeting, laying out all the key points and assigning tasks.

By the time the meeting ended, it was already an hour later.

The moment Ethan Yin walked out of the conference room, he asked, "What's up with that photo?"

Kaison immediately replied, "It's a ticket for an underground band's concert. The band is called 'Arrogant'—not very well-known, but kind of popular in the underground scene. So they're holding a show at the Newport Textile Works Stadium. I checked with Yuzhen and the other young masters—except for you and Miles, everyone else went, including the young ladies. And Cherry Miller went too. To be precise, everyone went because Cherry Miller was going."

Kaison explained carefully, "It's because this songwriter named Jay Kee gave Cherry Miller a concert ticket, so that's why she went."

"Jay Kee?" Ethan Yin found the name unfamiliar.

As the president of the Yin Group, he couldn't care less about some nobody's name.

"Yeah, Jay Kee lives with Mingxin—they work for the same company," Kaison replied dutifully. "And I heard some rumors... Apparently, Jay Kee is trying to pursue Cherry Miller."

"What did you say?" Ethan Yin froze, totally in disbelief!

If some rich young master was after Cherry Miller, he could believe it.

But some rookie in the entertainment industry thinks he can chase Cherry Miller??

Where does he get that kind of confidence?

Kaison coughed, "Okay, maybe I didn't explain it right." He also thought the whole thing was hilarious and kind of twisted. No wonder the young ladies and masters were all joining the fun—he almost couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the message.

Kaison quickly clarified, "To be exact, Jay Kee wants... to be Cherry Miller's side guy."

"What?!" Ethan Yin's face was priceless.

This was honestly the most outrageous and hilarious thing he'd ever heard!

"Everyone else knew about this except me?" Ethan Yin couldn't help clenching his fists until his knuckles cracked.

"Yep," Kaison said, barely holding back a laugh. "Seems like everyone was purposely egging Jay Kee on, letting him think the young ladies and masters were all Cherry Miller's kept pretty boys."

After saying that, Kaison couldn't bear to look at the boss's face!

He looked absolutely livid!

Ethan Yin gritted his teeth and spat out, "Oh, so now the joke's on me! They must be way too bored—looks like it's time to give them something to do!"

Kaison silently mourned for the young masters.

Who messes with the boss and gets away with it?

Of all the jokes to make, why pick on the boss?

Tsk tsk tsk, is the boss's embarrassment really that entertaining?

Good luck, young masters—you're on your own now!

"Achoo!" Yuzhen Yin, Ryan King, Leo and Theo Mo, Lucas Mu, Mason Kerr, and Yina Yin all sneezed one after another.

"Who's cursing me?" Ryan King muttered.

"Maybe the AC's too cold?" Lucas Mu suggested.

"It's an open-air venue—where would the AC come from?" Mason Kerr replied.

Yuzhen Yin thought for a moment, "Could it be big bro cursing us?"

"No way, no way, no way," everyone waved their hands. "Ethan's busy, he doesn't have time to think about us!"

Yina Yin: "Hehehe, you never know."

Cherry Miller glanced at the stage and whispered, "Quiet down, the show's about to start!"

As soon as she said it, Cherry Miller saw someone crouching and sneaking over from the side.

Just as that person was about to greet Cherry Miller, he looked up and saw Yina Yin and the others sitting beside her. The smile on his face froze instantly.

"Why are they here?" Jay Kee asked.
