That day, Evan Chu stepped out of the Chu Family’s Scripture Hall, where his newly appointed chief steward, Sam Chu, brought him an invitation.
The sender was Roger Qin, inviting him to a banquet at the Qin Family estate the next day.
Ever since his succession banquet, when the Qin, Li, Wang, and Zhou families each brought their most outstanding young women to toast him, Evan Chu had already guessed their intentions.
But since he already had more than ten wives back in his Main World, he really didn’t want to add any new members.
So he could only play dumb and pretend not to understand their intentions.
Now, it seemed they weren’t willing to give up so easily.
"So, should I go to the banquet tomorrow night or not?"
Just as Evan Chu was debating whether to attend the Qin Family banquet, invitations from the other three families arrived one after another, all inviting him for the same day.
“Interesting!”
Seeing the other three invitations, Evan couldn’t help but laugh. Clearly, the four families were using him as the focal point of their rivalry. However, with all three additional invitations, his choices became much easier.
So, he ordered Sam Chu to send replies to all four families, saying he would be in closed-door cultivation for the time being and had no time for banquets.
An hour later.
Qin Family estate.
When Roger Qin learned that Evan Chu had declined his invitation, his expression turned unpleasant, feeling slighted by the lack of respect.
Just then, the Qin Family’s chief steward rushed in and reported some news to Roger Qin. After hearing it, Roger Qin slammed his palm on the tea table in anger and snapped, “Idiots! No wonder Evan Chu isn’t coming—those three bastards are stirring up trouble behind the scenes!”
He had just found out that the other three families had also sent invitations, inviting Evan Chu to their estates for banquets the next evening.
If only one family sent an invitation and Evan Chu didn’t go, it would be seen as disrespectful and would offend them.
But if all four families sent invitations at the same time, going to any one of them would offend the other three. So the best solution was not to go to any, avoiding offense to anyone.
Several days passed quickly, and Evan Chu finished reading the thousands of volumes in the Chu Family’s Scripture Hall, deepening his understanding of this world.
Meanwhile, under the diligent management of the four elders, the Chu Family had returned to normal.
