Spitting Blood to Keep Her

12/2/2025

"Pfft... cough, cough..." Damien was struck by her palm, forcing him to spit out a mouthful of blood.

Morgan froze for a moment, then her anger flared even hotter. "Why didn't you dodge?" She had only intended for Damien to evade her strike so she would be freed, but he hadn't even tried to avoid it.

"I..." Damien's lips curled into a bitter smile as he lowered his gaze, avoiding her eyes. "I'm sorry... I was too impulsive!" He paused, his voice hoarse. "Go ahead and leave. I'll figure something out with Father." He looked as if he was ready to give up.

But Morgan's anger only grew fiercer. She grabbed for his collar, forgetting he wasn't wearing any clothes, and of course missed. Frustrated, she ended up gripping his throat, gritting her teeth. "Damien, you did that on purpose!"

Damien stared at her in apparent confusion, as if he had no idea what she was talking about. But inside, he was quite pleased. He didn't believe Morgan would really leave a 'seriously injured' man behind in the manor. If she dared, he'd make sure to teach her a lesson!

Morgan was seething, tempted to punch his handsome face. No one had ever pushed her to this point before—he was the first!

After several deep breaths, she finally managed to calm herself. With a stern face, she clamped her fingers on his pulse. Luckily, she hadn't used her full strength; he'd suffered some internal injuries, but nothing too serious.

A hint of satisfaction flashed in Damien's eyes. Even if he'd coughed up blood, keeping her here was worth it!

He obediently reclined on the bed, letting her check his pulse, watching calmly as she ordered someone to fetch and prepare medicine.

So his Princess Consort knew medicine. It seemed he wouldn't need a doctor for headaches or fevers in the future.

He seemed to forget that ever since his body had recovered, he’d never suffered from headaches or fevers. And even if he did fall ill, Gu Yihan was always there—he never needed to see a doctor.

Morgan Shangguan sat on the stool with a composed face, refusing to even glance at the man lying on the bed. Prince Damien watched her sulking, the corners of his lips lifting slightly, a hint of affection in his eyes that even he didn’t notice.

"Miss, the medicine is ready!" Yun Su entered with a tray, and instantly, the room was filled with the scent of herbs.

Yun Su glanced at the man on the bed, inwardly guessing what had happened. Seeing Prince Damien’s arm exposed outside the covers, her eyes widened—he wasn’t wearing any clothes. Could it be...

But how did he get injured?

Morgan Shangguan stood up, took the medicine from Yun Su, and said calmly, "You may leave now." Whether intentional or not, she blocked Yun Su’s view of Prince Damien.

"Oh..." Yun Su snapped back to herself and hurried out of the room.

Bang! The medicine bowl was set heavily on the bedside table. Morgan pressed her lips together and spat out two words, "Drink up!"

Prince Damien coughed twice and said weakly, "Morgan, I have no strength. Feed me."

Seeing Morgan’s signs of anger, Prince Damien coughed weakly again and struggled for a long time before finally sitting up, panting heavily. "Then... I’ll do it myself..." he said.

Morgan pressed her lips together and gave a small, reluctant hum. She sat down on the edge of the bed, helped him settle against the pillows, then picked up the bowl and began to feed him the medicine.

But when the spoon reached Prince Damien’s lips, he refused to open his mouth. Morgan frowned, her tone impatient: "What do you want now?"

"I’m afraid it’s bitter..."

Seeing Prince Damien’s aggrieved expression, Morgan’s eye twitched. Pretender! One day she’d peel off his fox’s hide and make it into a coat!

Taking a deep breath, Morgan smiled with unusual gentleness. "So, what does Your Highness want? Would you like some sugar?"

Prince Damien shook his head, his gaze lingering on her lips as he murmured, "If my princess feeds me with her mouth, it won’t taste bitter at all."

Bang... The medicine bowl was slammed onto the cabinet again. Morgan sneered, "Drink it or don’t!" Then she stormed out, thinking if she stayed any longer, she’d either die of anger or slap him to death herself!

Prince Damien glanced at the spilled medicine on the cabinet, muttering, "So unkind!" Yet the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but curl upward.

Morgan looked back at the tightly closed door and sighed. Prince Damien truly understood her mind—he used this method just to make her stay.

"This is my puppy!"

"Hmph! Miss raised it for me—when did it become yours?"

Woof woof...

Under the rockery, the two people and the puppy were embroiled in a lively quarrel.

Morgan frowned and walked over. "Yun Su, what’s going on?"

"Miss, this woman wants to steal my puppy!"

Yi Qing’er’s face flushed with anger. "Yours? That puppy is clearly mine!"

Woof woof... The puppy, caught between the two, was obviously annoyed. It opened its mouth and bit the hand holding its front paw.

"Ah!" Yi Qing’er cried out, jerking her hand back. Seeing the bite marks and blood, her anger flared even hotter. "You damn beast! I wasted all my care on you!" She reached out to hit the puppy, her gentle demeanor completely gone.

Yun Su quickly scooped up the puppy and dodged the attack. Yi Qing’er knew martial arts, but she was clearly less skilled than Yun Su. Now, blinded by anger, she had no technique at all. Missing her target, she crashed into the rockery, scraping her forehead and drawing blood. Tears welled up from the pain.

Yun Su snorted, "Serves you right! Grown woman bullying a puppy—aren’t you ashamed?" Yun Su had always been spoiled by Ouyang Lin and had a bit of a temper. She couldn’t stand Yi Qing’er, so she felt no sympathy at all. Who told her to pick on her puppy?

Ouyang Lin simply watched from the side. Since Yun Su wasn’t being bullied, he didn’t react at all. In fact, he rather hoped Yi Qing’er would take the puppy away—then it wouldn’t always be clinging to Yun Su!

Yi Qing’er touched the blood on her forehead and burst into tears, pointing at Morgan, "Morgan Shangguan, don’t think Senior Brother likes you so you can bully me! You’re nothing but a spy! He only pretends to care for you—don’t think you’re so great! Yes! Senior Brother definitely doesn’t really like you!"
